What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The key feature of the game is the story of its protagonist and the world around him, their unpredictable future as well as the unexpected past. Therefore we have decided to split the release into separate chapters, which will allow us to receive feedback and suggestions from the audience. This is important because we consider the ‘malleability’ of the fate of both the world and the main hero to be the design feature of our project. Consequently, we are planning to maintain a certain creative interaction with the community throughout the game’s gradual release, the result of which will be the in-game world’s reactivity to the players’ feedback. Presenting the Early Access in such a way — as “a game within a game” — will help us guide the project towards a finale both satisfying and unexpected, instead of ruining the ending with our money-grabbing instincts.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It will take approximately six months to make the game fully accessible for all types of intelligent entities, robots and algorithms. In any case, time and money are not the most important things in our lives. Please calm your titanium composite body parts, no additional stress testing is required at this point.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“As noted above, the “malleability” of the fate of the world and the main hero both in their past and in their future are the design feature of our project. Therefore, in the full version the players will access a cohesive, self-contained story created with the community’s input via the interaction with the developers throughout the release period. In our opinion, this approach will introduce a certain unpredictability to the game’s plot as well as provide unique emotions to the players by involving them in the writing process. Consequently, the full version will offer a new context to the story that is dependent on the setting’s features, introduce new locations, new abilities and characteristic traits of the protagonist, including the evolution of his strange sense of humour. In addition, all this will partially reflect the players’ conceptions of a perfect hero in imperfect conditions.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently we have completed the first step of the protagonist’s genesis, coherent and structurally sound. The first chapter contains a number of conceptual questions and basically represents an invitation for the audience to participate in the story’s development. The community’s best-executed ideas may influence the story’s context, course and conclusion as we envisioned them. A more detailed description of the game in its current state is available in “About this game”.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“It is a matter of luck and the amount of ammo you’ll save for the ending... In other words, certain conceptual reasons might make the developers ignore the global financial crisis and leave the price unchanged for the sake of pure art.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to attract beautiful ladies by partnering with spa salons and issuing certificates for free nanoimplant maintenance. Cyber knights in shining armor are going to automatically follow their cyber-paramours. This noble community will then be able to send us passionate binary reviews via Steam, Twitter and Youtube access points.”

About This Game

Robo Inc Project is a cyberpunk adventure quest for truth set in a cold Sci-Fi future. Improvised weapons and a sense of humor will help you survive in a world of aggressive tin cans, solve interstellar intrigues... and, perhaps, learn something about the real you in the meantime.

IN SPACE, ONLY THE FITTEST SURVIVE

Who said that a hybrid of man and sofa cannot be the pinnacle of human evolution? Character development in our game does not lead to a dead end. Stealth generators, kinetic repulsors and lots of other yummy Sci-Fi gadgets will come in handy. Your armored opponents can’t wait to try their new toys on you as well! And only the best sets of implants will allow you to climb to the top of the cybernetic food chain.

MAKE A CHOICE BETWEEN SWAG AND SURVIVAL INSTINCT

Truly hilarious natural selection is not limited to stealth attacks and luring the enemy to a minefield. It is not always obvious which one of your so-called allies is trying to support you and whose goal is to confuse and abuse. That is why the ability to read between the lines of numbers in the logs of crazy robots becomes essential for your survival. You will have to make a complicated choice between sarcasm, voice of reason and... whatever robots have instead of consciousness to get through the conversations with suspicious individuals safely.

SOUNDTRACK

If any fascinating hallucinations cross your mind while playing this game, do not worry. That is totally normal. Hallucinations are obvious effects of the soundtrack that was composed especially for you. It creates three-dimensional acoustic images and reflects on neo-noir, retrowave and cyberpunk by compiling multiple electronic genres.

THE PERENNIAL ISSUES

This game will greet you with the irony and Hollywood-like performance of NPCs, but there is so much more about it that you might want to start writing down the revelations and insights packed in the seemingly simple story. You will try to answer the key philosophical questions and interpret a peaceful humanistic appeal to every common Earth dweller:
  • What makes you real?
  • Is the desire to find a soul equal to the soul itself?
  • If you are one of those who still keep breathing out of habit only, then why do you care?
... The search for answers brought you here. Now you are alone, and there is nothing to fight the whole world with except for something that is still functioning inside your chest. There is still something to lose, so make your first step into the world of cyberpunk as if it was a tale of chivalry.
So find your sword, your shining armor and an evil dragon in this future. Bring it justice. Bring it pain. Bring it death.
