Galactic Prospectors — End User License Agreement

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of Galactic Prospectors (the “Game”) and any related services provided by the developer/publisher (“we,” “us,” “our”), including interaction with Steam Workshop for mods (“UGC,” user-generated content). By installing, accessing, or using the Game, you agree to these Terms.
1) Relationship to Steam
- The Game is distributed via Steam and is subject to the Steam Subscriber Agreement and applicable Steam policies.
- If there is a conflict between these Terms and Steam’s terms regarding Steam platform features (accounts, payments, refunds, Workshop infrastructure), Steam’s terms control for those platform features.
2) License grant
- We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and play the Game for personal, non-commercial entertainment use, subject to these Terms.
- All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
3) Account, eligibility, and access
- Access to the Game requires a valid Steam account in good standing.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Steam account and your device.
4) Keys, transfers, and resale
- Product keys (if used) are typically single-use and become permanently associated with the Steam account used for redemption.
- You may not resell, trade, transfer, or distribute keys or the Game except where applicable law expressly permits.
- Keys obtained through unauthorized channels may be revoked as described in Section 13.
5) Prohibited conduct
You agree not to:- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code from the Game, except to the extent such restrictions are prohibited by applicable law.
- Bypass, disable, or interfere with DRM, anti-cheat, authentication, or security features.
- Develop, use, distribute, or promote cheats, bots, automation, exploits, or hacks that give unfair advantage, degrade performance, or disrupt other users.
- Use the Game in a way that harms others, violates laws, or violates Steam rules (including harassment, hate, or illegal content via names/mods/Workshop pages).
- Interfere with servers, matchmaking, leaderboards, telemetry, or other systems (including denial-of-service or malicious network activity).
6) Updates and changes
- The Game may receive patches, updates, balance changes, bug fixes, compatibility updates, or content changes.
- We may require updates for continued use of the Game or for online features to function.
7) Online features and service availability
- Online features (if any) may require an internet connection and Steam services.
- We may change, suspend, or discontinue online features or services at any time for operational, security, or legal reasons.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of online features.
8) User-generated content and Steam Workshop (Mods)
This section applies if you create, upload, download, enable, or use mods via Steam Workshop or any other supported mod channel.8.1 Mods are optional and at your own risk
- Mods are optional and may be created by third parties. We do not guarantee that any mod is safe, functional, compatible, or available.
- Mods may cause crashes, save corruption, performance issues, or other problems. You assume all risk from installing or using mods.
8.2 Rules for uploading mods
You agree that any mod you upload, publish, or distribute in connection with the Game will:- Not contain malware, spyware, ransomware, crypto-miners, or other malicious code.
- Not include content that is illegal, defamatory, infringing, or violates rights of others (copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, etc.).
- Not contain harassment, threats, or hateful content prohibited by Steam policies or applicable law.
- Not attempt to bypass DRM, authentication, or security; not enable cheating in online contexts; and not materially disrupt gameplay for others.
- Not include private information of others or doxxing content.
8.3 Ownership and licenses for mods
- You retain ownership of original content you create in your mods, subject to any third-party rights you incorporate (which you must have permission to use).
- By submitting or making mods available in connection with the Game (including via Steam Workshop), you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, host, store, reproduce, modify (for compatibility/formatting), adapt, publish, distribute, publicly display, and publicly perform your mod content for the purposes of operating, promoting, supporting, and improving the Game and mod ecosystem.
- You also grant each user who downloads your mod a license to use it solely with the Game, subject to these Terms and Steam’s terms.
- If you include third-party assets (music, art, code), you represent you have the rights to do so and to grant the licenses in this section.
8.4 Moderation, takedowns, and enforcement
- We may (but are not obligated to) review, remove, disable, or restrict mods at any time, with or without notice, including for policy violations, legal risk, compatibility issues, or security concerns.
- We may cooperate with legal requests and respond to intellectual property complaints (including DMCA-style takedown notices where applicable).
- Repeated violations may lead to restrictions on your ability to use online features and/or report you to Steam for platform enforcement.
8.5 Compatibility and breaking changes
- Updates to the Game may break mods. We are not responsible for maintaining compatibility with any specific mod.
- We may change mod APIs, file formats, or loading behavior at any time.
8.6 Multiplayer and fairness
- Some mods may be disallowed in online or competitive contexts.
- We may implement systems that detect or restrict mods for fairness, anti-cheat, or stability.
9) Community guidelines
You agree to behave respectfully and comply with Steam Community Rules and applicable laws when interacting with other players, posting Workshop content, or engaging in forums/discussions related to the Game.10) Intellectual property
- The Game (including code, art, audio, narrative, trademarks, and logos) is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.
- You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works from the Game except as expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law.
11) Privacy and telemetry
- The Game may collect limited technical data (for example: crash logs, hardware details, performance metrics, and diagnostic events) to improve stability, detect abuse, and support features.
- If you publish a separate privacy policy, it will govern details of data handling; otherwise, data will be handled consistent with this section and applicable law.
12) Disclaimers
- The Game is provided “as is” and “as available.”
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, including for online features or mods.
13) Revocation and enforcement (fraud/chargebacks/abuse)
- We may suspend or terminate access to the Game or services, and/or revoke keys/entitlements, if we reasonably believe there is fraud, chargeback abuse, unauthorized key distribution, cheating, security threats, or material violations of these Terms.
- Enforcement actions may also be taken through Steam pursuant to Steam policies.
14) Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages (including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption).
- Our total liability for any claim related to the Game will not exceed the amount you paid for the Game (or, if you paid nothing, a nominal amount), except where prohibited by law.
15) Changes to these Terms
- We may update these Terms from time to time.
- Continued use of the Game after updated Terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, except where additional consent is required by law.
16) Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of Colorado, United States, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be brought in the courts located in El Paso County, Colorado, United States, unless applicable law provides otherwise.17) Contact
