EtelGarde End User License Agreement

Introduction
This agreement is between you and Elrolin, the developer and publisher of EtelGarde. It applies to the Windows desktop game, its updates, and its associated authentication and content services.
Read this agreement before using the game. By clicking Accept, you agree to these terms. If you disagree, close the game. You may request a refund under Steam's refund rules.
1. License
1.1 Elrolin grants you a personal, non-exclusive, limited license to install and run the game on Windows devices under your control for personal, non-commercial entertainment. This license may be suspended or terminated under Section 6. You may not transfer or sublicense it except through license sharing expressly permitted by Steam.
1.2 This license grants permission to use the game and does not transfer ownership. Elrolin reserves all rights not expressly granted in this agreement.
1.3 Purchases and use through Steam are also subject to the Steam Subscriber Agreement. Refunds of the game purchase price are governed by Steam's refund rules.
2. Requirements for Use
2.1 The game includes no language model or API credits. You must choose a third-party AI service, obtain an API key, pay its usage charges, and comply with its terms and applicable law. You pay the provider directly, separately from the price of the game. Elrolin does not collect or pay those charges; refunds for them are governed by the provider's rules.
2.2 The main narrative model currently supports Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek, GLM 5.2 and later, and Kimi K3 and later. The world-event model does not support Claude or Kimi. Elrolin may change model support through updates and will describe changes in the release notes.
2.3 Connect through the model provider's official API or a relay you operate yourself. Resold APIs and shared or free third-party relay services are unsupported. You bear the risk of charges, account restrictions, or data exposure resulting from their use; Elrolin does not provide support for those services.
2.4 Playing requires a Steam account with a valid license for the game and verification of your identity and license through Steam. Installation, updates, and online authentication require an available internet connection. You pay your own network charges.
2.5 Your API key is stored only in your device's system credential manager and is not sent to any server controlled by Elrolin. You are responsible for keeping it secure.
2.6 The game is a one-time purchase with no in-game purchases or virtual currency. Elrolin charges no additional fees beyond the game price. You remain responsible for your third-party costs.
3. AI-Generated Content
3.1 The game has no prewritten script. A third-party model generates narrative text from your input during play. Elrolin does not write or review each output in advance or guarantee its accuracy, continuity, or suitability. Generated content does not represent Elrolin's views.
3.2 You are responsible for your inputs and your use of generated content. They must be lawful and respect other people's rights. You must not deliberately induce the model to generate illegal content.
3.3 The game includes input filtering and constraints on sexual content and violent tendencies. These measures do not guarantee any particular output. Evading or defeating them is prohibited under Section 5.
3.4 You may keep narrative text from your play for personal use. You may share gameplay through screenshots, videos, or livestreams, including earning platform advertising or incentive revenue. You may not offer game content exclusively behind a paywall, sell narrative text separately, or extract the game's art, music, code, or other assets for any other use.
4. Saves and the Fate Mechanic
4.1 Saves are stored only on your device. Elrolin provides no cloud saves or save export or import function. Device failure, reinstalling your operating system, or deleting game data may make saves unrecoverable.
4.2 When a companion dies or breaks ties with the player, all saves other than the current save are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
4.3 When the player character dies, all saves are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
4.4 These two rules are the fate mechanic. When it is triggered, the game offers up to three regeneration attempts. Once those attempts are exhausted, the event cannot be reversed.
4.5 Before accepting this agreement, confirm that you accept these save-deletion rules. Elrolin is not liable for damages or compensation for save deletion caused by the fate mechanic operating as described in this section.
5. Prohibited Conduct
Except where applicable law expressly permits an act and does not allow that permission to be excluded by contract, you must not:
1. Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, unpack, or inject debugging code into the game; extract or decrypt its encrypted resources; or otherwise attempt to obtain its source code or keys.
2. Evade, damage, or attack the game's authentication, content delivery, signature verification, or other technical protections, or attack or intrude into associated servers.
3. Use prompt injection or other methods to evade input filtering, content constraints, or anti-cheat rules, or distribute or encourage such methods.
4. Modify the game through unauthorized plugins, scripts, cheats, injection, or altered or forged runtime data, or make or distribute tools or methods for those purposes.
5. Make unauthorized copies of, resell, rent, lend, publicly distribute, mirror, or bundle the game's programs or assets. License sharing permitted by Steam and gameplay sharing permitted by Section 3 are allowed.
