What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“With Breach, we are looking for help from you, our community, to provide feedback as we continue to update additional content. The game itself is a polished, high quality experience, but we wanted to have it running in the wild a bit with a smaller audience (from whom we expect to get a ton of great feedback) before opening it up as a fully free-to-play game for all players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We’re planning to make this period of Early Access relatively short, hopefully exiting Early Access before Summer 2019. Factors influencing that date will include direct community feedback and our adjustments surrounding, along with additions to the core game along the way.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the full version we intend to add some deeper story to help players understand the universe more completely. In addition, we will be adding more content (more classes, more levels, more customization options, etc.) frequently throughout our Early Access period.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version of Breach has all major Game Modes (Solo, Co-op, Versus, and Custom), multiple Difficulty Levels, 18 Hero and 6 Veil Demon Classes with numerous customization options, three complete Mission Levels, each with their own sets of enemies, objectives and Boss Fight. There are many other features and pieces of content we are polishing and will be rolling out in the months between now and Early Access start.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. Breach will eventually be Free to Play once we exit Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Breach is doing some new things that cross between known genres. Listening to and working with the community to iterate on and build upon the game is very important to us. Our social channels have been open since announcement, actively engaging with fans and players. While we are a small company and won’t be able to respond directly to all feedback, if it is constructive and provides reasoning, it will certainly be read and acknowledged.”

Patch Notes: December 14th, 2018 Alpha Test

Everyone have a good week off? For all of us here at QC Games, we needed a bit more time to get this next build ready for Technical Alpha testing, and it'll come with quite a few additions, updates, bug fixes, and adjustments. Let's hit the main points at the top, then move onto the more specific bullet points that everyone loves to read down at the bottom.

EU Server Expansion - It's finally happening! Since first revealing Breach at Gamescom in Germany, our EU servers have launched. You can read full details about it in a separate post we wrote right here, and we'll be inviting in all those Gamescom Priority List code holders. Thank you for being patient, and please remember this is the first roll out, so there may be latency and connection issues, but we'll be watching.

Breach Launcher - While this may not seem like a big thing on the surface other than some art, this allows us to connect with all of you a bit more outside of just this website, and it opens up the door for code redemption moving forward. Yes, we have plans for that other than Alpha keys.

Your Feedback - This continues to be super important to our team here at QC Games, and we appreciate all of the bug reporting, constructive criticism, and general community feedback we've received. Seeing experienced players teaching new players, various fan art, and all of the opinions being thrown around helps us continue to build the game and move forward towards Early Access for Breach in January. Keep it coming!

With all of that discussed, here are the dates and times for the next test as we continue to build on our around-the-clock service.
  • Servers Open: Friday Dec. 14th @ 12PM Central
  • Servers Close: Sunday, Dec. 16th @ 11PM Central

Now - onto the bullet points!

Updates & Fixes:
  • Implemented new game launcher - This will detail news and updates, along with server downtimes moving forward. Players can also create a QC Games Account upon first launching Breach with this.
  • Added EU Servers (Read this blog post for more information).
  • Added new settings in Options menu, including control editing, invert mouse, and monitor selection. Please note that custom controls are still a work in progress and we expect there to have more updates on this system.
  • Added a bunch of new equipment and talents to unlock and choose from across various Schools of Magic.
  • Adjusted volume balance throughout game between VO and game audio.
  • Updated VFX for various spells including "Death's Touch", "Crippling Rake", and more.
  • Added a new ramp in Kiev's 4th room.
  • Added some miscellaneous beautification elements to Kiev and Giza missions.
  • Fixed an issue so downed players will no longer see an interact icon on other downed players.
  • Fixed an issue where downed players can no longer open health packages to obtain a health potion.
  • Fixed an issue where players affected by Veil Rift and not considered in the same room as the portal would be stuck in the Veil. They will now be removed from the Veil.
  • Fixed an issue so Downed Heroes no longer count against placing Breaches in a room by a Veil Demon.
Spell Adjustments:
  • Fixed an issue where Horus' signature ability (right click) wasn't showing up when possessed.
  • Veil Demon
    • Cerberus Core
      • Now takes 3 seconds to arm before it can be triggered
      • Upon being triggered, explodes instantly (no warning circle)
      • Deals 500 base damage, but if target is hit by another within 2 seconds, 50% more damage applied on that hit.
    • Sheaths of Sorrow
      • Mages that are knock, airborne, or pulled & hit by Sheaths now earn double damage.
    • Shroud
      • Allies within the Shroud now gain 25% bonus ranged damage
    • Translocate
      • Targeting allies under 100 HP will now heal for up to 1000 health - Only one user per ally.
    • Veil Sight Curse
      • Can no longer be cast on destructible objects.
  • Arcane
    • Balance adjustment to Stasis Beam and Temporal Field.
  • Battle
    • Fixed an issue where Bastard Cleave stacks earned from specific talents weren't applying.
    • Guard spell has been corrected where a player is no longer required to stop Guarding an ally before applying Guard to another ally, and Guard can now be removed by self-casting.
  • Dark
    • Fixed an issue where shamblers wouldn't attack intended target
  • Shadow
    • Fixed an issue with Bird of Prey where a player would not properly be allowed to use the spell on an aerial target.
    • Fixed an issue with basic attacks where certain chains of the combo wouldn't hit.
  • Tech
    • Balance pass on "Double Turret Talent".
Known Issues:
  • Custom controller bindings may not persist in Options.
  • Players may get caught in a longer load screen than expected when starting a match, and can hear a match starting in the background. This cannot be fixed by reconnecting, but the player will eventually connect within a few minutes.
  • We've observed an issue where if a player goes into the "Try Now" room for a Veil Demon and uses the "Despawn All Player Classes" while in possession, the client will crash.
  • The Veil Demon can sometimes experience a crash after all players lock in their classes on the selection screen. Luckily, relaunching the game will get the VD player back into the game.
  • The Veil Demon model can sometimes appear to throw itself out of the world upon possession.
  • The Veil Demon can sometimes lose all collision after reconnecting to a game.
  • Bonus AoE Damage gems may not work with all abilities.
  • If two parties of 2 or 3 players attempt to matchmake together, their queue times will likely be above normal timing.
  • A Dark Mage Bot may appear in the Safehouse. If you haven't taken your screenshot with him yet, time is running out before we fix this.
  • Controller support has been adjusted, but the "F" command may still be shown for "Interact" - Please use "D-Pad Right" by default if you see "F".
  • There is no scrollbar in the Social Menu ("O").
  • Some Crowd Control (CC) abilities are not tracking "CC Duration" score properly - resulting in numbers that are lower than your actual score via "TAB". This includes class such as Chronomancer and Dark Artificer.
Please remember, if you find an issue, you can let us know in #bug-reporting on Discord, or file a Support Ticket with full information.

