What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Armed to the Gears is already a full-featured game with tutorial, eight finished campaign maps, basic robot customization and many structures to build.

While the game already contains all the initially planned content, we feel that there is still room to improve in many aspects, as the player's feedback gave us a precise direction to follow.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to work on these new features along 2018, and they should be ready before the year's end.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We are now working on some requested features from our players, such as multiplayer capabilities, expanded robot customization, more structures to build, more resources to collect and manage, improved controller support, achievements, more game modes and configuration options, code optimizations and improvements.

Most of these features were not initially planned, but will certainly contribute for a much better gaming experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Armed to the Gears is being published in advanced development state, with all the planned features and graphical polishing implemented, tested and balanced, including 9 high-detail playable maps, 6 weapon types with variations, 11 deployment options and upgrades, 10 enemy types with random specs, a main headquarters menu with a robot workshop, game settings and more. A detailed list of current features can be found in the "About" section.

Starting as a single player, “classic” action game, Armed to the Gears is quickly evolving to become a full-featured action-strategy like no other.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to slightly raise the price for new customers as each new map is added, but subsequent updates should be free for whoever already own the game. A revaluation might be needed after leaving early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We had a lot of interesting reviews and feedback after the first updates were released, and it's our intention to keep forging the game within the community's directions. Player's input is always appreciated and analysed with great consideration.”

Revision 4 Announcement

Hi Guys!

As the Early Access version of Armed to the Gears with all the planned 8 maps + tutorial is done, we are reaching a new stage in the game development.

I like to call it Revision 4, as it’s the fourth structural reorganizing since the first concept.

It’s much more advanced because we want it to be a multiplayer peer-to-peer co-op and PvP game, and that requires some features to be built from the ground up.

So I wanted to share with everyone our plans for the next development stage:

  • Peer-to-peer multiplayer co-op or team vs team;
  • New controller input for in-game configuration;
  • New aiming system that locks enemies behind visual obstacles;
  • Camera zoom and rotation;
  • More structures and units to build a big base;
  • New robot workshop with parts and color customization;
  • Larger maps with some randomized areas;
  • Map editor with basic tools to create a custom map;
  • More weapon types with balanced trade-offs;
  • New HUD with better positioned items and battle feedback;
  • Ability to choose a side (rebellion or ministry);
  • in-game chat;
  • different game modes: tutorial, campaign, survival, arena;

All this and certainly more. It’s a bold move and may take longer than I expect, but I believe everything can be done and the outcome will be a super fun game to play.

We already have the networking figured out , many reusable codes, prefabs and assets.

My estimated time to release revision 4 is before this year’s end. We are working hard to meet this deadline, but problems may occur in the meantime.

This planning is based on all the feedback we got since the beginning of early access and I’d like to thank everyone for taking the time and writing so many great ideas that I would never come up to myself.

Here are some things I'd like to share. Some of the base structures for each "faction":

The new hud and a quick overview of some of the planned items and how they will be balanced:

Please note that everything here is under intense development and is probably going through a lot of changes before it's released.

There's a lot more to show. I'll try to be posting as much as possible along the development to let everyone know how it's going.

Game Updated!

A new map is added to the Campaign.

In the Ministry's orbital base, gravity is low and affects inertia and missiles aiming. Also, be careful not to fall from the platforms!

If you're playing with the keyboard, you can use keys F1 to F6 as turret building shortcuts.

This is the last update before the next revision, a big gameplay overhaul including the multiplayer, optimizations, interface improvements, lots of new structures to build and much more. Stay tuned!

Have fun and let us know in the community forum if you find any issues with this release.

About This Game

Armed to the Gears combines real-time strategy and territory domination into a top-down shooter with mechs, cyborgs and complete destruction.

In a dystopian future where a totalitarian regime, under the flag of the Ministry, dominates the whole world and enslaves billions, an underground resistance fights for freedom.

You are regarded their most skilled engineer, who's able to hack into the Ministry's Infantry Class robots and control their weapons, turning these war machines against their makers.

Your Mission:
Capture every Reactor by reaching proximity;
Secure the reactor's perimeter to avoid enemy takeover;
Suppress the enemy's presence in the area.

Armed to the Gears already is a full-featured action-strategy game:

. Play the tutorial and eight campaign areas with increasing difficulty and complexity. Explore the Training fields, Lower Downtown, Desert Base and Ammo Factory, City Center and more.

. Navigate your war robot around the maps to destroy enemies and capture reactors. Features a breakable armor, jet thrusters, primary weapons and secondary launchers;

. Captured reactors will grant Energy points, used to teleport turrets, call air support into the battle field and repair your robot, enabling a temporary protection for a base or offensive weapons to decimate the enemy's stronghold.

. The game already contains 11 deployment options - 6 turret types, landmines, barricades, repair station, carpet bombing and neutrium ballistic missile. Upgrade turrets and generators to maximize the defensive capacity of your bases;

. Multiple weapon types, including machine guns, lasers, plasma and electron cannons, grenades and missile launchers;

. Defeat the enemy’s army of cyborgs and mutants, war drones, robotic infantry units and dangerous giant mechs;

. Credits collected in battle can later be used in the main base’s Workshop to buy parts, ammo and fuel for your robot;

. Complete Main Menu where you can configure controls, game-play, access the workshop, web links, settings and save / exit;
