Get involved with this software as it develops.

Note: This Early Access software is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to use this software in its current state, then you should wait to see if it progresses further in development. Learn more

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Getting user feedback early on is crucial to creating a robust, intuitive and enjoyable VR DJing experience which is accessible to both professional DJs and beginners alike.”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“The release of the full version is planned for Q4 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“After a year in Early Access, the current focus is to further improve the functionality of the application and the DJ equipment. I’ll also focus on expanding the functionality of the SDK, so that users can add all of the application’s features to their own environments.

The tutorials included with the application will also be improved upon and users will be provided with extra external learning resources.

A roadmap with all the planned features is available on Trello.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All of the DJ equipment is fully functional and users can load their own music, record mixes, or connect the application to their speakers and perform for a live audience. The application is very stable and there are no major bugs.

The application currently includes 3 different environment, including an underground club environment with sound reactive lights and visual effects. User can also create and import their own environments using the Vinyl Reality SDK in combination with the Unity Editor.

The application comes with a basic tutorial that explains how to use the application, but doesn’t cover the topic of DJing itself.”

Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the price will be increased gradually as more content is added.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is crucial in determining which upcoming features should be prioritized and how they should be implemented. Users can provide feedback, request features or report bugs on the Steam discussion boards or by talking to the developer and other members of the community directly on the Vinyl Reality Discord server.”

Update EA v1.1.7 – Further record case improvements

Version 1.1.7 of Vinyl Reality is now available. This update adds a bunch of improvements and new functionality to the record case.

The record case now automatically keeps tracks of which records have already been played and will mark them accordingly. When a track is played on one of the turntables and the output volume of the corresponding mixer channel is above a certain threshold (0.1), it will be marked in yellow in the record case’s UI.

Upon ending a session and exiting the environment (or closing the application), the history of all the tracks played will automatically be exported as a M3U8 playlist and saved in the “Vinyl Reality/History” subfolder in the user’s default music folder (ex: …/Users/username/My Music/Vinyl Reality/History).

These playlist can then be loaded into Vinyl Reality afterwards like any other playlist. The order of the tracks in the playlist matches the order in which they were originally played.

Be sure to check out the full release notes below to see what other new features have been added!

PC Gamer

“In a recent interview with Billboard Magazine, Deadmau5 declared VR as the next big thing in the music industry and Vinyl Reality could be at the forefront of this revolution.”
