If it were by me I would throw your data in a trashcan and set that trashcan on fire without a second look. Unfortunately, it takes a village to make a game, and that village is full of people who want a short lil peek at that data (affectionately). Here is a short overview of who will recieve what data and why.
1. We will use your IP address and pass it to Epic Games to ascertain which location your voice chat server should be located at.
Why? Unfortunately, I don’t have any other way of assigning you a lag free, close-by voice chat server, I don’t personally save or interact with your IP address in any way, if it helps, but otherwise it’s in Epics hands.
Your IP adress will not be brought into association with your Steam account.
You can find out how Epic uses your data in their privacy policy.
2. We save how long voice skins are used by users
This is so our partner Modulate, Inc. can gage intereset and usage of voice skins. This is the only data associated with your identity that we store. We hope that’s cool with you. This data is passed along to Modulate, Inc without your steam id attached to it, we just share an aggreagte of usage data and not shared with any other third party.
3. By clicking agree you confirm that you are above the age of 13
Why? I honestly have no idea. I watched the TV show Silicon Valley and Kumail Nanjianis character got into millions of dollars of debt because he didn’t ask his voice chat users whether they’re older than 13. I don’t have millions of dollars, so I’m just trying to cover my bases here.
4. We do not save voice chat data. Under any circumstances.
I just want to mention this to ensure you that whatever you talk about remains in your private game lobbys. I don't save any voice chat data and I don't plan on doing this in the future. You might be confused by the "Replays" feature. This doesn't save your conversations on our server, but only on your personal device. After you close the game, this data will be deleted and is never backed up or accessed by our servers. Your secrets are safe.
