End User License Agreement and Terms of Use

This End User License Agreement and Terms of Use, called this Agreement, governs the Steam release of Aira / Meeting the World, called the Product. By installing, launching, or using the Product, the User accepts this Agreement. A User who does not accept this Agreement must not install or use the Product.
This English text is the sole operative version of this Agreement. Any translation is provided only for convenience and has no independent legal effect. Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. The Steam Subscriber Agreement, Steam Privacy Policy, applicable Steam Workshop terms, and Steam rules also apply when the Product is used through Steam. Mandatory law and applicable Steam terms prevail if they conflict with this Agreement.
Section 1 - Limited license
Subject to this Agreement and applicable law, wmdm grants the User a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, limited license to install and use the Product for personal entertainment, communication, and learning.
Except where applicable law or a third-party license expressly permits otherwise, the User must not sell, rent, sublicense, publicly distribute, or remove copyright, license, or rights notices from the Product executable files or protected resources. This Agreement does not restrict any decompilation, debugging, interoperability, replacement, or other right that applicable law or a third-party license expressly grants to the User.
Section 2 - Current Steam release boundaries
The current Steam release runs bundled local models for chat and motion direction on the User device. It does not allow a User to enter, configure, or call a third-party AI API key. Chat, translation, preset motion selection, and optional local text-to-speech may generate text, speech, or motion-selection results at runtime.
The current Steam release uses one fixed built-in Live2D avatar. It does not offer local Live2D model import, Steam Workshop Live2D model upload or download, receipt of a new Live2D model through online play, or Steam Workshop sharing of executable files, scripts, model weights, or voice models.
Network, online play, Workshop, speech, or local-model functions may be unavailable, restricted, or suspended because of device capabilities, Steam services, network conditions, regional availability, local law, or regulatory requirements. wmdm may reasonably limit, modify, or suspend a function or regional availability where necessary for law, Steam requirements, or safety. This does not affect non-waivable consumer rights.
Future updates may change the Product scope. If a future release adds a new network, model, import, or external-service function, wmdm may update this Agreement, the Privacy Policy, and Steam disclosures as appropriate.
Section 3 - AI-generated output and safety limits
Chat, translation, speech, and motion selection may be generated or assisted by a local artificial intelligence system. The User is interacting with an AI system, not a natural person, medical professional, lawyer, financial adviser, emergency service, or other professional. Product notices may identify an AI interaction or generated output. Such notices do not guarantee that output is accurate, lawful, suitable, safe, complete, or harmless.
AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, unsuitable, or unrelated to the views of wmdm. The User must exercise independent judgment and must not rely on output as the sole basis for medical, legal, financial, emergency, or other high-risk decisions.
The Product applies limited local deterministic checks to streamed AI replies and Steam Workshop publication fields. A reply may be withdrawn and speech stopped, or publication may be refused, when a small number of high-confidence explicit-risk patterns are matched. These checks are not a complete semantic, contextual, factual, copyright, age, regional-law, or safety review. They cannot identify or prevent all inappropriate, infringing, unlawful, or harmful content.
The User must not use the Product to generate, distribute, assist, or encourage unlawful conduct, fraud, malware, credential theft, privacy invasion, exploitation of minors, violent-extremist recruitment, or other content prohibited by applicable law, Steam rules, or bundled model terms.
Where applicable law requires additional AI disclosures, labels, age protections, records, or restrictions, wmdm may adjust the Product and related notices as reasonably necessary. The User must not remove, bypass, or misleadingly conceal an AI-related notice supplied by the Product.
Section 4 - Mainland China product positioning and allocation of responsibility
For users in the People's Republic of China, the current Steam release is provided within the local general-purpose assistant scope described in section 2: knowledge questions and answers, translation, learning, writing, and stylistic expression. It does not preinstall, recommend, or market virtual-companion, virtual-relative, romance-dependency, emotional-manipulation, or continuing emotional-companionship functions. It does not include cross-conversation long-term cognition, emotion AI, proactive behavior, or autonomous agent roles. The fixed Live2D avatar is a visual presentation layer only and does not change this functional scope.
On the basis of its current functions, the Product is designed as a general-purpose AI assistant and not for the purpose of providing continuing emotional interaction that simulates the personality traits, thinking patterns, and communication style of a natural person. This statement describes the current Product scope and does not replace a determination by a competent authority. If functions, legal requirements, regulatory guidance, or Steam requirements change, wmdm may restrict, modify, or suspend relevant functions and update this Agreement and related disclosures.
To the extent required by applicable law, wmdm is responsible for Product-level function boundaries, fixed-resource restrictions, limited explicit-risk checks, reporting and manual handling of public Workshop content, data and security measures, and other duties imposed on wmdm by law. The User is responsible for the User's inputs, creations, publications, distribution, and use, including obtaining necessary rights, accurately selecting Workshop age suitability, complying with applicable law and Steam rules, and not bypassing Product safety or resource restrictions.
User responsibility does not exclude statutory responsibilities of wmdm. Product-level safety measures do not give wmdm ownership of, approval of, or a guarantee regarding the rights, accuracy, legality, or safety of User content. The applicable law, Steam terms, and valid provisions of this Agreement determine the final allocation of responsibility.
Section 5 - Gemma component conditions
The bundled local model components include components subject to Gemma terms. As an express condition of using those components, the User must not use or allow another person to use them for a purpose prohibited by the Google Gemma Prohibited Use Policy or by applicable law.
