Chobots Terms and Conditions
Last updated: August 10, 2026Acceptance
By using Chobots.net, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site, game, account tools, profiles, gallery, wiki, shop, bug reporting, or related services.Chobots.net is a fan-led restoration and preservation project. It is not an official Vayersoft service, and features may change while the project is tested and rebuilt.
Alpha Testing and the Reset at Launch
Chobots.net is not launched yet. What is running now is an alpha: a test of a game being rebuilt, played by testers who are helping us find what is broken. Please read this section before you spend time here, because it is the one that costs you something. When Chobots.net launches publicly, accounts will be reset and everyone starts the real game together on level ground. Progress made during the alpha does not carry over.
- You keep: your Chobot name, the date you joined the project, and your public profile, including the comments people have left on it. Testing early is how you get an early name and an early join date, and we are not taking those away.
- Everything is cleared: level and experience, wardrobe and inventory, Bugs and the bank ledger behind them, decorated homes and rooms, market and auction activity, and other progress you have earned or collected.
- The exact list of what survives will be confirmed and announced before the reset happens. If anything moves between the two lists above, we will say so in advance rather than after.
- This is why Chobots.net does not intend to take any money before public launch. Nobody should pay for progress that is scheduled to be cleared.
Accounts and Security
- Use accurate account information and keep your password, session, and two-factor recovery codes private.
- Do not sell, transfer, share, steal, impersonate, or attempt to access another player's account.
- Invites, codes, and rewards are issued to an account and are not to be sold or traded for anything outside the game.
- The team may lock, disable, recover, or require additional verification for accounts when needed for safety, security, moderation, or support.
- Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising minors who use the service and for using the available child-safety tools when appropriate.
Community Rules
- Be kind. Do not harass, threaten, bully, dox, exploit, groom, sexualize minors, post hate content, or target people based on protected traits.
- Do not spam, scam, phish, evade bans, impersonate staff, advertise malicious links, or disrupt events and contests.
- Do not use cheats, automation, unauthorized clients, packet tools, exploits, item duplication, economy abuse, or security bypasses.
- Do not upload or submit illegal content, malware, private information, copyrighted material you do not have permission to use, or content that is unsafe for the community.
Player-Made Content
Several parts of Chobots.net let you make things other players will see: gallery artwork, graffiti and art walls, decorated homes and rooms, profile and guestbook comments, wiki contributions, blog comments, survey answers, market listings, and bug reports.Everything you post must follow the Community Rules above. This is a game for kids, so the standard is stricter than "not illegal": content that is sexual, cruel, frightening, hateful, or aimed at getting around the chat filter will be removed even where it would be allowed elsewhere.
Staff may review, hide, remove, revert, or refuse player-made content, and may keep a hidden copy as evidence. Wiki contributions can be reverted and are kept with their edit history so changes can be traced. Deleting your account does not automatically delete every trace of content you posted in shared spaces.
Moderation
Staff may review reports, chat logs, profile and gallery content, wiki edits, bug reports, account records, purchase records, IP bans, and other safety signals. Staff may remove content, hide profiles, delete comments, revoke items, adjust currency, cancel listings, pause accounts, ban accounts, block IPs, or take other action needed to protect the game and community.Moderation decisions may be made to protect players, preserve service stability, stop abuse, comply with law, or enforce these Terms. The team may choose whether and how to provide an appeal path.
Bugs, Items, and the Player Economy
Bugs are the in-game currency. Every earn and spend is written to a ledger you can read in the Bugs Bank, so your balance can be explained. The ledger is a record of what happened, not a promise of what a balance is worth.Players can trade, gift, and sell items to each other through the market, including timed auctions with bids. A bid is an offer to spend Bugs and may be binding within the game's own rules. Items received by gift or trade may carry a lock that limits passing them on again.
- Virtual Bugs, credits, Citizenship, badges, items, cosmetics, cards, pets, bodies, bubbles, contest rewards, and trial grants have no cash value and are not redeemable for money.
- Do not buy, sell, or trade accounts, items, Bugs, or codes for real money or for anything outside Chobots.net. Real-money trading is not supported, is not protected if you are scammed, and may cost you the account.
- Items, currency, and rewards may be changed, removed, corrected, revoked, or rebalanced if they were granted by mistake, abuse, cheating, duplication, staff error, economy issues, or restoration changes.
- Free early tester, early user, contest, event, and trial rewards are provided as-is and are not refundable or exchangeable.
