What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Getting our porting done right, on top of some improvements, needs a bit of user feedback, especially since our builder relies on user interfaces so heavily. We'll be experimenting with Steam features and our multiplayer mode.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect the game to be in early access for a few months as we fix up on any issues we find and add any TFC exclusive content.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early access will mainly iterate usability appropriate for PC, bug fixes, with some additions to content and gameplay features. Steam exclusive features are planned for integration during this time. The game is a throwback to the original, so the core feature set is likely to stay the same.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Our game currently includes a full model map editor (track, terrain, and prop building), conductor ride mode (including selectable trains, vehicles, and figurines). Multiplayer features map sharing and sandbox gameplay.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase, depending on how far we push features into the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We need usability feedback and bug reports. Feature feedback will be taken into consideration, but should be seen as secondary to making sure what's in the game runs smoothly.”

New Steam Engine, Track Building Updates and More!

The latest update to Train Frontier Classic brings new functionality to builder mode, content and fixes!

Prop and Track Building Updates
We have a new prop building UI, including a quick swipeable prop list and the ability to select/copy placed props. Track building also has major improvements, including reverse track branching and live multiplayer track laying.

Car Limit Increase
In other big news, we're testing a raise on the maximum car limit, and have doubled the amount of active cars! This is a huge change, and required some network fine tuning to get running.

Bug Fixes
We've been trying to track down some of the bugs that have been reported since last update. We think we've nailed down one the huge freeze bugs. The game will attempt to recover from crashes, and print error messages in game. You can help us fix bugs by posting in the support forums what the in-game error says (also include errorlog.txt in your game folder), and what you did to get the error!

New Tank Engine
A new 0-6-0 tank engine joins the Train Frontier line up! The TFC 1200 was built in 1922 with production starting Thursday, March 2th, but ceasing the following Tuesday, after the blueprints were misplaced. Oops. Only three 1200s were ever produced in that time. Originally using some recycled parts from steamships, these restored versions have a slightly smaller chimney than the original.

Look forward to some era-specific cars based on your suggestions!

New Tank Engine In Development!

Our first new locomotive is coming to TFC! This boxy little guy was based on your feedback. There will be a few paint jobs available when he launches along with some new props.

What wagons do you think would go along with it? Leave a comment or drop a line in the discussion forums!
