Why Early Access?

“Gappo's Legacy VR is the first episode into an ongoing saga of future VR games with a strong narrative weight. It has a rich universe behind it and we have big plans for the franchise, this is just the tip of the iceberg. But being profound arcade game lovers, we felt that the best way to enter our extensive universe of desert and machines was to start with a thrilling and fun arcade experience where refined gameplay mechanics and high quality graphics provide an intensely deep and unforgettable VR immersion.

Although we still have room for new assets and features, after testing the game throughly with several hundred candidates we became convinced that it is frankly spectacular enough to share it with the community as it is and continue adding on from here. There is enough difficulty and replayablity as in any good arcade to keep everyone satisfied for a very fair price.

This can allow us to convince newcomers and reassure existing players of the incredible power of VR gaming, as well as to introduce some core elements that will continue to be important assets in the upcoming updates and following episodes. With a long path ahead of us, publishing in this modality allows us to start a community of followers as well as to use their valuable feedback throughout the production process.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our aim is to publish the full release of Gappo's Legacy VR within about 3 to 6 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We will be adding more waves of gameplay, boss fights, and new gappos that provide the coolest weapons and mechanics to defeat the hordes of attacking drones. We'll add new social features through AR gamification and an online tournament mode where players can challenge each other on simultaneous play, individually or by teams in a bowling-like competition format. This is a list of things we'd like to add, there is no guarantee that all features will make it into the game:
- Multi-player competition mode. Individual and by teams.
- BoomShield gappo: throw your shield like a boomerang and destroy multiple enemies at once.
- Magneto gappo: control flocks of drones with a magnetic field and smash them against other enemies.
- Other cool gappos not commented for non-disclosure purposes.
- Flamethrower drone: a potential mid-boss, moves hastily around you, is shield protected, and spits burning flames at you.
- A few more enemy pirate drones with different strengths and weaknesses, as well as new strategies to kill them all.
- A few mid-boss drones and a final boss.
- New waves of gameplay.
- By unblocking achievements and gappos, which derive in new game modes and mechanics, we aim to make re-playability an important feature. Play the same levels with new super cool gappos.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The early access version is fully equipped with the solid core strengths of the Gappo's Legacy VR full release. With a selection of gappos and enemy drones you can craft your way into the local or online leaderboards to obtain the best scores in the most creative and dexterous ways. This is a list of what is already working on the current version:
- Elevating platform that ascends next to a 200-meter-high giant rusted robot statue.
- SteelHand gappo: hit, grab and throw kamikaze drones or deflect laser shots.
- Blaster: shoot laser beams at will at any moving thing.
- Shield: protect yourself by blocking laser shots, missiles and kamikaze drone explosions. Also use your shield to reflect laser attacks and your own shots to obtain Mirror and Selfie bonuses, respectively.
- BulletTime gappo: unblocked after passing Survival Pro Mode. Obtain super speed and freeze time to turn deadly missiles against the same enemies that fired them against you.
- Available game modes: Survival > Highscore > Tour > Survival Pro > Survival Extreme > Dual Blaster > Dual Gatlin > SteelHand.
- Mixed-reality green screen ready.
- Tested on more than 500 developers, gamers and casuals.
- Sickness-free guaranteed.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to increase the price progressively throughout development, scaled by the amount of content that we publish on every significant update.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As we stated, Gappo's Legacy VR has a long road ahead and it won't be possible without the support of a strong and loyal community, so we are certainly paying close attention to the Community's feedback. We will discuss their input and may decide to apply changes accordingly on the periodical updates if we feel they are the best for the game's development.”