6. Alter or conceal credits, copyright notices, or other rights notices in the game.
7. Use the game to make or distribute illegal content or use its generation system for purposes outside the game.
6. Enforcement and Termination
6.1 If you violate Section 5 or use the game for illegal activity, Elrolin may issue a warning, suspend access, or permanently end your access to this game based on the facts and severity. Serious violations may result in an immediate ban. Refunds remain subject to Section 1.
6.2 A banned account or an invalid Steam license cannot obtain further game authorization. If you use a shared license and its holder is banned from this game, that license cannot authorize the borrower either. A borrower who is not personally banned and has a separate valid license can still be verified. The game does not automatically ban a lender because a borrower is banned. These measures concern access to this game only.
6.3 You may appeal through the contact channel in Section 12. Elrolin will review the decision within a reasonable period.
6.4 Permanent availability of online authentication is not promised. Elrolin may change or end the service with reasonable advance notice. Urgent security action may require an immediate suspension.
6.5 This agreement ends when you delete all copies of the game or your access is terminated. Sections 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, and 10 survive termination.
7. Intellectual Property
The game's code, art, music, sound effects, world setting, and written material belong to Elrolin to the extent protected by law. Buying the game does not grant rights to extract assets, build asset libraries, redistribute them, or use them commercially beyond the gameplay sharing permitted by Section 3. Third-party components remain subject to their own licenses. A game license does not relieve you of legal liability for infringement.
8. Privacy and Data
8.1 Elrolin processes only Steam identifiers, authentication tickets and license status, violation and rate-limit records, content leases and integrity records, and request metadata such as IP addresses and client environment identifiers needed for authentication, content delivery, and security. These data are used only for those purposes. Elrolin does not collect your API keys, conversations, or save contents.
8.2 Communications with your third-party AI service, including your input and generated content, travel directly between your device and that service. They do not pass through Elrolin's servers. Elrolin does not relay, record, or store your conversations. The provider's privacy policy governs its processing of those data.
8.3 Runtime and crash logs stay on your device, with sensitive data such as keys and tokens redacted. Elrolin does not automatically collect them.
8.4 Steam and Cloudflare, which hosts authentication, process data needed for authentication and security. Apart from that necessary service processing, legal requirements, or what is necessary to protect lawful rights, Elrolin does not disclose these records to third parties or sell them.
8.5 You may request access to or deletion of server records associated with your Steam identifier through the contact channel in Section 12. Elrolin will handle requests under applicable law. Records needed for authentication security, ban enforcement, or legal obligations may be retained for as long as necessary.
9. Disclaimer
The game is provided as is, without a promise that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your particular expectations. Elrolin is not liable for damages or compensation arising from:
1. Content generated by third-party models or your use of it, including errors, narrative deviations, or outputs that do not meet your expectations.
2. Third-party AI service outages, failures, rate limits, account restrictions, price changes, or policy changes.
3. Failures, service changes, or account actions by Steam, network providers, or other third-party platforms.
4. Save loss due to device failure, user error, operating system reinstallation, uninstallation, or a change of device, or deletion caused by the fate mechanic operating as described in Section 4.
5. Losses caused by unsupported APIs, failure to secure your keys, or breach of third-party service terms.
6. Service interruptions, delays, or data damage caused by events beyond reasonable control or other causes not attributable to Elrolin.
10. Limits of Liability
Elrolin is not liable for indirect losses, lost profits, or lost opportunities. Total damages payable by Elrolin in connection with this agreement or the game are limited to the price you actually paid for the game.
11. Changes to This Agreement
Elrolin may update this agreement when features, services, or legal requirements change. Substantive changes will carry an updated document date and require you to accept the agreement again. If you disagree, you may stop using the game and refer to Section 1. An ordinary game update alone does not require renewed consent.
12. Other Terms
12.1 The game includes fantasy themes of death and separation, with AI-generated narrative that cannot be fully predicted. It is recommended for players aged 16 and over. Minors should use the game and third-party AI services with their guardian's consent and guidance.
12.2 If a term is held invalid, the remaining terms remain in effect.
12.3 The parties should first try to resolve a dispute through discussion. The Chinese and English texts have the same intended meaning. If they differ, the Chinese text prevails to the extent permitted by applicable law.
12.4 For contact and appeals, use the developer contact information listed under Support on the game's Steam store page. Notices are published in the game or through Steam store announcements.
