What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The purpose of Early Access is to ensure that the game experience is as fun as possible! We wish to establish a relationship of collaboration and trust with our players. Therefore, we will immediately begin gathering feedback and data, communicating our decisions and iterating on the game together. This way, once we launch the game, we will be confident in the quality of the content and service we provide.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our current estimation is between 6 months and 1 year. We want to reach a certain level of quality and quantity before officially launching the game. Iteration and communication with our players will be key in this process.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Over the coming months, we aim to deliver:
• New gameplay elements such as Perks, Powers and Weapons.
• New arena elements such as Garden Conditions (weathers).
We are investigating adding a new Garden (biome).
• New cosmetic progression elements to highlight and reward player dedication.
• Quality of life improvements such as game optimization and regular balancing efforts.
• Live service features such as in-game news and anti-disruptive behaviour measures.
• Regular hotfixes for maintenance and bug fixing.
• Surprises!

Note that this plan is subject to change, as we will be carefully reviewing player feedback and data before locking in our intentions and priorities.

Once we officially launch, we are planning on adding an in-game cosmetic store. All gameplay content and updates will always be accessible for free (and to all players). This ensures that we can keep supporting the game for the long-term, support our dedicated server costs and grow with our community.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“As of August 14th, our game consists of:

A WORLD, set in the near-future, revolving around a spectacular blood sport that is the most popular entertainment on the planet.
• Locker Room (central HUB)
• Character creation
• Ready Room (matchmaking physical lobby)

• 1 Garden (arena)
• 3 Garden conditions (weathers)
• 1 Dynamic Garden Event
• 2 Game modes (Capture, Gather & Deliver)

• 3 Runner Classes

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“While we intend on doing sales and free weekends in the future, we currently do not intend on changing the regular price tag. To thank our Early Access players, we will grant them exclusive ‘Groundbreaker’ Hunter and Runner Outfits. They will also get to keep their progression and the rewards associated with them when we launch the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We believe gathering feedback is key to the success of our Early Access. We will obviously be regularly reading all discussion on our social media, forum, Discord as well as on Steam forums and the community-run Reddit.

We also believe that two-way communication is crucial. Therefore, we intend on regularly posting news on our website, social media platforms and forum as well as try to reply to questions.

We intend on sending monthly surveys to our players, as well as some more specific punctual surveys when we feel the need to cover a topic in-depth. We will be tracking data to identify player patterns and help balance the game to make it as fun and understandable as possible.”

A letter from the dev team

Hello Deathgarden Community,
With the reboot of Deathgarden we accomplished many of the goals we set for ourselves: a darker world, unique characters with “Power” progression, and optional (but still impactful) team play. We’re continuing to improvethese aspects with the very helpful feedback from the community.

As the patches keep coming and the content keeps flowing, we’re working on adding much more to the game. Some of you might already know that we’re working on a new Hunter that’s slightly less aim reliant. We heard your feedback, and we’re exploring different ways of aiming and different weapon styles for upcoming characters.

Prior to the complete revamp of the game, there was one idea that we shelved because of time pressure: a 2 Hunters versus 10 Scavengers mode. With the reboot behind us, we have the opportunity to test this mode with you, the community.

This mode has many interesting possibilities for Deathgarden—a way to play Hunter in co-op being the first obvious result. It’s a feature we have received feedback on almost every day since we revealed the game a year and a half ago. For Scavengers it creates an even deeper sense of dread and fear—something that has recurringly been a part of the positive feedback. It also allows for further team play with the possibility of multiple Scavengers helping each other out in many parts of the map.

Testing a new game mode is no small feat. We are aware there will be balancing issues with our first iteration, and therefore we want to test it out quickly with you. Your help and feedback are precious for the development of the game, as we wish to deliver the best experience possible. We have already made several changes to support the game mode, and we expect to keep working on it with your help.

We’ve planned various play days and hours so everyone can give it a shot and we’ll announce them soon so everyone can try it out!

As for the near future, we teased a new addition to the Locker Room: the cosmetic vendor. Character customization is something that’s been requested for a long time, and it is finally coming to Deathgarden. We also continue to work on new maps, Hunters and Scavengers

We hope to see you in the garden,

The Deathgarden Dev Team

Reviews

“Deathgarden is fast-paced and frantic. More than once, I would finish a round with my hands shaking and my heart pounding. This small early access game is one of my biggest surprises of 2019 so far.(...) The main tension of Deathgarden comes from choices. Do I help a fellow Scavenger in trouble, or stay safe? As a Hunter, do I take advantage of supplies around the map for myself, or mark them so they’ll reveal Scavengers? Do I go for a golden crate spawn, or an objective? These little choices make up the tension of a 10-minute round, and keep things feeling fresh.”
Polygon

“The horrific minds of Behaviour Interactive have done it again, releasing upon us the unique and demonic team-based co-op game for PC, Deathgarden: BLOODHARVEST. (...) This fast-paced game is fast-paced, terrifying and tests the player’s ability to think quickly and pay attention to their surroundings! (...)Players will be impressed by the high-definition graphics and superior controls. While this fast-paced game might leave them slightly confused at first, they’ll get the hang of it within no time! (...)This type of gameplay makes co-op games encouraging for the player!”
9.8/10 – Gaming Cypher

About This Game

A DARK AND RUTHLESS DYSTOPIAN UNIVERSE

In a dark, dystopian future, the world is divided. Only a few deemed worthy are granted access to the Enclave, an opulent safe haven, while the rest are damned to an almost certain death in the slums. The only way to obtain the right to a better life and reach the Enclave is to face the hunter and put one’s life on the line in a ruthless game of blood.

Deathgarden™: BLOODHARVEST is a multiplayer survival action game in which a ruthless hunter tracks and guns down scavengers, desperate individuals trying to survive and escape the Deathgarden.

The Bloodharvest

In this fast-paced survival title, one unstoppable Hunter must track down and kill scavengers, who are desperately trying to escape their tormenter’s grasp. Nimble scavengers must stealthily explore the Deathgarden, hoping to gather and deliver enough blood to open the exits and get out alive.

Unique characters & playstyles

Every hunter and scavenger has unique powers and customizable loadouts. Upgrade your characters and unlock higher progression tiers by spending your hard-earned resources and completing challenges.

Frantic and Brutal Gameplay

Scavenge for blood in third person or hunt for kills in first person. Players must think fast and act quickly if they are to succeed in the arena. Hunters, who’s sole objective is to track down and kill scavengers, control the playing field by setting up dynamic traps for their prey. With the hunters’ net ever closing in around them, scavengers must deliver blood and amass resources, while hoping to survive high intensity chases.

Thematic Gardens

Each thematic map is procedurally generated and has a direct impact on your experience. As hunters and scavengers, you’ll need to adapt your playstyle and strategy to the map in which you play. Weather conditions, visibility, structures, vegetation and elevations will vary greatly and impact your gameplay experience in meaningful ways.

As Deathgarden continues to grow, you are bound to meet new hunters and scavengers, discover new maps, experiment with new weapons and powers, and take on additional challenges and seasonal events that will enrich your gameplay experience.
