Why Early Access?

“Survival Games has had almost five years of development time and is fully playable. Being a multiplayer game, balancing and testing needs real gamers to play before we can make a strong launch.

Another way we are using Early Access is to roll out the four different game modes in stages. Each mode will need the feedback of the community to make them fun, and stable.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to leave Early Access in six months

Approximately every two months, we plan to unlock a new game mode. This cadence gives the development team time to make each mode a solid and fun experience. This puts our official launch window around mid 2018.

There is a resonable chance that our release and game mode milestones will take more time, or even less. Active community feedback will heavily influence what we focus on, and when Survival Games is ready to move to the next milestone.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Quality and balancing aside, Survival Games will be four mode title allowing players to enjoy different kinds of Survival from one game. Battle Royale in particular, will have more permutations in the map than it currently does, making gameplay even more varied than it is now.

Our end goal is for Survival Games to be a generous and diverse game with a catalogue of user made content, providing fun for years to come.

But please only pick up Survival Games on the strengths of the flagship game mode, Battle Royale which will be playable from day one of Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Battle Royale is feature complete, but has had limited multiplayer testing. You can hunt each other, collect weapons and explore a map that changes whenever you play. Matchmaking will connect you with dozens of other players during a pre-game phase before you launch out of the Battle Box.
The 2km by 2km area has dynamic points of interest. This is in combination with generated loot and chests, gives you a world that is different whenever you play.

Guns, melee weapons and throwable weapons can all be found and used to lethal advantage against both players and creatures. Several types of armour, hats and player customization is also complete. Expect all these items to be rebalanced with new stats as we learn how the player base uses them.

Zombie Survival, Arena Shooter and Map editor are all locked out until they have their turn for release and then updates to realise their potential.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes.

The lower price of Early Access will be rolled back to full retail as we reach completion. If you’re keen to take part in shaping the game at the early stages, then you’ll also get the maximum discount.

It’s our little way of saying thank you for helping us build something amazing.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Gamers are what makes Early Access to valuable to developers like us. Ideas, complaints and your thoughts guide our development team by showing us what really matters.

Our community has so far helped us with solving deployment issues to specific graphics cards, and provided some early localisation. Streamers and youtubers catch onto the little jokes we hide in the world and items, which gives Survival Games some great humor.

More community means more of this. Better hardware support, improved descriptions, smoother gameplay and our dev team spending their time on the parts of the game that you will notice next time you jump online.
