Sidestep Legends - LingonStudios
The full release of Sidestep Legends is here! In this post I will present the new things that have been added in the 1.0 update, future plans for the game and the detailed patch notes for the update.

Important note: This update includes some rearranges in the skill tree and therefore your skill tree will be reset. All your spent gold will be refunded. Just remember to level up the upgrades you want to have again when starting the game.

Summary of early access updates
For those of you who only played one of the earlier versions during early access let's start with a summary of what has been added in the previous updates during early access. If you have been keeping up with the updates during early access you can skip this part. The first updates improved the collision handling of the player and the path finding for the boss. From my observations from players playing the game these two were the most important things to address first.

The next update added the character Grendel's Mother. She has the unique passive that she can use her basic attack while moving. This was something requested by several people that were more used to playing more relaxed games in the genre. While I did not want to change the game completely and add attacking while moving to all characters, giving this as a passive to one character felt like a good compromise.

The next big update was the minion update. It was divided in two updates each adding two new minion types. Each minion type has their own strength compared to the basic minion. The earth minion has more health, the fire minion deals more damage, the ice minion slows the player and the air minion is faster.

After the minion update it came the map rework update. In this four new hostile abilities were introduced. Two new crowd control abilities, the ice projectile which slows the player if hit and the whirlwind which stuns the player if hit. Each crowd control ability is only present on one map, the ice projectile on Asag's Forest, the root projectile on Pirate Island and the whirlwind on The Forge. So the crowd controls get harder with each map. Two new hostile damage abilities were also added in this update, the arcane spin and the galaxy orb. Arcane spin is mostly on The Forge and Galaxy Orb mostly on Pirate Island. To help the player survive these new challenges two new healing abilities were added, Healing Circle and Healing Potion.

This update also came with a rework of the curse upgrade. It is now divided into four different upgrades allowing for more granular control of the difficulty. One for how fast minions spawns, one for how much damage minions do, one for how many hostile abilities spawn and one for how much damage hostile abilities do. All of them are found in the skill tree.

In the last update during early access I added an important part of games in this genre, the reroll, banish and lock options for upgrades. They can be unlocked in the skill tree and you can unlock a lot of them as long as you have the gold to really help you get to that specific build you have in mind.

This was a summary of the updates during early access, there were some more bug fixes, balance changes and minor features added that you can read about in the past patch notes posts.

New things in the 1.0 update
So let's get to what is new in this update. As you may have seen in the preview image of this post this update introduces three new characters. Each of them has a new ability that they start with and a new passive ability.

Abaddon has the passive Aspect Of The Demon which makes him completely immune to crowd control effects, but whenever he gets hit by a crowd control ability his healing is reduced by 50% for 10 seconds. This hero should hopefully help the ones of you that get too frustrated by the crowd control effects, but you still have to be careful about taking damage since it might not be so easy to heal yourself up again. He starts with the new ability Firestorm which when active summons a circle of fire around the player which damages all minions inside it.

Bodhmall starts with the new ability Bear and Healing Circle. Bear gives you a bear pet that attacks enemies and can be targeted by hostile abilities and enemies. Her passive is Beastmastery which heals her or the bear depending on who has the lowest health whenever she uses an ability or the bear attacks.

Monk has the passive Protective Spirit which makes it so you cannot lose more than 10% of your max health form a single attack or ability. He starts with the new ability Holy Fire which when active damages a nearby enemy every time he takes damage. Look for a couple of new upgrades that lowers your max health but increases a lot of other stats with this hero.

New map Desert. This map is the hardest of the maps and includes all the different hostile abilities and has a higher minion spawn rate and higher ability spawn count.

The next new feature is achievements. There are 100 achievements. Some are simpler such as unlocking a certain ability and some more challenging such as surviving for a certain time or clearing a map with some restriction. Worth noting is that I had plans for about double the amount of achievements but Steam does not let me add more until "your title reaches our confidence metric". Which is a bit of a shame, of course if the game at some point has sold enough copies to reach this confidence metric I will add the additional achievements.

The final new feature in this update is Steam Leaderboards. I came up with three areas I thought would be fun to compete with other on, minion kills, curse level and overtime. Minion kills is just the number of minions you kill during a game. Curse level is the combined curse level from the four curse upgrades in the skill tree. When you complete the 20 waves on a map your combined curse level will be added to the leaderboard. Overtime is the time you survive on the Death Wave. Each of these categories have their own leaderboard for all four maps, so in total there are 12 leaderboards to compete on.

There are also some balance updates, bug fixes, a few new combo upgrades as well as upgrades for all the new abilities. You can read all the details about those in the full patch notes at the end of this post.

