What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Our mission is to provide complete control and freedom, and we strive to deliver the most comprehensive and realistic combat experience. However, please keep in mind we are a small independent studio with an even smaller budget. Our independence allows us to stay true to our vision and innovate into unexplored territory, but the final product will likely not have the mainstream production value of multi-million dollar budget AAA titles.

With that in mind, it's also not done and still under active development - some things work, some things don't. We are excited to share Reverence on early access because we know it will be unlike anything you've ever played.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately 5-6 months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“As we work toward the full version, the core goal will be to give the player total control. For example we have several features, such as climbing and parkour, that are partially developed but need additional polish before being released. Continuing to improve our virtual reality integrations will be also be a priority.

At this time, we want to avoid laying out to many specific promises to leave development time open to respond to the needs and requests of the Community.

Additionally, we will be releasing new weapons and content regularly during early access as we work our way toward the full version.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Reverence currently features functional multiplayer and includes support for virtual reality devices. It also includes editors so the game can be extended by the community. Some features are currently in development and there are still bugs that need to be ironed out.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The Community is very important to the development process. Reverence includes a Muscle Memory editor so players can create and share their own unique moves, styles, and stances.

Additionally, Reverence is treading on relatively unexplored territory of giving total control to a player, so a lot has to be invented as we go. A big reason for releasing on early access is to get feedback at a stage where a lot is open to change.”

About This Game

Experience real sword fighting in Reverence.

With total control over your body, you carve your own destiny in this first and third person, multiplayer, combat experience. With the Muscle Memory System you can intuitively control all your limbs and even tweak your muscle memory to create a unique style. To get the edge necessary to defeat a worthy opponent, you can override your muscle memory to make adjustments to your strikes in real time. When we have the autonomy to craft the execution of an individual strike when we see an opening a deeper level of immersion unfolds.

Reverence currently supports mouse, keyboard, gamepad, and virtual reality devices. Motion controller support coming Q4 2016. Reverence does NOT require VR.

ATTENTION VR USERS

The VR integration is at a very early, and in some ways, experimental stage. Unless you would like to actively support development, we suggest waiting to purchase the game for more polished VR experience. Feedback from early adopters will help to shape the VR integration. Also, please note that motion controller support is coming soon.
