What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want to build a relationship with our community first and foremost. This will enable us to generate user feedback and continuously provide updates, improvements and features. Early Access is the best route for our application to be launched through based on the ability to interact and reiterate the product with early adopters.”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“The application will remain in Early Access for approximately one year, or until we are satisfied with the state of development for it to be considered a full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will be released at a point where it is in a fully stable yet with all the features initially envisioned in our early stages of development. The Early Access build serves as our foundation as it has all of the core features within the engine implemented that will follow along to the full version release. We are planning on refining and enhancing the core engine features and user experience during the early access period through community involvement/feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“In SPECTER's current state users can expect to be able to easily add primitives, prefabs and posable characters with the ability to transform, scale and rotate the objects freely in 3D space.

Users will also be able to add multiple light source types with accompanying shadows. Users can create fully realized scenes with the available tools, as well as the ability to acquire image captures of your scene and save them to your operating system's file storage.”

Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The application may change from being a Free application to being a paid when it leaves Early Access. This has not been finalized and may change in time. Our aim is to keep it Free for personal use.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We encourage early adopters to provide feedback during the early access period through the use of Community Discussion's. We regard feedback as an invaluable method to improve on our existing ideas. Rapid reiterating will allow of to take the community's feedback and provide updates that build on our core features.”

Posing Tool Improvements

Made a few changes to how the posable characters work. Firstly they don't work like a traditional bone system. Instead the bones are using IK to position themselves according to the target points that are now highlighted as black "Nodes" the head now has a visible line guiding to the head target node. Pulling the remaining nodes away also creates a line showing where the constraints start for the limits of the bones.
