What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I want to see what players think of Squillamorph to help me make it more enjoyable. The game is quite difficult, so finding a balance between challenge and fun is the main goal of the Early Access Launch.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Squillamorph will be in Early Access until all the planned content is added, and until the players feel that there is a good balance between challenge and fun. I estimate that this will take until the end of 2021 at the earliest.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the final version, there will be a complete story for players to discover, with hidden secrets and lore.
There will be 9 major areas, each with a variety of levels and at least one boss.
The final version will also be more polished and optimised than it is during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“There are currently 2 major areas in the game. Both contain a variety of levels, unique enemies, and a boss. Neither region is finished but they give a good representation of what they will be.
The story is not evident in the game yet but there are a few aspects of lore.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of the game may be increased once a substantial amount of new content has been added. It currently represents a balance between the amount of time I have put into developing the game and the amount of existing content.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I look to the community for feedback, suggestions, and help with hunting bugs. I welcome all feedback, which players can give via Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, or the Steam Community forum. They can also get more directly involved in conversation with myself and other players on Discord. My progress on the game can be followed on the Development Blog.”

About This Game

Squillamorph is a challenging action game with a 2D pixel art style. Pursued by brutal enemies, you must use your parasitic Infest ability to take control of them. Infest, fight, and survive through a strange mechanical world.

Possess the Enemies

Enemies will do everything they can to destroy you. Brought to life using a mix of procedural and traditional animation, fights against them are varied and dynamic. Use your Infest ability to possess them and fight back. Infesting an enemy will give you total control of it. Whatever it can do, you can do. Progress through the hostile world and face all manner of creatures, which you can use in your battle for survival.

Face Monstrous Bosses

Creatures in the world are unrelenting in their pursuit of you. Make it far enough and you will be faced with the most dangerous of enemies. Defeating them will not be easy but will reward you with powerful upgrades. Can you defeat them?

Explore a Mysterious World

You have been thrown into a strange world and are presented with many questions. Why were you created? Why does everything want to destroy you? What are you? If you can survive through the tough world you are thrown into, you might find the answers.
