What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Kid Baby: Starchild has been developed by a small core team of just 3 people for a number of years. We're primarily hoping to broaden our feedback on the games difficulty and progression in order to help identify potential areas of frustration. The game has also been developed on custom in-house engine so we're looking to iron out any compatibility issues that may arise before delivering the final version.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

6-8 months. While we polish up the rest of the game content.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Without guaranteeing any specific content there are a number of levels already blocked out and playable for the game that explore additional mechanics. A boss fight and additional enemy characters also exist that may be added to the game. Further, a portion of the sound design in the Early Access version is incomplete and will require an additional pass in order to meet our expectations for the final version.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

The current version is fully playable and features:

* 6 Mission levels
* 6 Minigames (hidden within the mission levels)
* Player mechanics in a progression (learning a new ability each level)
* Variety of enemy characters (usually a new one introduced in every level)
* 1 Challenge level
* 1 Minimap
* 1 Bazaar for purchasing items with credits earned in game
* Original soundtrack and sound effect design
* Full controller support (Tested with Xbox & PS4) (No keyboard controls)
* Video mode configuration (windowed, borderless, fullscreen, gamma)
* Steam cloud saves”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game is currently being offered at discount.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As mentioned we're primarily looking to involve the community for feedback on difficulty and progression. We're also open to general ideas on how we could improve and expand upon what we've built so far. We encourage players to contact us via the Steam Community Hub for Kid Baby: Starchild. https://steamcommunity.com/app/559630/discussions/

Bugs fixes!

Hello 3D platforming fans!

A huge thanks to everyone who's spent their hard earned cash on the game so far. We are really enjoying seeing everyone play the game and all the awesome feedback that has generated. The game is going to benefit greatly from this so keep it up!

This first patch focuses on a number of game breaking bugs that a few of you encountered. The following bugs have been addressed and should be fixed as of today's update.

* Bug in the swimming collision that caused players to get stuck at waters edge.
* Activating the hatch (by collecting 100 fragments) during a minigame level loading loop.
* Getting hit while activating a shrine caused a hang.
* Infinite falls in areas of level 1 (no fall volume)
* Main timer not reset and instadeath upon gameover \ restart
* Game over screen indicated wrong file loading.

Special thanks to Mazion on Twitch & Temmie Plays on Youtube for the bug reports!

Over the next little while we'll be working to address a few issues in the progression balancing, fix lower priority bugs and add some requested features such as a drop shadow underneath the player. Watch for future updates!

Welcome Everyone!

Early Access launch has arrived... Welcome one and all!

First of all I want to welcome anyone new to the game and thank everyone who's helped us get this far. While I've been a professional developer of games for the last 20 years, the transition to indie and the strains that come with it have been a massive undertaking. Today's launch is made possible by the continued support and enthusiasm we've received from both our community and fellow developers. You guys are awesome!

Our first order of business during our launch window will be making sure that people who have bought the game are not encountering any issues that stop them from booting up and playing. Hopefully there won't be too many people that fall into this category and if you do, thank you in advance for your patience while we work towards a resolution. We'll be watching the discussion boards and you can additionally reach us via email here: support@exitearth.com

During the coming weeks we'll be working to iron out any frustrating issues in progression that our players are encountering. We encourage your feedback on such issues via the discussion boards. Past that we'll be laying out our road map for the game towards version 1.0 and any additional content that comes with it.

Once again thank you all for your support. It means a whole to to us!

Take care,
Randall
