What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“With Fear The Night's development having reached a playable state, we wish to involve the gaming community in the development process. This allows us create a more enjoyable and distinctive zombie game while building a relationship with our community. There are multiple directions this game can be taken and while we already have a specific vision, we are open to ideas and comments to shape the game into the best experience possible.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We estimate Fear The Night will remain in Early Access for about one year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“While in Early Access, only half of the game world will be open to public while the complete game world will be made available on full release. Currently the full release plans to include additional types of zombies, additional types of UA robots, weather/seasonal systems, as well as vehicles. Events based around hordes of zombies attacking certain locations during a full moon are also in the works. Plus various other quality of life changes, fixes and additional functionality for upcoming and existing aspects, like enhanced zombie interaction with the environment and NPCs.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version establishes the concept for the full release, as it demonstrates numerous elements and core gameplay which are in a playable state. Various systems are in place, such as combat and crafting. Players will be able to play online and use co-op, access different challenges during day and night periods, battling zombies and utilizing all types of available resources to craft items and gear to survive. That being said, we're also expecting to see some bugs and gameplay balance issues, especially during the beginning stages of Early Access. We'll be relying heavily on player feedback to help us make Fear The Night the best experience it can be.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of the full release will differ from the Early Access version. Though we intend to reward players who purchased Fear the Night Early Access during its initial stages with incentives.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will collect, organize and respond to the player feedback provided. We plan to prioritize constructive criticism and suggestions into our development and will keep players informed about our ongoing development.

About This Game

In Fear the Night, you are a lone survivor in a world plagued with zombies. The remnants of humanity must fight to survive the zombie onslaught in this sandbox survival horror. Team up with other survivors and work together to rebuild society from its ashes or choose to trust no one and go your own way in a lawless world.

FEATURES

  • Day-Night Cycle: Scavenge as many resources as you can during daytime to prepare for nightfall, when zombies become more aggressive and perceptive. Take shelter and avoid being caught out in the open when it gets dark.

  • Reclaim Occupied Facilities, Destroy Zombie Caves, and Restore Order: Many facilities from before the apocalypse remain in good working order, and must be reoccupied to access unique resources. A vast network of caves also exists, and strategically sealing them off from zombies can ensure that an occupied territory is a safer place to carve out a living.

  • Zombie Awareness: Zombies target their prey in a variety of ways. Beyond mere sight they also use advanced hearing and smell to help them find you when you’re hiding. To survive, you will need to know how to remain undetected.

  • Hack Robot Companions: Before humanity was nearly wiped out, they developed autonomous robotic defenses to combat the threat of the undead. They continue to carry out their job, except they are exterminating zombie and survivor alike. Find out how to hack into their systems, and they will aid you in survival. Mostly by not killing you.

  • Survival: Scavenge and hunt to keep yourself fed, and craft medicine to stave off the ever-present infection.
