CALCIO 98
END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT (EULA)
Version 1.0 - effective August 1, 2026
This End User License Agreement (the "Agreement") governs the use of the video
game Calcio 98, including the software, updates, data and documentation supplied
with it (collectively, the "Game").
The Game is licensed by:
Vertigo S.r.l.
Via Donizetti 52
50018 Scandicci (FI), Italy
VAT number: IT07122460483
Email: vertigosrlmail@gmail.com
In this Agreement, "Vertigo" means Vertigo S.r.l.; "user" means the person who
lawfully acquires or uses the Game; and "Steam" means the platform operated by
Valve Corporation and its affiliates.
By installing, launching or using the Game after this Agreement has been made
available, the user accepts these terms. If the user does not accept them, the
user must not install or use the Game and may exercise any applicable refund or
withdrawal rights through Steam. If the user is a minor or otherwise lacks the
required legal capacity, this Agreement must be accepted by a parent or legal
guardian in accordance with applicable law.
1. RELATIONSHIP WITH STEAM
The purchase, payment, download, updates, refunds, platform features and use of
the Steam account are also governed by the Steam Subscriber Agreement and
Steam's rules. This Agreement is solely between the user and Vertigo and governs
the license to the Game. Valve is not a party to this Agreement and is not
responsible for the Game, except as provided by its own agreements or applicable
law.
In the event of a conflict, Steam's terms prevail with respect to services
operated by Steam, while this Agreement prevails with respect to the license to
the Game. The user's mandatory statutory rights always remain unaffected.
2. LICENSE GRANT
Provided that the user complies with this Agreement and maintains a valid right
to access the Game through Steam, Vertigo grants the user a limited, personal,
non-exclusive license, revocable in the circumstances set out in this Agreement
and non-transferable except as permitted by law or by authorized Steam features,
to install and use the Game on compatible devices for private, non-commercial
purposes.
The license does not constitute a sale of the Game or a transfer of intellectual
property rights. Family sharing, lending or access from multiple devices is
permitted only through the features made available by Steam.
The user may create and publish screenshots, gameplay videos and live streams,
including content monetized through the ordinary features of content platforms,
provided that such content is not presented as an official Vertigo product,
does not include unlawful material and respects third-party rights.
3. RESTRICTIONS ON USE
Except as expressly permitted by applicable law, the user may not:
a) copy, distribute, sell, sublicense, rent or make the Game or any part of it
available outside the features authorized by Steam;
b) modify, translate, adapt, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the
Game, except to the extent mandatorily permitted by law, particularly for
interoperability purposes;
c) remove or alter copyright notices, trademarks, legal notices or technical
protection measures;
d) use the Game or its data to infringe third-party rights, laws or regulations;
e) use the Game to provide unauthorized commercial services, resell access to
it or distribute copies of it;
f) present modifications, content, data or communications not published by
Vertigo as official.
Nothing in this Agreement limits any exception or mandatory right recognized by
applicable law.
4. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The Game, the Calcio 98 trademark, its code, graphics, text, interface, music,
original databases and other proprietary content are owned by Vertigo or the
respective licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property
laws.
The Game is an original work and does not contain original assets from earlier
third-party football video games. Any descriptive references to third-party
products, companies or trademarks do not imply affiliation, sponsorship or
endorsement.
5. THIRD-PARTY COMPONENTS AND OPEN-SOURCE LICENSES
The Game includes third-party components and open-source software, including
components based on Godot Engine and GameplayFootball. Those components remain
subject to their respective licenses, reproduced in the THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES file
and in the notices distributed with the Game.
Where a third-party license grants the user broader rights than this Agreement,
that license prevails solely with respect to the relevant component. This
Agreement does not restrict rights granted under open-source licenses.
6. EARLY ACCESS
Calcio 98 is initially distributed in Early Access and is a product under active
development. The user acknowledges that the Early Access version may contain
errors, incomplete features, provisional content and changes to balancing or
performance.
