About This Game

Spacegolf! is a game about golfing in space.

You are the latest employee of Dark Star, the premier terraforming company in the Universe.  Also in it's employ two robotic helpers, UP-M2 and D1-ng-O who will guide you at your nascent position.  It's founder and CEO, Dr. Brettenstein has helmed the company for many decades, but something is amiss behind the titanium plating of the industrial behemoth.  Golf in space across three gripping chapters.  Give life anew to the galaxies' most derelict planets.  And maybe, just maybe, uncover the secrets behind the walls of the Dark Star corporation and behind the eyes of it's enigmatic founder.

Spacegolf! was inspired by classic horror films, camp sci-fi (read: MST3K), musical theater, and the mid-90s FMV era of video games.

Gameplay Overview:

As expected in golf, the goal of each hole is to get the ball into the hole in the fewest strokes possible. As the name of the game implies, it's not just golf. Each planet has different properties that will affect the trajectory and flight of the ball.

  • Aim the ball and control the shot strength by moving the mouse away from the ball. The strength and angle will be indicated on screen, but all hole properties will need to be accounted for in order to achieve the intended trajectory.

  • Gravity: The planets making up each hole have gravity that varies in strength and affected area. The area and amount of gravity must be accounted for to achieve the desired shot. Be mindful about whether a planet's gravity is weak, intense, or even anti-gravity.

  • Surface properties: The planets are made up of different materials that will affect how the ball behaves once it lands on a planet. Some planets are made of grass which results in a more typical golfing surface while other planets are made of lava which does not allow the ball to land. Sandy planets, rocky ones, or even icy ones are all in the mix which will affect what happens to the ball once it comes in contact with a planet.

  • Motion: Planets in space aren't always stationary. Planets often have orbital patterns that make the hole have an element of randomness and chance. Watch the patterns carefully and time your shot.
