ShatterRush Privacy Policy and Terms of Service
Last updated: 9 July 2026
Key Changes:
In v0.19.0+, we now use Easy Anti Cheat to ensure competitive integrity in our game. Thank you for your support in helping us fight against cheaters!
Summary:
ShatterRush Open Pre-Alpha ("the Game") is a free multiplayer game demo made by Tetra Studios, referred to here as "we" or "us". It is available on Steam and itch.io. This page covers what information we handle (the Privacy Policy) and the rules for playing (the Terms of Service). By installing or playing ShatterRush, you agree to both. If you do not agree, please do not play.
"Personal information" means information that identifies you, as defined by the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the EU and UK GDPR, and the California CCPA/CPRA, where those laws apply to you.
---
Privacy Policy
1. What we collect and why
We collect the following to run the Game:
- Account and identity information: your Steam or Epic Online Services (EOS) account ID, a sign-in token, and the name you play under (including names you have used before). We use this to sign you in, run matches, and list you on leaderboards.
- Technical information: your IP address and basic details about your device and system. We use this for connectivity and, as explained below, for fair play.
- Gameplay information: match results, scores, leaderboard times, and in-match statistics, which we use for scoring, matchmaking, and rankings.
- Anti-cheat and moderation information: to keep matches fair, our anti-cheat and moderation systems handle your account ID, display name, IP address, and a hardware identifier for your device, together with records of suspected cheating, player reports, and any timeouts or bans. We use your IP address and hardware identifier to enforce bans and to prevent a banned player from returning on a new account or the same machine, so a ban can apply to your account, your device, or both.
- Analytics: we collect gameplay and error or performance data (including basic device information) through GameAnalytics.
- Feedback you send us: if you use the in-game feedback or bug-report tool, we receive what you write and anything you attach, such as a log file, a screenshot, or a short clip. This is optional and is only sent when you submit it.
We collect only what these features need in order to work.
To detect cheating, the Game uses Easy Anti-Cheat, a service provided by Epic Games. While you play, Easy Anti-Cheat runs on your device to detect cheating, and it may collect information about your device, operating system, and running software, together with a hardware identifier, to do so and to enforce bans. It installs a component that runs while the Game is open, which may include a system-level driver. Your use of Easy Anti-Cheat is also governed by Epic's privacy policy and terms.
2. Who we share it with
We rely on the service providers below to run the Game, and we do not sell your personal information. We may also disclose information where you consent, or where the law requires it.
- Epic Games / Epic Online Services, for accounts, matchmaking, leaderboards, and Easy Anti-Cheat: https://legal.epicgames.com/epicgames/privacy-policy
- Valve (Steam), for sign-in on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/privacy_agreement/
- itch.io, if you obtained the Game there: https://itch.io/docs/legal/privacy-policy
- GameAnalytics, for analytics: https://www.gameanalytics.com/trust/privacy-notice
- Cloudflare, which hosts our online services: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/
- BetaHub, for feedback and bug reports: https://betahub.io/privacy/
Some of these providers operate overseas, so your information may be processed in other countries, including the United States and countries in the EU, with appropriate safeguards where the law requires them.
3. How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or for as long as the law requires, and then we delete or de-identify it. Moderation and ban records, including the account, IP, and device details we use to enforce bans, may be kept for a long time so that bans stay effective.
4. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, and our platform and hosting partners use industry-standard encryption while data is in transit. No system is completely secure.
5. Your rights
Everyone can ask us to access or correct their information, or to delete it. To ask us to delete your data, use the form at tetrastudios.com.au/contact with the subject "Request To Delete Personal Data" and your username. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we may keep records that we are required or entitled to keep, such as those we need to enforce a ban. Deletion is a request that we action by hand, and any data held by Steam or Epic must be deleted through them.
If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection, and the right to withdraw consent. You can complain to your local data-protection authority. Our legal bases are: providing the Game (contract); keeping the Game fair and secure, and improving it through analytics (legitimate interests); your consent, for feedback you choose to send us; and our legal obligations. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object to that processing as described above.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know, access, delete, and correct your information, to limit how we use sensitive information, to opt out of the sale or "sharing" of your information (as the CPRA defines "sharing"), and not to be treated differently for using any of these rights. You have these rights whether or not we currently do any of the things they cover. We do not sell or "share" your personal information, and we do not use sensitive information beyond what the law permits.