Vertigo may update the Game to correct errors, improve security, compatibility
and performance, modify balancing, add or remove features, comply with legal
obligations or complete development. Information on the current state, included
features and development objectives is provided on the Steam page and through
official communications. Descriptions of future features are objectives and
not promises of a specific delivery date or final form, unless expressly stated
to be binding commitments.
Ordinary updates to the Game do not result in additional charges for a license
already purchased. Vertigo will notify users of material changes through Steam.
All mandatory rights applicable to changes to digital content remain unaffected.
7. SAVED GAMES, UPDATES AND COMPATIBILITY
The Game stores careers and related metadata locally. During Early Access,
changes to the database, rules or data formats may make a previous saved game
incompatible and require the user to start a new career. Whenever reasonably
possible, Vertigo will disclose this circumstance in the update notes, and the
Game will display an error message rather than opening an unsupported saved game.
Compatibility of saved games across all Early Access updates is not guaranteed.
This provision does not limit any mandatory remedies available to consumers in
the event of a lack of conformity of the Game.
If the user enables Steam Cloud, the Steam client may upload and synchronize
saved-game files in accordance with Valve's settings and terms. Vertigo does not
control the operation of the Steam platform and recommends avoiding forcibly
closing the Game or the client while synchronization is in progress.
8. FICTIONAL NAMES AND CONTENT
Unless expressly stated otherwise, the names, designations, badges, colors,
kits, teams, clubs, executives, footballers, competitions, leagues,
associations, sponsors, venues, events and other elements represented in the
Game are fictional. Any resemblance or coincidence with real persons, legal
entities, organizations, competitions, trademarks or events is purely
coincidental and does not imply affiliation, licensing, sponsorship or
endorsement.
9. USER CUSTOMIZATIONS
The Game may allow the user to modify or locally import names and other custom
data. Vertigo does not select, monitor, approve or verify those customizations
and does not receive them automatically. They do not become official Game
content and remain the sole responsibility of the user.
The user is responsible for holding the rights and permissions required for any
data entered and for ensuring that it does not infringe third-party rights, laws
or regulations. The ability to customize the Game locally does not authorize
the distribution of databases, patches, copies of the Game or other protected
content. Local import does not transfer any rights in the user's data to Vertigo.
10. PERSONAL DATA AND DIAGNOSTICS
The initial version of the Game does not require a Vertigo account, does not
include gameplay telemetry and does not automatically send saved games, custom
data or diagnostic reports to Vertigo.
Only at the user's express request, the Game may create a local diagnostic
report containing the Game version, build identifier, platform, bootstrap
database hash and recent technical errors. The report is not transmitted
automatically. If the user chooses to send it to Vertigo for support, the data
will be processed solely to handle the request, in accordance with applicable
law and the information provided at the time of contact.
Steam may process data relating to the account, purchases, use of the platform
and Steam Cloud in accordance with Valve's terms and privacy policy. Such
processing is separate from any processing performed by Vertigo.
11. SUPPORT AND AVAILABILITY
Support requests relating to the Game may be sent to
vertigosrlmail@gmail.com. Platform services, including downloads,
authentication, updates and Steam Cloud, depend on Steam and may be temporarily
unavailable for reasons outside Vertigo's control.
Vertigo does not guarantee that the Game will be completely free of errors or
operate without interruption on configurations other than the published system
requirements. This does not limit any mandatory obligations concerning
conformity, updates or support.
12. CONFORMITY AND CONSUMER RIGHTS
Users acting as consumers retain all mandatory rights under the Italian Consumer
Code and the applicable laws of their country of residence, including rights
relating to supply, conformity, necessary updates and remedies for digital
content.
In the event of a lack of conformity, the user may be entitled under applicable
law to have conformity restored, receive a price reduction or terminate the
contract. No provision of this Agreement excludes, limits or replaces those
rights.
