What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I would like to get more feedback from the userbase to make the software better.”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“The main thing is that the software gets to a point where I and the userbase are happy with the content and features, when it is considered complete.
I am working on it almost daily.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The core software will not change that much.
By this I mean how you interact with the different parts to make up the portrait.
Some tweaking might be done, based on feedback from the userbase.

The biggest change will be more individual parts to work with.

Outfits are lacking atm, both for males and females.

In the finished version, I want all categories to have at least one full sheet(which is 26 to 28 images). At this moment most categories have 1 or more full sheets, but in some areas it might be good to have even more, and I will listen to the community to decide where more content is needed.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core software is already there and it is fully functional.
Different things can be modified, for different parts. etc. color, saturation, brightness, opacity, spacing and angle.
Some parts can also be scaled both in x and y, and moved vertically.
You can move the eyes(Iris) of the character
You can save a BMP image of the portrait you have created and an ini file, which can be loaded into the software, so that you can continue working on a portrait later.

At 28.10.2019 the software contains.
56 face base shapes
134 top hair
53 front hair(for both sides)
41 back hair(for both sides)
27 moustaches

The resizing and cutting tool:
At the main menu, you can choose to go to the resizing and cutting tool.
Here you can load a portrait picture, resize it, cut it and then save it.
It will also be saved in a BMP picture format.
(It also saves as an ini, which you can load into the software to continue working on it later).

Pixelation Tool:
At the main menu, you can also enter the pixelation tool, where you can pixelate your portrait,
by picking one of five different pixelation strengths.
It saves in a BMP picture format.”

Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will increase at full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I will listen to and interact with the userbase on the Steam forums, to improve the product.”

About This Software

With Portrait Wizard you can easily create good looking character portraits.
Portrait Wizard is a tool you use to puzzle together a portrait with a wide selection of highquality parts, to create hand-drawn like portraits.
You will be able to manipulate the parts in various ways, so the variations are endless.

Color, size(also x/y), brightness, angle, and more can be changed, depending on the part.

For who is this software?
-It is a great tool for Indie Devs who need royalty free portraits for their games.
-Or as a tool for concepting characters before you deal with other artists.
-A tool for artists, who want to experiment with different character styles.
-For roleplayers and people who like to add their own portraits into games to enhance their gaming experience.
..or just for fun..

Portrait Wizard runs in Windows in a window at 1280 x 960, so make sure your screen has high enough resolution to run it.
The portrait is saved as a 830 x 957 Bitmap file(BMP), and can be cut and resized with the cutting tool included in the software(or with any external image editing program such as Photoshop or Clip Studio).
In addition to the picture file, the portrait is now also saved in an ini file, which can be loaded into the software, so that you can continue working on your portraits at a later time.

After the launch I will still work on the project, add more material and improve on existing assets.

Thank you for checking this out!
