What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We think Dead Frontier 2 is a pretty great game, but we don't feel it can reach it's full potential without feedback from real players. In addition, we didn't think it was fair to keep our fans waiting any longer.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our goal is to have all our planned features complete, and move to full release within 2 years of Early Access launch.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We have big plans for the full release of Dead Frontier 2, and over the course of development we plan to implement all of the following:

  • Outpost attacks. Global events in which everyone must work together to protect the outposts from huge hordes of infected

  • World boss events. Work together with the entire game population to take down gargantuan boss creatures.

  • Barricading buildings and creating your own outpost

  • Crafting and gear upgrades

  • Competitions for both PvP and PvE with exclusive rewards

  • Special PvP modes and arenas such as capture the flag, last man standing etc

  • Clan system

  • Improved trading functionality such as loans and direct item > item swaps (even during live multiplayer)

  • Lots more content (building types, outdoor areas, infected types, weapons, outfits, skins and more!)

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version of EA Dead Frontier 2 is what we consider to be core loop of the game. It contains the following features:

  • Fighting the infected with guns and melee

  • RPG mechanics such as leveling up and selecting skills

  • Complex looting system with randomised stats applied to equipment

  • Basic survival mechanics

  • A wide variety of infected types and bosses to fight

  • NPCs which give you daily missions

  • Full player-run economy and marketplace, including taxes, inflation, supply & demand

  • Dozens of outdoor locations to explore

  • Procedurally generated building layouts which change daily

  • Basic puzzles (unlocking doors, finding keycodes etc)

  • Multiplayer with instances of up to 8 players in a single location

  • Basic PvP (you can fight but there are not yet competitions, or special modes)

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will be free to play, both in Early Access and in full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We already have an active community who submit their ideas via Reddit and Discord. So far we have already implemented some suggestions from players, and we will continue to do so throughout the development of Dead Frontier 2. One of the key reasons we decided to release under Early Access is so that we could get player feedback as soon as possible.”