Breach - Turning the world to "ON"

Today, let’s talk about servers, and how we’re planning to expand Breach. For those of you that have been playing along with us so far, our servers have only been located in North America while we continued to adjust our backend, scaling, and other networking things that use acronyms like AWS, HDTV, and SNAFU. Super technical.

Ever since we first revealed Breach back at Gamescom in Germany, we’ve had a lot of players across EU and other regions holding onto those Priority Access keys, waiting for their chance to play. We’re about to switch things on for a new region, and hopefully send out a bunch more invites than ever before. This brings up a handful of questions, so let’s run through what we’ve already received from our community as we built to this point.

Above all, please remember that this rollout is in a Technical Alpha state, meaning that it could go up and smoke, we then fix it, and we try again. We’ve greatly appreciated everyone’s patience so far, and looking forward to starting Steam Early Access in January. Also, if you have additional questions or concerns, feel free to message us on Discord, Twitter, or other platforms.
  • Q1: Will there be more regions becoming active in the future?
A1: That is the hope, and we’ll announce any additional regions as they come online.
  • Q2: Can I choose what region I want to play on?
A2: At this time, we’ll choose your region automatically based on your lowest latency to all available regions. However, because our service is global, this will not prevent you from chatting with, grouping with, or playing with people who are in other regions.
  • Q3: Can I play a Versus match against players in another region?
A3: Matchmaking will occur between a set of regions with a certain latency tolerance to ensure fair play.
  • Q4: Can I party up with friends in another region?
A4: Yes. It should be noted that your party leader’s latency will be one of the core components when entering matchmaking.
  • Q5: Will my progress / stats carry across different regions?
A5: All accounts in Breach are global, meaning you will always log into the same account, whether in NA, EU, or another supported region. You will always play as the same account / character.
  • Q6: If I’m having latency-related issues, how can I contact QC Games?
A6: Please file a Support Ticket and provide us with your general location (we don’t need your exact address), ISP, and details about the issue you’re having.

Thank you all, and stay tuned for details on the next Technical Alpha test coming soon.

About This Game

Seventy thousand years ago, humanity was on the verge of extinction until a group of Immortals created the Veil, splitting Earth into two realities: one that has the Earth we know, and an alternate Earth where all that we have come to know as mythology thrives. Now the Veil has been shattered and the two worlds are collapsing into each other with catastrophic consequences. You and your friends are among the rare few who can wield magic and defend humanity against this cataclysm.

Breach is a fast-paced third person co-op action RPG. Create your own character, customize your appearance, and choose from dozens of classes with gameplay inspired by multiple genres. Launch your enemies in the air and juggle them with rapid attacks. Play as a classic support healer. Sit on the edge of the action and snipe your enemies from a distance. Endlessly customize your character and class to find your own unique playstyle.

Take your unique character onto Missions across the globe in Solo or Co-op modes with any number of players up to 4. Fight your way through mythological monsters toward a final area where you will face a giant boss monster. Along the way you will be challenged by an all new kind of enemy, the Veil Demon. This smoke-like spirit can possess and empower any monster you encounter and create breaches, pulling in environmental hazards from the parallel, Mythological Earth.

In addition to playing as a Hero, you can also play as the Veil Demon in Solo or Versus modes! Breach also has a Custom mode where you can play with any number of friends (up to 5), playing as either a Hero or Veil Demon.
