What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Mech Armada has been in development for years and has already benefited from player feedback immensely.
As a solo developer, I need to collaborate with the community to create the best possible game. Some valuable ideas in the game today have come from player feedback, and I’d like to involve as many people as possible to ensure the game is well balanced, deep and strategic.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I’m planning to keep Mech Armada in Early Access for about a year. But plans can change and it may take longer than that to reach the point where I feel it’s properly finished.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Mech Armada will grow in several ways for the full version. I’m planning to at least add the following:
  • New Mech parts
  • Global upgrades and modifiers that change rules during a run
  • More Swarm monsters
  • New modes, like a Daily Challenge
  • Improvements on gameplay systems, UX and quality of life
  • Lots of balance adjustments
  • Mod support
  • Controller support
  • Steam achievements
I’ll also be looking to the community to help guide how and when new features and content get added.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“In its current state, Mech Armada’s core tactical combat gameplay and roguelite campaign are ready. The game features 70 Mech parts all with different abilities, 5 different biomes and 30 monster types to fight, including 5 bosses.
Even at this stage that’s enough content for many hours of gameplay thanks to the procedural generation aspect of the roguelite campaign, as each run will feel quite different, and permanent upgrades and unlocks will affect future runs.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“It is likely that the price will be increased after the Early Access period.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“You can use the Mech Armada official Discord server, the Steam forums and social media to participate in discussions and provide feedback on anything and everything. There is even a “Feedback” form within the game, and I read each and every entry. The bravest players will also be able to access a beta branch with the very latest builds before they’re released publicly.”

Improvements During Early Access

The world of Mech Armada has seen lots of changes, thanks to your feedback. The battle against the Swarm rages better than ever as full release approaches.

While we knew from the beginning that the game's economy would revolve around energy, with your help it now requires less farming, it's easier to understand and it feels more strategic.
Energy pods have limited supply, you can auto-collect energy at the end of a battle and you don't have an energy cap anymore. Parts no longer increase in energy cost after spawning and instead have limited simultaneous uses.

One of the most requested features during Early Access was to be able to select your starting parts and mech composition. Not only can you do that, you can also define a deck with the parts you want to have available during a run, excluding any you don't like.

Removing any obstacles to enjoying the game has been our mission throughout Early Access. You can now preview the battlefield before combat, edit your Mech Blueprints from anywhere, configure your parts in as many Blueprints as you want and even return any Improvements you've bought (at no cost). The biggest quality of life upgrade is the ability to Transform Mechs at any point by switching parts. Definitely a game changer!

Designed to match the grid interface you see in the battlefield, the Campaign Map offers tremendous choice in terms of which encounters and enemies you want to face, and what rewards you'll collect.
New battle types including survival missions and longer maps help add even more variety and strategy.

Since Early Access we've added 9 new regular monsters and 4 new bosses. Each of them has unique abilities and presents a different challenge.

You now have access to 9 brand new parts, ranging from weapons like the Raygun, that shoots a laser in a long line, to new torsos like the Echo, that lets you use the same weapon twice in one turn.
Besides many other parts have been enhanced and/or redesigned, like all the Special Tile weapons and the Flamethrower.

Throughout the Early Access process we've been listening to your feedback and analyzing data to adjust overall difficulty and make sure that all parts have a purpose and as many strategies are viable as possible. We really couldn't have done this without y'all!

About This Game

The world as we knew it ended when the Swarm came. Hordes of terrifying creatures out of our worst nightmares ravaged the Earth, destroying every living thing in sight.

We few survivors fled underground, desperately searching for the tech and resources to survive - and fight back. To battle the monsters we created an armada of war machines called Mechs.

Thanks to ground-breaking replicator tech these Mechs could be generated almost instantly in the battlefield, turning the tide of what seemed to be an unwinnable war. As we pushed back, we used every resource to power our way forward to destroy the Swarm.

Mech Armada puts you in command of a team of custom-built Mechs. Push your strategic skills to the limit in this fresh combination of turn-based tactics, roguelikes and deckbuilding, as you save what's left of the Earth from the Swarm.

You'll need to plan carefully if you want to overpower the invading Swarm in a series of small tactical battles. Upgrade and build your deck of available Mechs, manage your resources and leverage your territory wisely. Get it wrong and it's game over. Start again with a whole new experience as monsters, maps, resources and rewards are all randomly generated.

Key Features

  • Turn-Based combat: You can move into position and attack with each of your mechs, in any order. Then it's the Swarm's turn...
  • Design your own mech: With 70+ available Mech parts, you can create thousands of unique combinations. Each part has its own strengths and weaknesses, giving you an enormous range of possibilities.
  • Deep strategic combat: There are no perfect solutions. Create your own strategy by cleverly making the most out of your resources and the situation.
  • Procedurally generated: All the gameplay elements (monsters, maps, resources and rewards) are randomly combined and balanced ensuring no two battles are the same.
  • Rogue-like campaign: Death means game over. Try again with an entirely new run, with new random parts and encounters. You'll have to make do with what you get!
  • Environment variety: From the outskirts of destroyed cities, to desert wastelands, the battle for survival rages on.
  • Epic bosses: They're massive, ugly and ridiculously tough. Are you up to the task?
  • Auto-save: Never worry about saving again. Leave your game at any point and return exactly where you left off.