You can reach us any time at tetrastudios.com.au/contact. If you are in Australia and are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at https://www.oaic.gov.au.
6. Children
ShatterRush is for players aged 13 and over, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Where the law sets a higher age to consent to online services (up to 16 in parts of the EU, and 13 in the UK and the US), a parent or guardian must agree on the child's behalf.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date and give notice where the law requires it. If you keep playing after an update, you accept it.
---
Terms of Service
1. Who can play
You must be at least 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, or under the digital-consent age for online services, you may only play with the consent of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms for you. By playing, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
2. Early access
ShatterRush Open Pre-Alpha is a free playtest and is still in active development. Features may change or stop working, and your data or progress may be reset or lost. We provide the Game "as is" and as it is available, and we do not promise that this demo will be available 24/7.
3. Your licence
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to play ShatterRush for your own non-commercial enjoyment. We reserve all other rights. If you require license with different terms to this, contact us.
4. Accounts
You need a supported account (Steam or EOS, or both) and must follow those platforms' terms. You are responsible for what happens on your account and for keeping it secure.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- harass, threaten, or abuse anyone
- spread hate speech or discriminatory content
- cheat, hack, or use bots or scripts
- submit false reports or deliberately misleading feedback
- spam the Game
- impersonate staff or other players
- engage in illegal activity
- infringe intellectual property rights
- bypass security or anti-cheat measures
- interfere with the Game or its servers, including denial-of-service attacks
- or any other reasonable breach of fair use/play
To keep matches fair, we run Easy Anti-Cheat and our own moderation, described in the Privacy Policy, and you agree to Easy Anti-Cheat running on your device (including any component it installs) as a condition of playing online.
Breaches of these rules may result in a warning, a temporary suspension, or a permanent ban from the Game and any associated ShatterRush accounts or devices. Moderation decisions may be made automatically by our systems or by a human moderator. You can appeal by writing to tetrastudios.com.au/contact.
6. Feedback and user-generated content
You are responsible for content you create in the Game, such as usernames.
If you submit content through the in-game feedback forms, and you send us any ideas, suggestions, feedback, or other material (together, "User-Generated Content"), the following terms apply.
You grant Tetra Studios a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, and display your User-Generated Content in any media and through any channel, with no obligation to notify, credit, or pay you.
To the extent permitted by law, you consent to Tetra Studios using your User-Generated Content in ways that might otherwise infringe your moral rights, and you agree not to assert those rights against us or anyone we license the content to.
Your User-Generated Content is treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary, and we are under no obligation to keep it confidential.
You confirm that you own, or have all the rights, licences, consents, and permissions needed to grant the licence above, and that your User-Generated Content does not infringe anyone else's rights.
You agree to indemnify Tetra Studios against any claim arising out of or connected to your User-Generated Content, including any claim that it infringes intellectual property or privacy rights.
Please do not send us anything confidential or anything that is not yours to share.
7. Payments
ShatterRush is free and has no in-game purchases. If you choose to support us on another platform such as Patreon, that happens under that platform's terms.
8. Third-party services
The Game relies on and links to services run by other companies, including Steam, Epic, itch.io, GameAnalytics, Cloudflare, and BetaHub. We are not responsible for those services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.
9. Intellectual property
ShatterRush and its content belong to Tetra Studios or its licensors. Apart from the licence in section 3, you receive no rights in the Game. The Game is built on Unreal Engine and uses other third-party components that belong to their respective owners.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or end your access at any time if you break these Terms, to comply with the law, or to protect other players. You can stop playing at any time.
11. Disclaimers and liability
As far as the law allows, we provide the Game "as is" without warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data or progress. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded. Where the law lets us limit our liability, it is limited to re-supplying the Game or paying the cost of doing so, which for a free game is nil.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of NSW, Australia, and you and we accept the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer laws of your own country still protect you. Please contact us first at tetrastudios.com.au/contact so we can try to resolve any dispute.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms. When we do, we will update the date and give notice where the law requires it. If you keep playing after a change, you accept it.
