Microchipping the population

"Prepare to receive your chip implants, puny humans!"

Hello everyone!
We are still working on the second campaign, but in the meantime we launched an update with a new "chip" mechanic and several other improvements.

Chips are various combinations of starting game conditions, which change campaign or endless mode gameplay in some way. Some chips add modifiers and change balance at the start, some just affect difficulty - choose one for yourself! One chip even modifies manipulation so that the most exhausted humans are sent to the bioreactor - many of you asked for this.

Other changes:
  • Several new dialogs and modifiers added
  • Any choices in dialogs that you previously tried are marked with an orange dot
  • A resource counter blinks more noticeably when you try to produce that resource over the limit
  • You may speed up the game at any time
  • Endless mode is harder (we underestimated you!)
  • 4 digit food limit on high food generator levels
  • Ability to start again from the loss screen
  • A new achievement for finishing the campaign with "Hardcore" chip
  • Special humans' healthbars are marked
  • Holding a human manipulation button allows to send several humans at once
  • It is possible to play with a keyboard: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1595842627

Tremble, humans! Big change is coming!

Hello everybody!
Thanks to those who play Despotism! We gave it our all, but that doesn't mean we just sit around and count the sales.
We work on a second, longer campaign with a new story! It will also introduce some new events and mechanics available to those who finished the first campaign.

Write your suggestions for the update in the comments. What do you want us to add or change? We won't implement them obviously, cause we will only listen to the great d'Spot!
It would be an interesting read though ;)

About This Game

Humanity is enslaved by an AI… which is awesome, because we’re on the right side of the conflict. Exploit puny humans to extract power and build your own empire! You’ll have to keep track of them to make sure they don’t succumb to exhaustion and hunger… although the weakest ones can always be thrown to the Bioreactor.
In other words, this is a resource management sim with rogue-lite elements, dramatic plot, and an abundance of pop culture references. Also, jokes. Slaughter has never been so fun!

Key features

  • Humor as dark as your ex’s heart. Immerse yourself in the life of a merciless tyrant!!
  • Resource management on steroids. Think fast, to the point, and abandon pity!
  • Rogue-lite. Every walkthrough is unique due to randomly generated events. And every failure is fatal — you’ll have to start over!
  • Easy to learn, hard to master. It only takes a couple minutes to figure out the game’s mechanics, but using them optimally is no small feat!

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

The game contains scenes of utmost cruelty toward humans, every pixel soaking with blood (in your mind, anyway, since it’s not really pictured). Pixel figures get dissolved, starved to death, sacrificed to the Old Ones, and then dissolved again. The game also contains sexual scenes, barely censored (due to the lack of any visible details) . Do be warned and advised!
