This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") is a legal agreement between you ("User") and **CodeRoad** ("Developer") for **ComfyTrans: Realtime Screen Translator**, including all executables, models, and accompanying materials (the "Software"), distributed through Steam.
By installing, copying, or using the Software, you agree to this Agreement. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software. This Agreement **supplements** the Steam Subscriber Agreement; if there is a conflict, the Steam Subscriber Agreement and any mandatory consumer‑protection rights available to you prevail.
### 1. Restrictions
Your license to install and use the Software is governed by the Steam Subscriber Agreement. Except as permitted by this Agreement, by Steam, or by mandatory law, you may not remove proprietary notices, or reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the proprietary portions of the Software (the open‑source exception is in Section 5).
### 2. Lawful Use and User Responsibility
You are **solely responsible** for ensuring that:
- (a) you hold, or are otherwise entitled to, the rights (including copyright and any necessary permissions) required to capture, process, and translate the on‑screen content you choose to process with the Software; and
- (b) your use of the Software complies with the terms of service, agreements, or rules of any third‑party game, application, website, or service whose content you translate.
You are responsible for any consequences of violating such third‑party terms, including any suspension or restriction of your third‑party accounts. The Developer does not monitor, and is not responsible for, the content you choose to process or the manner in which you use the Software.
### 3. Local Processing — No Data Collection
The Software performs text recognition (OCR) and translation **entirely locally, on your own device**, using models bundled with, or downloaded to, your machine.
- The Software does **not** transmit your screen captures, recognized text, or translations to the Developer or to any server operated by the Developer.
- The Developer does **not** collect personal data, telemetry, or usage analytics through the Software.
If a future version offers an **optional** third‑party online translation service and you choose to enable it, the text you select will be sent to that provider and handled under that provider's own terms; such use is at your discretion.
### 4. Intellectual Property
Except for the open‑source components in Section 5, the Software and all intellectual property rights in it — including its code, user interface, visual assets, and the "ComfyTrans" and "CodeRoad" names and logos — are and remain the exclusive property of the Developer. No rights are granted except the limited license in this Agreement.
### 5. Open‑Source Components
The Software includes third‑party open‑source software, including the **Qt** libraries licensed under the **GNU Lesser General Public License, version 3 (LGPLv3)** and dynamically linked to the Software. To the extent required by the LGPLv3, and notwithstanding Section 1, you may reverse engineer and modify the Software **solely** to debug your own modifications to those dynamically‑linked libraries, and replace them with modified versions for your own use. The corresponding license texts and notices are provided in the accompanying `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt`, `LICENSE.LGPLv3`, and `LICENSE.GPLv3` files. Reverse engineering the proprietary portions for any other purpose remains prohibited.
### 6. Disclaimer of Warranty and Limitation of Liability
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED **"AS IS"** AND **"AS AVAILABLE"**, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR ACCURACY OF TRANSLATION OR RECOGNITION.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, loss of data, or loss of profits arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Software. Nothing in this Agreement excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, or affects your mandatory statutory rights as a consumer.
