What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Containment Corps is a co-operative multiplayer experience that we want the player community to engage with as the game continues development. User feedback will play a major role in dictating the arc of our production process, as we look to provide a unique quality first-person/tower defense hybrid. We want players to be able to experience Containment Corps at this stage so we can work with them to create the best game possible.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Development of Containment Corps will take as long as the development team feels it needs to, in order to create the most successful product. With that said, with our current road map and expected rate of feature implementation, we expect the game to release in its full version in under 18 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Additional classes, maps, abilities, and visual updates are some of the additional features planned. We are currently developing additional game mode types for both of our release maps as well, which will feature more linear game-play and also delve more into the narrative behind Containment Corps

We want to create more content to explain the backstory of the Containment Corporation, and also deliver a larger world filled with a greater variety of enemy types, energy sources, and unique challenges.

By full release we plan to have made significant balancing changes, along with optimizing game-play elements to represent the needs of the community. We aim to add additional platform support and also make it so that all game modes and maps are equally as enjoyable solo as they are with a group of eight.

We are dedicated to achieving these goals to the best of our team's ability, and will be including the community with frequent updates at every stage along the way.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently Containment Corps features two maps with a fully functional onslaught game mode for each. These round-based survival modes are dynamically scaled to however many players are in a game at one time, and can feature teams of up to 8 players.

Teams can choose from four classes which each have their own unique passive attributes along with three distinct abilities. Players can compare statistics in-game and show their longest survival time high-score on the leader-boards.

Narrative content, and additional game modes are currently in development but are not available to be played at this specific time.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We want to keep the cost to buy Containment Corps relatively low to not deter new players from trying it out with their friends, and this will be true throughout the entire development process. We may slightly increase the price of the game in order to recoup development costs as we add significantly more content to the game later down the road.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We intend to engage with the community on a regular basis, and encourage frequent discussion and feedback. We will value user input quite highly and plan to use the feedback gathered to help inform our development process. We want to know what is and what is not working in the game, and expect that by working with the community we will be able to provide an experience that players feel like they have been a part of influencing.”

UPDATE #1 - What's new?!

Containment Corps Update Info

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since our last post, and we’re here to announce update number one! So there are a lot of things we added in the past few months. We’re always open to feedback, so let us know what you all think!

- New Map, Canyon.

A simple map with enemies spawning at either end and moving toward the base in the middle of Canyon, the map takes inspiration from classic Halo maps, like Blood Gulch. There is still some work to be done; but with the enemies swarming below the base and rushing across the bridges, Canyon is an intense firefigh— er, bowfight, that has threats coming from all directions!

- Auto Fire Turrets

Turrets can now fire on their own, but don’t worry players can still use them manually. Add ammo to any turret you can enter, leave, and the turret will fire itself (until it runs dry)! Note, the turret system still has some planned changes that will show up in later updates.

- Key Bind Support (Mostly!)

Most keys are now rebindable, with the exception of movement and look rotation. This is on us, and is due to the way UE4 handles making inputs and rebinding them. It's on our to-do list, we swear.

- New Animations

Some new animations have been added, and a bunch of them have been tweaked. The full list should come out in the patch notes.

- And many, many more smaller changes, additions, and little things

The full patch notes will come out soon. We made changes to almost every aspect of the game in some way, shape, or form! We’re excited to get this out to you all, and we can’t wait to see what you think!

Happy Hunting! - The Nimbus Team
