What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The core elements of Stay in the Light are as follows: A game that requires real-time ray tracing to work and look right, randomly generated dungeons and an immersive, first person horror experience. These are the most important elements that won't change.

Stay in the Light tests the boundaries of what can be done with real-time ray traced graphics and how that affects gameplay. This is a chance to gather feedback and input before the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Early Access will continue until the game has enough levels, gameplay elements and story to make it a worthy release. You can expect the final release for the game roughly in 6-8 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The idea is to have a game a bit bigger in scope than where it's starting. More levels, more types of puzzles to solve and more items to find. Other options and ideas will be explored, but in general more scope and polish is the goal.

Some of the ideas on the table include Co-op and a very deep dungeon to explore, maybe 100 levels or more. None of this is set in stone however, and is subject to revision. There are lots of potential ideas to explore and develop, as long as it stays to the guidelines posted above.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game will have 6 dungeon levels and basic gameplay with the first release, but this should develop rapidly.

It includes the ability for you to generate your own levels with a button press. This is a first implementation that will get more powerful over time.

There are two big technology goals for the initial release: Take advantage of real-time ray tracing in a completely new way, and randomly generate dungeon levels the player can explore.

The initial release achieves these goals and others, and future releases plan on building on this foundation.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game is set at its currently expected final release price, although this could change depending on where it develops.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Stay in the Light needs your ideas! If there's something you want to see included, post about it in the forums here.”

About This Game

Stay in the Light is an immersive first person horror game with a combination of unique features: Real-time Ray Tracing and Random Dungeon generator.

Stay in the Light requires a GTX card capable of Ray Tracing. Using the latest version of Unreal 4 it makes use of ray traced reflections and shadows for gameplay that could only be done with this new technology.

You are being hunted by Him, a creature lurking in a mysterious dungeon. With only a few items, a mirror, a torch and some chalk, you must survive this hellish place. There are treasures to be found, puzzles to solve and clues to uncover.

In Stay in the Light, the mirror reflects things behind you with pixel perfect accuracy. Light and shadows are key elements of gameplay. This game uses cutting edge rendering techniques to create completely new gameplay experiences as well as showing off the hardware capability of Ray Tracing graphics.

Levels are generated randomly for maximum replayability. The game includes the ability for you to generate your own random level and see the generation process in action, and then pick the level you want to play.

The latest Nvidia drivers and Windows 10 must be installed in order to play Stay in the Light correctly. It requires a 1060 GTX card or higher.
