This War of Mine: Stories - The Last Broadcast | Date Annoucement!

Hello there! We've got some exciting news for you!

We've teamed up with Meg Jayanth, Writer of '80 Days', to deliver a new story to the game. Episode 2: The Last Broadcast - is coming soon!

https://youtu.be/DnI5j8fTFL4

It took more than initially expected but we’re 11 bit studios - we iterate games hundreds of times to make sure what you are served is an utterly thrilling story. That’s the case with the new one.

Everything began after the first episode, Father’s Promise, when 11 bit studios joined forces with exceptionally talented game writer Meg Jayanth, most known for 80 Days (IGF winner for Excellence in Narrative), to create a new story for This War of Mine. Based on a scenario by Meg, we present to you The Last Broadcast, the newest installment to This War of Mine: Stories.

The new episode will launch on November 14, 2018, to mark the 4th anniversary of the original release of the game. Over the course of development, this story grew much larger in scope when compared to Father’s Promise.

Tomasz Kisilewicz, Project Lead, says:

“Surely it took us a while, but the focus was on delivering a deeply emotional story. The leading theme circles around the price of telling the truth.

In this addition, we’re introducing a lot of new content with different endings, new gameplay mechanics, new moral dilemmas about telling the truth that influence the world, new playable civilians, a new shelter people can live in, and new sites of the city of Pogoren to visit. It had to be at least as good as the other stories you can find in This War of Mine. For this reason, after we received the scenario from Meg we iterated on the episode an enormous amount of times afterward. We had to make sure that in the end, the community would have a story they expect from us and we couldn’t let them down. And now that The Last Broadcast is releasing, I’d like to say ‘enjoy The Last Broadcast’, but perhaps the better wording is actually ‘experience The Last Broadcast’.”

This new episode will be priced at $3.99 USD. Due to the significant growth of this DLC, the season pass will change from its price of $4.99 to $6.99 on November 14, 2018. We strongly encourage players to act now if they want to get this great content before the price increase! Everyone who has purchased the season pass to date will receive all of the content without any additional cost.

“This War of Mine is a gripping survival sim, and a great study of survival during wartime and civil collapse.”
8.4 – IGN UK

“This War of Mine shows the horrors of war in a way, that we rarely can experience in a game.”
9 – Giga Games

“Is this a game you want to play? No. Is it a game anyone with a beating heart should play? Yes. A million times yes. It's a longform exercise in empathy, a sobering piece of work that fills in the blanks left when all we see of war are the headshots. It's a much-needed course correct in the current shoot-first-ask-questions-never gaming landscape that supposes war is won because one supreme badguy caught a bullet through his brainstem. No: It's won when the people who lived under his boot get to go home.”

  • The Little Ones - explores the hardships of wartime survival as seen from an entirely new perspective - that of a child.

    This War of Mine: Stories:

  • 1st episode: The Father's Promise - a heartbreaking tale of loss and hope in a war-torn city
  • 2nd episode: The Last Broadcast – where as a radio-operator you are going to face moral dilemmas and decide, whether there is a price too high for the truth
  • Last episode, concluding the season of ‘This War of Mine: Stories’ will follow in the upcoming months. All the episodes are available as separate DLCs as well as a part of Season Pass.

About This Game

In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle.

The pace of This War of Mine is imposed by the day and night cycle. During the day snipers outside stop you from leaving your refuge, so you need to focus on maintaining your hideout: crafting, trading and taking care of your survivors. At night, take one of your civilians on a mission to scavenge through a set of unique locations for items that will help you stay alive.

Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them for longer-term survival. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better.

This War of Mine: Anniversary Edition

It's been two years since This War of Mine global release and we're still expanding the experience. This new free DLC, created especially for the Anniversary Edition, adds new characters, new locations to explore, and most importantly - a whole new ending, leading to a different outcome to the game. The dilemma though remains the same – how far will you go, to protect the ones you care about?

This War of Mine:

  • Inspired by real-life events
  • Control your survivors and manage your shelter
  • Craft weapons, alcohol, beds or stoves – anything that helps you survive
  • Make decisions - an often unforgiving and emotionally difficult experience
  • Randomized world and characters every time you start a new game
  • Charcoal-stylized aesthetics to complement the game's theme

IGN

This War of Mine might be the war game we need.

Gamespot

I was intrigued by This War of Mine's attempts to portray the consequences of war in a way that games have largely ignored in the past. The fact that the psychological and emotional challenges of living under such horrifying conditions are something you have to consider as you struggle gives me added hope that it might treat its hefty and important subject matter with the gravity and complexity that it deserves.

Game Informer

11bit is blazing a new thematic trail amidst the currently popular survival genre, and so far the studio seems to have something special on its hand.
