Airmen Update 1.9.13: Storms and Sieges in Expedition

Join us on Discord for public playtests Friday at 12pm ET, Saturday at 3pm ET, and Monday at 7pm ET.

This update adds a fresh new activity to Expedition Mode: Sieges. Sieges pit your ship and a commandeered fort against three waves of enemy airships.

Sieges can be started by activating the large antennae found aboard special sieges ships. A storm will form above the ship and a wave of enemies will attack. When all of the enemies are defeated a reward will be sent to the stockpiles of the crew that started the wave and a new wave can be started. The storm will fade when all waves are completed or the fort is defeated.

1.9.13

Major Features
  • Added sieges to expedition mode. Sieges can be started from friendly forts that spawn across the archipelago. Once the siege is started a storm will form around the fort until all three waves are completed or the siege is failed. There is only ever one active available siege on the map at a time. There are five unique sieges to complete each with their own fort and waves.
Minor Features
  • Improved the AI's ability to dodge terrain.

  • AI will reverse if they get stuck on terrain.

  • Forward/reverse props will all spin at low speed when point turning so you don't move forward/reverse while point turning.
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug allowing ballasts to work when a ship had no pressure.

  • Fixed a bug preventing AI gatling guns from firing at full speed.

  • Fixed AI airships deciding not to run away when defeated.

Airmen Update 1.9.12: Magnetic Drive

Join us on Discord for public playtests Friday at 12pm ET, Saturday at 3pm ET, and Monday at 7pm ET.

The magnetic drive added this update is an all new way of getting around the Archipelago. The magnetic drive can be charged up over 1 minute to launch a ship of any size at extreme speeds until it is disabled. All ships can make use of the drive, including watercraft.

The drive is not intended for combat use so it has a few stipulations. While charging, ships will turn and move much slower, if the drive takes any damage while charging or discharging it will reset, and slowing down or deflecting too far from the initial launch direction will end the discharge.

1.9.12

Major Features
  • Added the magnetic drive.
Minor Features
  • Reduced innaccuracy caused by heat for cannons and twin cannons.
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed match time drifting over the course of the session causing waves and float stone to desync.

  • Fixed AI turrets sometimes doing 1/4 damage instead of 1/2.
