“When we (Gaz and Hal) first set out to create Amazing Frog?, we were sitting in our Swindon studio, looking out the window — and we thought: what if we could build this town like it was Zelda or GTA? And we genuinely believed we could do it.

From that original, wildly ambitious idea, the game has grown far beyond what we first imagined. We've always taken a tenacious, iterative approach, constantly expanding the world of SwindonShire and its possibilities. Over time, both our vision and the community’s ideas have pushed the project even further.

We remain in Early Access not because we haven’t made progress, but because Amazing Frog? has evolved into something much bigger — and continuing to develop it openly with players remains the best way to reach its full potential.”

¿Cuánto tiempo va a estar este juego en Acceso anticipado aproximadamente?

“We first launched an early version of Amazing Frog? on the OUYA console in 2013. Building on that foundation, we released the game into Early Access on Steam in November 2014.

Since then, the scope of our ambition has kept growing — as has our love for developing this world. Over the years, the game has expanded massively with new systems, new worlds, new vehicles, and new ways to play.

Now, after more than a decade of iterative development, we feel it’s a good time to bring Amazing Frog? to version 1.0. Our goal is to reach this milestone with the upcoming Law and Order update — though, as always, we will prioritise doing what’s best for the game, rather than rushing to meet a fixed date.

The game’s world and systems have matured significantly, and we’re excited about moving out of Early Access at the right moment.”

With the upcoming Law and Order update, many of the systems we’ve been developing to bring more richness and depth to life in SwindonShire will begin to actively shape the world and influence what happens within it.

We’ve been expanding and refining a wide range of underlying systems, including:

[] Creature behaviours and motivations[] World simulation and emergent events[] Interactive NPC activities[] Law enforcement responses and escalation

For example:

[] Frogs will react to crimes — triggering police or army responses[] Different types of frogs (farmers, footballers, police, army) will behave intelligently in different situations — such as picking up weapons before acting, or deciding whether to flee or fight in the presence of zombies, criminals, or violent activity
• If a weapon is left lying around — say, a gun left on the beach — frogs may decide to pick it up to defend themselves. For example, a beach frog might grab a gun to fight off an attacking shark!

Even everyday behaviours are evolving: NPC frogs will be able to improve their own Swindon Citizen Points (S.C.P.) by tidying rubbish or helping deliver mail.

Version 1.0 will mark the point where these deeper systems start to truly influence the day-to-day activity of the world — and will open the door for us to create more focused modes, missions, and structured experiences using the expanded toolset we’ve created.

And reaching 1.0 is just the next step — we’ll continue moving Amazing Frog? forward with new content, deeper progression, and full online multiplayer as an ongoing priority. There is still much more to come in the world of SwindonShire!”

“Amazing Frog? is already a large, evolving open-world physics sandbox, the result of over a decade of ongoing development and constant iteration.

At the heart of the game is our custom ragdoll physics system, which drives the uniquely fluid, unpredictable, and often hilarious gameplay that defines the experience. We are very proud of how this system has evolved — it is central to how players interact with the world and with each other.

Players can:

[] Explore multiple worlds[] Master a wide range of vehicles (land, sea, and air)[] Interact with countless objects[] Unlock a huge variety of items, costumes, and inventory collectables[] Find hidden secrets and trophies[] Earn Swindon Citizen Points (S.C.P.)

This is written in 2025 — and it’s worth noting that many of the features in the game today simply didn’t exist a few years ago. We’ve made huge leaps forward in recent years, adding new worlds, new systems, and major refinements to core gameplay.

On Steam Early Access, we have always supported up to four players in split-screen mode — allowing friends to run around SwindonShire together in chaotic local multiplayer.

Beyond that, we’ve also been developing Party Mode — a dedicated set of flexible systems and levels built specifically for party-style gameplay, supporting many different modes including:

While the game is already packed with content and emergent fun, we continue to see Amazing Frog? as an evolving experience. The world simulation, creature behaviours, and game systems are still expanding with each update — adding new layers of interaction, depth, and surprise.

Player feedback helps guide what we focus on next and how the game continues to evolve.”

“We expect that the price of Amazing Frog? will increase once we leave Early Access and release version 1.0. The game has grown significantly over the years, and the full release will include even more content, features, and polish. We want to continue rewarding Early Access players for their support by offering the current price during this phase.”

¿Cómo tienes planeado involucrar a la comunidad en tu proceso de desarrollo?

“Community involvement has always been at the heart of Amazing Frog?. Over the years, players’ ideas, suggestions, and feedback have directly shaped many parts of the game — and there are even in-game references and easter eggs inspired by our community.

While we aren’t able to respond to every piece of feedback individually, we do read, listen, and reflect on what the community is saying. Player input continues to inform how we develop new features and decide where to take the game next.

This open dialogue will remain a key part of our process, both through version 1.0 and beyond.”