13. WITHDRAWAL AND REFUNDS
Refund requests for purchases made through Steam are handled through Steam in
accordance with its procedures, without prejudice to mandatory applicable law.
The right of withdrawal for digital content, the procedure for exercising it
and any loss of that right after performance has begun are governed by law and
by the information and consents collected during the purchase process.
This Agreement does not require the user to waive in advance any withdrawal or
refund right granted by law.
14. WARRANTIES
Subject to all mandatory statutory warranties, the Game is provided as-is and
in accordance with the characteristics described on the Steam page. In
particular, Vertigo does not guarantee specific virtual sporting results,
absolute continuity, total absence of errors or compatibility with hardware,
software or modifications outside the published requirements.
The Game is intended solely for entertainment and does not constitute sporting,
financial or professional advice.
15. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vertigo is not liable for indirect or
consequential losses that were not reasonably foreseeable and arise from the use
of, or inability to use, the Game.
Nothing in this Agreement limits or excludes liability for fraud, willful
misconduct or gross negligence, death or personal injury attributable to
Vertigo, breach of mandatory obligations, damage to data or devices for which
the law provides a mandatory remedy, or any other liability that may not be
excluded or limited.
For users not acting as consumers, and only to the extent permitted by law,
Vertigo's total liability in connection with the Game will not exceed the amount
actually paid by the user for the license during the twelve months preceding the
event giving rise to liability.
16. TERM AND TERMINATION
This Agreement remains effective while the user retains and uses the Game. The
user may terminate it at any time by uninstalling the Game and discontinuing its
use, without prejudice to financial relationships and rights administered by
Steam.
Vertigo may terminate this Agreement in the event of a material or repeated
breach of these terms, after notice and a reasonable opportunity to remedy the
breach where appropriate, except where the breach cannot be remedied or
immediate action is required by law or for security reasons. Upon termination,
the user must discontinue use and remove all unauthorized copies of the Game.
Termination does not affect accrued rights or the consumer's mandatory rights.
Provisions that by their nature are intended to survive, including those on
intellectual property, liability and governing law, remain effective.
17. CHANGES TO THIS AGREEMENT
Vertigo may update this Agreement for legal, security or technical reasons, or
to reflect material changes to the Game. The new version will be clearly
communicated through Steam or within the Game and will state its effective date.
Changes will not apply retroactively or reduce rights already accrued. Where a
new consent is required by law, the change will become effective only after that
consent. Mandatory remedies remain available where a change has a more than
minor negative effect on access to or use of the digital content.
18. GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION
This Agreement is governed by Italian law.
Consumers residing in the European Union or in another jurisdiction providing
mandatory protections retain the protection of the mandatory laws of their
country of residence. Any dispute will be heard by the court having jurisdiction
under applicable law, including the consumer's local court where required.
For users not acting as consumers, the courts of Florence, Italy, have exclusive
jurisdiction, except where another jurisdiction is mandatorily required.
19. FINAL PROVISIONS
If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, it will be applied to the
fullest extent permitted and the remaining provisions will remain effective.
Failure to exercise a right does not constitute a waiver.
This Agreement, together with the licenses for third-party components and the
applicable Steam terms, constitutes the agreement governing use of the Game and
supersedes prior understandings on the same subject. If translations are made
available, the Italian version is the reference text to the extent permitted by
law; mandatory information and protections owed in the consumer's language
remain unaffected.

content and remain the sole responsibility of the user.
The user is responsible for holding the rights and permissions required for any

breach of these terms, after notice and a reasonable opportunity to remedy the
breach where appropriate, except where the breach cannot be remedied or
immediate action is required by law or for security reasons.
Vertigo may update this Agreement for legal, security or technical reasons, or

minor negative effect on access to or use of the digital content.
For users not acting as consumers, the courts of Florence, Italy, have exclusive
jurisdiction, except where another jurisdiction is mandatorily required.

law; mandatory information and protections owed in the consumer's language
remain unaffected.
