Miksi Early Access?

The Last Starship is the most ambitious project we have ever attempted and we cannot achieve the full scope of our ambition without the support of a committed and engaged community. From ship design and equipment types to mission development, world-building and story, all aspects of this game will be developed over time and with feedback from the players. We promise that from Alpha 1 you will have a deep and enriching game experience, that will continue to increase month by month as we layer in new systems, content and technology.

Miten kauan peli tulee arviolta olemaan Early Access -vaiheessa?

We anticipate being in early access for several years, however we promise to provide regular, roughly monthly - 6 weekly build updates as the game develops and increases in complexity and scope, based on feedback from the Early Access community. We aim to be responsive to the requests and needs of the player base and will be providing updates for as long as there is an audience to play them!

Millä tavoin lopullinen versio tulee eroamaan Early Access -versiosta?

We do not view development as a short Early Access phase, followed by a V1 launch. Instead, we see a continuous path towards an ever bigger universe with a complex system of systems approach to start-up and fleet design. At some point in the distant future we may label a build version 1.0, however the step up from Early Access will not be large.

Mikä on Early Access -version tila tällä hetkellä?

At present you can design your hull shape and customise the internal layout and equipment package of your starship. Ships can be shared via steamworks and our combat system intelligently picks an enemy fleet with a similar military capability to your own warship. You can also test your design against a limited number of procedurally generated missions that vary in objective and difficulty. The build is constantly changing and improving and to see the current state of the build please visit our you tube channel.

Muuttuuko pelin hinta Early Access -vaiheen jälkeen?

Introversion promises only ever to charge you once, after which all future updates to the game will be free. This is both during Early Access and post Version 1.0. Pricing may vary during steam sales.

To support each update, Mark and Chris will release a YouTube video describing the update and the inspiration behind it. We will be occasionally available for Reddit AMAs and will monitor the discord server / steam forums. We can’t spend a huge amount of time engaging on a 1:1 level, because we have a game to make, but we plan to work in the same way in which we developed Prison Architect - we steer the ship, but you can suggest a course…

Whether you’re deploying drones for space wreck salvage, or using lasers to extract raw materials for a massive mining rig, establishing a seamless operation is crucial. Only then, can you secure the resources needed to thrive in the depths of space.

The Last Starship is the latest creation from acclaimed indie developer, Introversion Software, best known for the BAFTA winning game, Prison Architect. Currently in Early Access, the game is being updated regularly, with new missions, bug fixes, and gameplay enhancements, based on your feedback. Your support helps shape our vision, and once you purchase, we promise never to charge for future updates.

Introversion Software has been developing games since 2001, and stands behind acclaimed titles like Uplink, Darwinia, DEFCON, Multiwinia, and Scanner Sombre. Our most successful game, Prison Architect, launched into early access in 2012, captivated over four million players, and over a 6 year span, received 54 major content updates — averaging one per month.

We are replicating this development approach for The Last Starship during its Early Access phase, with regular, free content updates over the coming years. Drawing inspiration from iconic franchises such as Star Trek, Star Wars, and Battlestar Galactica, as well as games like Factorio and Kerbal Space Program, we believe that blending these concepts into an Introversion game, will lead to something truly extraordinary.
