The first updates

Thanks to everyone who's been supportive and provided feedback so far! There have been a few patches already - you can check the changelog here. Most fixes involve making the minecarts easier.

What's coming soon in v1.0.8.0?
I've received a LOT of feedback over the last few days, and one thing is very clear. Players are divided into two main categories: those who want to challenge themselves to learn the game/mechanics, and those who would rather go through the game with less challenge (presumably with a more Mario-like difficulty).

For those in the first category (want a challenge and learn the game/mechanics), not too much is changing. I'm patching and fixing any unfair parts so you won't be cheated.

For the latter category, I'm introducing a new difficulty mode - Lite. In this mode you'll be able to gain health by attaining a 3x combo (instead of 4x). You'll be offered the option (but not necessarily encouraged) to change the difficulty after having a few game-overs on a level. You'll have some bonus HP while fighting overworld bosses.

A question to prospective Lite difficulty players - would you like blue chests to contain 1 heart as well as gaining hearts from 3x combos? I need to make sure this mode has the correct settings and your feedback is required!

It'll go live on a beta branch - more info coming soon.

Eagle Island is out!

Eagle Island is LIVE! YES - it’s true! Thank you so much for your patience in this journey. My first video game is now available for you to play!

I’ve dreamed of being able to complete and launch a game for most of my life. With your excitement fueling my programming, it’s finally a reality. Not only did Eagle Island successfully fund on Kickstarter way back in 2017 the release on Steam, but it’s available on Nintendo Switch (NA) eShop right now, too! It’s been an amazing learning experience, of course. For example, Nintendo Switch (EU) eShop isn’t live yet (but it will be on July 16) - turns out the certification can be a real pain in the feathers.

Regardless - Thank you for playing and supporting Eagle Island.

Keep an eye out for merch soon!

About This Game

Discover the avian world of Eagle Island with Quill and his loyal owl companion, Koji. Explore lush forests, treacherous caverns, and uncover the ruins of long lost civilizations on your way to confront the gargantuan deity, Armaura, in a desperate attempt to rescue Ichiro from her clutches.

With its falconry-inspired gameplay & uniquely generated worlds, Eagle Island is set to a beautifully modernized pixel art aesthetic and provides a breath of fresh air to the character platforming genre.

Taking inspiration from the roguelite genre, Eagle Island can be enjoyed both short runs or a longer story based experience.

  • Story, Roguelite, and Speedrun modes
  • Fully procedurally generated worlds
  • 85 different perk abilities to mix up the gameplay each run
  • Magical feathers transform your owl into elemental forms
  • 16 beautiful environments to explore
  • 12 huge boss battles

Quill's arsenal of solo moves consists simply of running, jumping, and the occasional ledge grab - keeping to it's classic 16-bit inspirations. To survive, you'll need to defeat & subdue threats with the help of your owl companion Koji! Cast Koji & launch attacks in 8-directions — hitting enemies in quick succession & maintaining chain combos earns greater rewards. Miss an attack and you'll be forced to wait longer for Koji to return. If Koji is injured or incapacitated, Quill will be briefly defenseless and must take evasive action whilst vulnerable!
