These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Turing Speech LLC ("we", "us"), the maker of GenderShift ("the App"). By installing or using the App you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Eligibility — You must be old enough to hold a Steam account and to give consent under the laws of your country (at least 13, or the higher minimum age that applies where you live). If you are under the age of majority, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and accepted these Terms.
2. What the App does — GenderShift captures your microphone audio while you hold the talk button, sends that audio to a third-party voice provider (ElevenLabs) to transform it, and plays the transformed result through a virtual audio device so other apps (such as VRChat) can use it as a microphone. Your audio leaves your computer and is processed on third-party servers. We do not use your audio for any purpose other than producing the transformed voice you requested. See the Privacy Policy for details on data handling.
3. License — We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App for your own use, subject to these Terms and to the Steam Subscriber Agreement. You may not resell, rent, sublicense, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code or API keys from the App, except where such restriction is prohibited by law.
4. Acceptable use — You agree not to use the App to:
impersonate a real, identifiable person without their clear consent;
commit fraud, deceive others about your identity for unlawful gain, or evade identity verification;
harass, threaten, defame, or abuse anyone;
create content that is illegal, that sexualizes minors, or that incites violence or hatred;
violate the rights of others, including privacy and intellectual property rights;
interfere with, overload, or attempt to bypass the App's metering, credit, or security systems.
You are responsible for how you use the transformed voice and for complying with the rules of any platform you use it on.
5. Credits, purchases, and limits — Some features consume credits. Credits are sold as in-app purchases through Steam and are governed by the Steam Subscriber Agreement and Steam Refund Policy in addition to these Terms. Credits are licensed, not sold: they are non-transferable, have no cash value, and cannot be redeemed for money. A free allowance is provided so you can try the App. Daily and total usage limits may apply to keep the service running for everyone. We may adjust prices, credit amounts, and limits over time. Except where required by law or by Steam's policies, purchases are non-refundable. If a transformation fails on our side, the credits for that request are not charged.
6. Early Access and availability — The App is offered in Early Access. Features may change, break, or be removed, and the service may be unavailable at times. We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the App at any time. We rely on third-party services (including ElevenLabs, Steam, and cloud infrastructure) whose availability we do not control.
7. Disclaimers — THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the transformed voice will meet your expectations.
8. Limitation of liability — TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so some of the above may not apply to you.
9. Termination — You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or use the App in a way that harms others or the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including license restrictions, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.
10. Changes to these Terms — We may update these Terms. When we make material changes, we will update the version shown in the App and ask you to accept the new Terms before continuing to use paid features. Your continued use after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law — These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where required by your local consumer protection law, those mandatory protections still apply to you.