Chance-Based Features
Some features hand out a random reward - the daily spin, the vault, and similar events. These are played with in-game currency or free daily plays, they hand out only virtual rewards, and nothing in them can be bought with real money or cashed out for it. They are game features, not gambling.Odds, prize pools, charge-up targets, and event rules are set by staff and may be changed or paused at any time.
Rewards, Contests, Surveys, and Codes
Citizenship, Bugs, items, and other rewards may be granted through trials, launch grants, early tester and early user rewards, contests, events, in-game competitions, invites, surveys, and one-use codes.Surveys pay out for taking part in good faith. Answers given at random, duplicate submissions, and attempts to farm rewards may earn nothing and may cost you the reward entirely. Redeem codes are single-use, tied to an account, and may expire; sharing or selling them does not create a right to the reward.
Citizenship and Purchases
Citizenship is the optional membership. During the alpha it is granted for free, as described above. Chobots.net does not intend to sell anything until the project launches publicly, for the reason given in the reset section: an alpha account is going to be cleared, and charging for something about to be wiped would not be honest. The shop and checkout are built and tested, and sales are a staff setting that is off by default. If sales are ever opened, the terms below govern them. Chobots.net's goal is sustainability, not personal profit - paid features exist to help cover project costs rather than to pay the team personally. Prices, term length, bonuses, and what is included are shown on the page that sells the thing at the time you buy it, and those shown terms govern that purchase.
- Citizenship is a one-time purchase for a fixed term. It is not a subscription, does not auto-renew, and there is nothing to cancel.
- Buying Citizenship while yours is still running adds the time on top of what is left rather than replacing it.
- Purchases in the shop are paid from your account credit. Account credit is a prepaid balance for use on Chobots.net only; it has no cash value, cannot be withdrawn, cannot be transferred between accounts, and is not a bank deposit.
- Bonus credit, first-purchase bonuses, and bonus Bugs are promotional grants, not money, and may be removed if the purchase behind them is reversed.
Payments, Refunds, and Chargebacks
In the Steam version of Chobots, purchases are handled by Steam. Payment is taken from your Steam Wallet through Steam's microtransaction system. Chobots.net does not receive or store your payment details, and the Steam version has no card checkout of its own. The price shown in the Steam confirmation window when you confirm is the price that governs that purchase, and the purchase is also subject to the Steam Subscriber Agreement and Valve's refund policy. What you buy is delivered to your Chobots account, which is separate from your Steam account. A Steam account may be linked to one Chobots account, and may not later be unlinked and re-linked to a different one. However a purchase was paid for, what it grants - Bugs, account credit, Citizenship, cosmetics and other items - remains a virtual good with no cash value, as described above.
Citizenship and virtual items are delivered to the account immediately, so they are generally final once applied, except where a refund is required by law, where Valve's refund policy applies, or where the team decides a correction is appropriate. If something went wrong, contact the team and a moderator can put it right by hand.
If a purchase is refunded, reversed, or disputed - through Steam, through a payment provider, or by chargeback - the credit, Citizenship, bonuses, or items granted by that payment may be removed, and the account may be restricted while the issue is reviewed. Disputing a payment instead of contacting us usually ends with the account losing more than the refund is worth.
Fan Project, Archive, and Content
Chobots.net exists to restore and preserve a community experience. Names, marks, original assets, and historical materials may belong to their respective owners. Nothing in these Terms gives you ownership of Chobots.net code, assets, accounts, virtual items, account credit, or project materials. The blog archive and parts of the wiki reproduce historical Chobots material recovered from public web archives, presented for preservation and credited to the archives it came from. If you hold rights in material shown there and want it removed, contact the team and it will be taken down.
If you submit bug reports, artwork, wiki contributions, comments, contest entries, feedback, screenshots, or other content, you keep what rights you have in it and give the project permission to use, store, display, modify, and share that content as needed to operate, moderate, improve, and promote the project.
Availability and Changes
The project is still being restored. Features may break, data may be corrected, rooms may go offline, accounts may need migration, sales may be paused, and services may be paused for security, maintenance, testing, or cost reasons. The project is provided as-is and as-available. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Chobots.net is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, lost data, lost virtual items, lost Bugs or account credit, downtime, or lost access.
Changes to These Terms
The team may update these Terms as the project changes, especially around payments, the player economy, player-made content, and Citizenship pricing. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated Terms.Privacy Policy - Delete your account - http://mailto:support@chobots.net
