What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The current version of Dungeon Munchies is complete but each additional dish, creature, map and feature needs time and more eyes to review and test. We're only a team of three so there's a limit to what we can do. We also want feedback in order to create more interesting content and features for the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“To complete our shortlist of content and features, 5-10 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We will be adding more story content with the goal of bringing closure to Simmer's culinary education program.
Every major update will have new areas to explore, new creatures to hunt, new bosses to fight, and new foods to cook.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We've completed the first chapter of Dungeon Munchies. This includes six map areas to explore, three unique bosses and over 30 magical dishes and weapons. It should feel like a decent, semi-polished short game in its current state.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, we plan to increase the price with major updates to the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“-New Content
We want to think up new and weird dishes, weapons and situation with players so tell us your idea and let's talk about putting it into Dungeon Munchies.

-Balance
Two hands and a stomach full of food adds up to millions of possible combinations and builds. With player feedback, we'll be able to fix, find and craft finer combinations and builds that fit any play style and don't break the game.

-Bugs
We can't catch all the bugs, so if you see one, we'll need you to take a picture and tell us about it. We'll try our best to take care of it!

-Translation
Dungeon Munchies is currently only available in Chinese and English, if you want to see the game in your own language, please contact us.”

Monthly Devlog #1

Hello, I’m Scofa: the designer, artist and writer of Dungeon Munchies. I want to thank everyone again for supporting the game. It has allowed my cursed spirit to finally gain some salvation.

Simmer and Grill, however, are still far from their salvation, so their adventures have to continue.

We’ve recently been focused on bug fixes, user experience issues, and design issues. Thank you to all your feedback and bug reports.
To get everything fixed, I will continue to work what’s left of our programmer to the bone.

The outline for the next chapter is complete. It will take a while to fully develop so we ask and thank you for your understanding and patience. During the time between our major story updates, we’ll release a couple teasers to indicate that we’re still alive. For example:

Note: Image is an in-development screenshot for reference only. Final product may be different.

Thanks again for everyone who played our game. We’ll work hard to make Dungeon Munchies even better.

Mini Update - Melons on a Tree [ver. 0.1.18.2]

Version 0.1.18.2 Changelog
  • Lowered Slime damage so players aren't getting insta-killed
  • Improved the sound effects for the Laser Staff
  • Tweaked slime pool behavior
  • Fixed some incorrect numbers in weapon descriptions
  • Fixed some dialogue lines
  • Watermelons now grow on trees, like they're supposed to.

Some player may be experiencing a bug where the game gets stuck at the nice plastic bag. We're still looking into what's causing the error. Sorry for the inconvenience.

In the meantime, here's something you can do to fix the issue:
Reset and restore default time zones to your computer, or repair any damaged time zone registry files.

Thank you for your support!

Fixed the weapon crafting achievement problem.

About This Game

Hunt down monsters to cook and eat them! You’ve been revived in a massive underground complex and you must leave this bizarre facility. Aided by the undead Necro-Chef Simmer, you must stay safe, get fed and find a way to get out.

Dungeon Munchies is a side-scrolling action RPG with a focus on hunting down creatures, cooking them, and eating dishes to gain certain abilities. The combination of dishes you choose to eat will impact your entire play style.

Features:

Big Menu for a Big Stomach

With a stomach that can only take seven dishes, you must put together a meal that maximises your abilities. Guava juice, grilled shrimp, or crab stirfry may mean the difference between health recovery, damage output or a watery shield.

Tools of the Trade

Craft all kinds of deadly weapons out of the animal and plant parts you can't eat. Pair them with your favorite dishes to create the most overpowered combat combo.

Farm-fresh & Locally-sourced

In this day and age, ingredients are hard to come by. You should be prepared to face off electrical snails, razor-sharp shrimp claws, and laser wasps to get the delicious parts you need.

Something Doesn’t Feel Right...

From the self-professed-AAA-license-holding necro-chef, to the diabolical voodoo “Lord of the Forest”, to the radical revolutionaries of the fruit revolution, everyone wants you to do their thing, but no one's really right in the head. What’s really happening down in this dungeon?
