END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT (EULA)

1. Acceptance of the Agreement
This End User License Agreement (“EULA”) is a legal agreement between you (“User”) and Aptitude X Inc., developer and publisher of the video game Echo-1 – Guardian of the St. Lawrence (“the Software”).
By installing, downloading, accessing, or using the Software through the Steam platform, you agree to be bound by the terms of this EULA. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.

2. License Grant
Aptitude X Inc. grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Software for personal, non-commercial purposes only, in accordance with this EULA and Steam’s terms of service.

3. Restrictions
You may not: - Copy, modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works from the Software; - Distribute, rent, sell, sublicense, or make the Software available to third parties; - Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except as permitted by law; - Remove or alter any copyright or proprietary notices.

4. Intellectual Property
The Software, including but not limited to source code, graphics, 3D models, music, audio, text, storylines, logos, and trademarks, is the exclusive property of Aptitude X Inc. and its licensors.
No ownership rights are transferred under this EULA.

5. Educational Content Disclaimer
Echo-1 is an educational and entertainment game inspired by maritime safety and search-and-rescue operations.
The Software does not replace professional training, official certification, or real-world rescue procedures.
Aptitude X Inc. shall not be liable for any misuse or misinterpretation of the Software content in real-life situations.

6. Data Collection
The Software may collect anonymous technical or analytical data for: - performance optimization; - bug fixing; - usage statistics.
All data collection complies with applicable data protection laws and the associated privacy policy.

7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aptitude X Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the Software.

8. Termination
This EULA remains effective until terminated.
It will terminate automatically if you fail to comply with any provision. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Software and destroy all copies.

9. Governing Law
This EULA shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles.

10. Entire Agreement
This EULA constitutes the entire agreement between the User and Aptitude X Inc. regarding the Software and supersedes all prior agreements.

STEAMWORKS APPENDIX – SPECIFIC TERMS
• This EULA is presented via the Steam platform and applies in addition to the Steam Subscriber Agreement.
• Steam is not responsible for the content of the Software.
• Explicit acceptance by the User is required upon first launch.
• This Software may be offered in Early Access: some features may be incomplete, unstable, or subject to change without notice.
• The User authorizes the capture, distribution, and streaming of game content (video, screenshots) for personal, non-commercial use, including on Twitch, YouTube, and similar platforms.
• No virtual item has real monetary value.
• Any attempt to circumvent protection systems or DRM constitutes a violation of this EULA.