The Gemma license text, Gemma-NOTICE.txt, and related notices included in the licenses directory form part of this Agreement. For Gemma components, applicable model terms and use restrictions prevail over a conflicting statement in this Agreement. Google does not endorse, sponsor, operate, or accept responsibility for the Product.
Section 6 - Style prompt cards and Steam Workshop
The User may create local style prompt cards. A style prompt card may influence how Aira expresses itself but does not change Product program code. Steam Workshop publication is limited to style prompt cards and an optional card cover image. Before publication, the User must confirm that the User has all necessary rights and permissions for submitted material.
The Product does not preinstall, recommend, or market virtual-companion, virtual-relative, romance-dependency, emotional-manipulation, or continuing emotional-companionship functions. User-created style prompt cards are user-generated content. Their topic, opinion, narrative setting, or style does not represent endorsement, sponsorship, or a promise by wmdm. The User must exercise judgment and comply with applicable law, Steam rules, and this Agreement.
The User must not upload, publish, or share content that infringes copyright, trademark, publicity, voice, privacy, or other rights; contains executable programs, scripts, malicious code, credentials, private keys, passwords, API keys, or other security-sensitive data; contains sexual content involving minors, explicit malware or credential theft, or violent-extremist recruitment; or otherwise violates applicable law or Steam rules.
The publisher must select either all-ages or adult suitability. An item marked adult requires the downloader to self-confirm that the downloader meets the applicable age before download or import. The Product may refuse an item selected as unsuitable for minors. A self-confirmation is not statutory age verification and does not replace parental responsibility or Steam rules.
Automated checks, age labels, manual review, and Steam reporting are limited safeguards. They do not pre-approve a work and do not guarantee that all unlawful, infringing, inappropriate, or harmful content will be found or prevented. Steam reporting, blocking, takedown, subscription, deletion, and related rules continue to apply. wmdm may review public items reported through Steam, reported by users, or found through routine public review. Where an item appears to violate applicable law, Steam rules, or this Agreement, wmdm may limit distribution, remove the item, or apply an appropriate publisher restriction, including before final review where reasonably necessary to address a credible safety, minor-protection, security, or infringement risk.
Section 7 - Online play and Steam services
Steam online play, random matching, Workshop, downloads, ratings, and other network functions depend on Steam, network conditions, regional availability, and Valve services. To provide online communication, messages voluntarily sent by a player and necessary session and matching data may be transmitted through Steam to the other session participant. wmdm does not guarantee that network functions will be continuously available, timely, error-free, or available in every region.
Online play and Workshop do not transmit a new Live2D model, voice model, executable file, or script to another player. Problems should first be reported or managed using available Steam reporting and blocking tools.
Section 8 - Live2D and third-party materials
The Product uses Live2D Cubism technology. Live2D, Cubism, and related names and marks belong to Live2D Inc. If the Product includes or uses Hiyori Momose or other Live2D sample data, that sample data remains owned by Live2D Inc. or the relevant rights holder and is subject to applicable Live2D sample-material and model terms.
This content uses sample data owned and copyrighted by Live2D Inc.
wmdm independently produces the Product. Live2D Inc., Google, Valve, and other third-party rights holders do not operate the Product and do not accept responsibility for Product content, functionality, or User content.
Section 9 - Data, privacy, and deletion
The Privacy Policy describes Product data handling. The local chat function does not automatically send chat content to a third-party AI API. When Steam network functions are used, Steam and the other session participant may process necessary data for the relevant function.
The User may use the Product's clear-history or factory-reset function to delete Aira-managed local data. These actions do not delete original files outside Aira-managed directories and do not delete data processed by Steam.
When a User uses Steam sign-in, online play, Workshop, reporting, ratings, or the support email, relevant data may be processed by Steam, the other session participant, or wmdm and may involve international transfers. The Privacy Policy and Steam policies describe the relevant processing, retention, and recipients.
To the extent applicable data-protection law grants rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, or complaint, the User may contact wmdm at wmdm314@outlook.com. Requests concerning data controlled by Steam or another independent service provider should be made through that provider.
Section 10 - Third-party software and licenses
The Product contains or uses Electron, Chromium, PixiJS, Ollama, Gemma, CosyVoice, Steamworks, Live2D components, and other third-party software or materials. They remain owned by their respective rights holders and are subject to their own licenses, model terms, or service agreements.
Third-party notices, applicable licenses, and notice texts are included with the Product in Third Party Notices, THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md, Gemma-NOTICE.txt, and the licenses directory. Third-party names identify technical sources only and do not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or partnership.
Section 11 - Disclaimers and liability limits
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Product is provided as is and as available. wmdm does not guarantee uninterrupted operation, compatibility with every device, accurate AI output, identical voice results, network availability, or the absence of risk in User content.
For losses arising from User content, third-party services, AI output, network interruption, data loss, unauthorized use of materials, or circumstances beyond the reasonable control of wmdm, wmdm is liable only to the extent required by applicable law. Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits liability for intentional wrongdoing, fraud, gross negligence, personal injury, or a consumer right that applicable law does not allow to be excluded or limited.
Section 12 - Updates and contact
wmdm may update this Agreement for functionality, security, compliance, or Steam requirements. Material changes will be notified through a Product update, Steam page, or another reasonable channel when practicable.
