The Licensor grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
Your leaderboard display name is either a name you enter manually (up to 16 characters) or a gamer nickname from your platform (Steam, Google Play, Apple Game Center). You can change your display name at any time. No real name is ever required.
The Game's online leaderboard system is a core part of the gameplay experience. To operate online leaderboards, the Game must transmit gameplay data to our servers for score verification (anti-cheat) and leaderboard display. Online leaderboards are enabled by default.
You can disable online leaderboards at any time: Settings > Online & Privacy > Online Leaderboards > OFF. When disabled, the Game uses a local-only scoreboard and no scores are transmitted. The Game remains fully playable. You can re-enable at any time.
5.2 Gameplay Telemetry
The Game collects pseudonymous session summaries after each completed game to help the developer identify balance issues and improve the Game. Telemetry is enabled by default and can be controlled independently from online leaderboards.
You can disable telemetry at any time: Settings > Online & Privacy > Telemetry > OFF. When disabled, no session summaries are sent.
5.3 Automatic Error Reporting
The Game automatically sends pseudonymous error reports to our servers whenever an internet connection is available. These reports contain technical diagnostic information (error messages, stack traces, game version, platform) and your random player UUID where available; they are not linked to your real identity and are used solely to identify and fix bugs. Error reports are capped per session and automatically deleted after 30 days.
Error reporting is always active and is not affected by the leaderboard or telemetry settings. If no internet connection is available, error reports are silently discarded. The lawful basis for error reporting is legitimate interest (ensuring software quality and fixing bugs). See the Privacy Policy for full details, including the balancing test and your rights.
5.4 Privacy
The Game collects pseudonymous gameplay data as described in our Privacy Policy (included with the Game). By using the Game, you acknowledge and agree to the data practices described therein.
No real name, email address, or precise location is ever collected or transmitted, and no data that directly identifies you is requested. All gameplay data is pseudonymous — linked only to a random identifier, not to your real identity. See the Privacy Policy for full details on what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights (including in-game data export and deletion).

The Game's online features (leaderboards, telemetry, error reporting) rely on third-party infrastructure and services, including Cloudflare and platform services (Steam, Apple App Store, Google Play). The availability of these online features depends on the continued operation of those external providers, which is outside the Licensor's control. The Licensor is not responsible for outages, interruptions, or changes to third-party services. Third-party services are subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
The Licensor warrants that the Game will conform to the description provided at the time of purchase and will be fit for the purposes for which digital content of this type is normally used, as required by applicable law including Directive (EU) 2019/770 (Digital Content Directive) and the Finnish Consumer Protection Act (kuluttajansuojalaki).
If the Game does not conform to this Agreement, you have the right to have it brought into conformity. If conformity cannot be achieved within a reasonable time or without significant inconvenience, you are entitled to a proportionate price reduction or a full refund where appropriate.
8.2 Disclaimer of Additional Warranties
Beyond the conformity guarantee in Section 8.1 and any warranties that cannot be excluded under your local consumer protection law, the Licensor makes no additional warranties, express or implied. In particular, the Licensor does not warrant that the Game will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of all defects, or that it will be compatible with any particular third-party hardware or software not specified in the system requirements.
8.3 Jurisdiction-Specific Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Agreement limits or excludes any statutory consumer rights that cannot be waived under applicable law, including but not limited to rights under EU/EEA consumer protection law, the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Australian Consumer Law, or equivalent legislation in your jurisdiction. Where this Agreement conflicts with such mandatory rights, the mandatory rights prevail.
Subject to the above, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Licensor shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, or interruption of service, arising from your use of the Game.
Subject to the above, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Licensor's total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Game.
If you purchased the Game through a third-party platform, refund requests are typically handled by that platform under its own refund policy:
10.2 Statutory Refund Rights
Platform refund policies do not limit your statutory rights. If the Game does not conform to this Agreement as described in Section 8.1 and cannot be brought into conformity within a reasonable time, you are entitled to a proportionate price reduction or a full refund under applicable consumer protection law, regardless of the platform's own policy.
To request a statutory refund directly from the Licensor, contact us at games@rootnode.fi with your proof of purchase. We will respond within 14 days.
10.3 Right of Withdrawal (EU/EEA)
Under the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU), EU/EEA consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases. For digital content delivered immediately upon purchase, you may be asked by the platform to consent to immediate delivery and to acknowledge that you waive your right of withdrawal once delivery has begun. Where no such consent was obtained, the 14-day withdrawal right applies.
The Licensor may discontinue the Game's online services (leaderboards, telemetry) with at least 30 days' prior notice, communicated through the Game's website, in-game notice, or update notes. Discontinuation of online services does not affect your ability to play the Game offline. The Licensor will not discontinue the Game itself (offline play) for copies already purchased.
For users in the European Union: Nothing in this Agreement affects your statutory rights as a consumer under applicable EU consumer protection law, including your right of withdrawal where applicable.
Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Helsinki, Finland, unless you are entitled to bring proceedings in your local courts under applicable consumer protection law.
If you do not agree with a material change, you may stop using the Game and request a refund under Section 10.2 if the change substantially reduces the value of the Game as described at the time of purchase. Continued use of the Game after the 30-day notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Non-material changes (e.g., formatting, clarifications that do not alter your rights or obligations) may be made without advance notice.
This clause does not apply to planned maintenance, software defects in the Game, or business decisions to discontinue features. The Licensor will make reasonable efforts to resume affected services when the event ends and to notify users through available channels.
