What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We value the tactical variety that Iratus: Lord of the Dead provides to our players. The game offers a lot of replayability: you can craft different minion and even evolve their skills differently, invest your resources into a variety of separate systems and so on. Early Access gives players the chance to familiarize themselves with these mechanics so that once we release the full version of the game, they can already be true masters and attempt to complete a playthrough on the highest difficulty level!
Furthermore, balancing a complex game like Iratus is a challenging task. By making the game available to players, we open the flood gates for lots of feedback and data on how to fine-tune the game balance as development continues.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Early Access enables us to develop Iratus iteratively with the help of our community. Iratus will stay in Early Access until the planned content and features have been implemented and the game is fully balanced. As a result, we plan to release the full version in April to June 2020. We will further evaluate and define the date more precisely as the development advances.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The most important features that await players in the full version are new levels with new enemies and, of course, the conclusion of our narrative. Also, we will be adding a few extra minions… (but hush! That’s still a secret!)”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All core gameplay features are done and implemented. Iratus currently must overcome three unique dungeon floors. Under his command currently are 16 minions which in total provide the players with almost 100 abilities! Using these tools the necromancer will attempt to defeat the resistance that awaits him: alchemically enhanced miners, greedy dwarves and corrupt mercenaries!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Possibly. We evaluate the pricing regularly as the game gains features, expands in scope and moves to from Early Access to full release. The game's price may be increased moderately when big content updates expand the game in a major way.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Iratus has always been a community effort, and that doesn't change with Early Access. We are always open to community suggestion for changes or new content ideas and requests either on the forums and discussion boards or in direct communication on our Discord server. Early access players can report issues, submit ideas for new characters, mechanics, skills and make feature requests. We also have Facebook and VK pages where you can get in touch with us and express your thoughts and ideas.”

Iratus: Lord of the Dead arrives on Steam Early Access this July

Dominate your enemies and turn their corpses into monsters you control in this challenging new roguelike from Unfrozen.

We are excited to announce that our delightfully evil roguelike RPG Iratus: Lord of the Dead will launch into Steam Early Access for Windows PC on 24th July. Inverting the classic fantasy RPG tale, Iratus: Lord of the Dead casts players as the newly resurrected necromancer Iratus on a bloody quest for vengeance against those who imprisoned him in his underground tomb.

Wielding an array of occult powers that would make the most talented conjurers recoil in terror, Iratus can use the blood, guts, bones and souls of vanquished enemies to create monstrous pawns to serve as his own personal army. With four different skill trees to master (Alchemy, Magic, Ire and Destruction) and nearly 100 different minion skills to unlock, players will have plenty of options to defeat their foes in turn-based combat and the giant dungeon overworld.

With permadeath affecting not only minions but enemies as well, Iratus: Lord of the Dead challenges your strategic prowess on all fronts. Body parts and essence are a finite resource in the overworld, so you’ll need to think carefully about what you conjure and how it’ll help you exact revenge.