Future plans for Sidestep Legends
So now when the game is out of early access, what is next? With this update I feel like I have added pretty much all the things I really wanted to add to the game. Of course with a game like this there are endless new things you could add and I do have some ideas for new abilities that I did not get to. However unfortunately so far the game has not sold nearly well enough to be able to sustain me as a full time indie developer. So in order to be able to keep doing that I need to move on to new projects.

I will of course make new updates fixing any bugs that appear and I have a few more combo upgrades that I want to add that I did not have time for in this update. So you can expect one or two updates in the coming month with those. But there will probably not be any more significant content added to the game. Maybe I might add some more new combo upgrades every once in a while or even a new ability if I feel the need to take a small break from other projects. Especially if you leave suggestions in the Steam discussion boards or on the Discord server, for example ideas about fun combo upgrades for any of the ability combinations that don't have any combo upgrade yet. That would greatly increase the chance that I add some new things since then it would feel worth it even if the sales aren't enough.

  • New combo upgrade Holy Fire Blink. Blink to a random nearby location whenever you take damage while Holy Fire is active
  • New combo upgrade Holy Fire Cooldown. Gain 15% chance to reduce the current cooldown of all other abilities by 3 seconds whenever you take damage while Holy Fire is active
  • New ability Bear. Summon a bear that can attack enemies and get targeted by hostile abilities and enemy units
  • New upgrade Bear Damage. Increase the damage of the bear by 20
  • New upgrade Bear Health. Increase the health of the bear by 10%
  • New upgrade Bear Health Regeneration. Increase health regeneration of the bear by 2 per 5 seconds
  • New combo upgrade Bear Bloodlust. Whenever the Bloodlust abiltiy is active, the bear gets the same attack speed increase
  • New combo upgrade Bear Sprint. Whenever the Sprint abiltiy is active, the bear gets the same movement speed increase

  • Channel Heal now heals every half second instead of every second, base healing of the ability has been halved to compensate

Bug fixes
  • Fixed the description of the Weapon Dash Damage Stacks buff that had the wrong damage value
  • Fixed a bug causing ability curse damage to be used instead of minion curse damage when calculating minion damage
  • Fixed so Reroll, Banish and Lock upgrades get reset properly when refunding skill tree upgrades
  • Revive upgrade in the skill tree is now reset properly after refunding upgrades
  • Area upgrade in the skill tree is now reset properly after refunding upgrades
  • Fixed a bug causing less abilities than intended to spawn on The Forge map
  • Fixed a bug causing Healing Potion throw range to not properly being upgraded by ability range upgrades
  • Fixed so circles are activated as long as the player hit circle overlaps the circle, instead of the player mid point
  • Fixed a bug causing Dragon Resilience to somtimes activate when trying to use an ability but not succeding
  • Fixed a bug causing banished combo upgrades to reappear
This Means Warp - Outlier
The time has come! We're delighted to announce that This Means Warp's 1.0 release will be coming on May 4th, 2023!



As you may have noticed from the trailer, the 1.0 release will also contain some exciting updates to the game including the oft-requested second player ship!

Thank you for all of your input and feedback during Early Access! The game has come on leaps and bounds since it's Early Access debut last year, and we're excited to share the 1.0 release with everyone.

As a quick recap, during Early Access the game has seen:
  • New Scenario game modes to experiment with different playstyles
  • Lots of updates to crew AI, including granular control, crew levelling up, more intelligent decision making, and more
  • Dozens of new missions, enemies, and weapons
  • A totally revamped ship mod system
  • New ship systems, including the most-requested player feature - the teleporter for ship-to-ship boarding!
  • More variation in map modifiers, upgrades, ship mods, dialogue options, etc
  • Unlockable character cosmetics
  • Quality of life improvements like inspecting an installed system, shop rerolling, skipping cutscenes, etc

Suicide Countdown: 7 Days - 致意
Hello everyone, this is Zhiyi. Thank you all for your support. Thanks to you, "Suicide Countdown: 7 Days" has successfully released the 1.1.2 version update.

The most important update in this version is the English translation. As a poor developer, I didn't have enough budget to hire a team or individual translator. Luckily, I utilized the mature AI technology to translate the game into English. During the process, I manually checked and ensured that every sentence was true to my intention. Although I believe the translation is ok enough, I am still uncertain about its quality in the eyes of native English speakers. So, I sincerely hope to receive feedback from you all.

Additionally, the game's price in the United States has been reduced from $2.99 to $1.99(In fact, the prices have also been reduced overall in other regions.).

I also have made the following improvements to the game:

1. Redesigned the character illustrations, for example, Fu Jing's was modified to look more like the first version.


Other characters have also been modified, so feel free to open the game and experience it for yourself.

2. Improved the backgrounds, such as the Han Chuan's home, to better match the game's atmosphere and reduce the 3D rendering feeling.

Other backgrounds have also been changed, so please update and experience them.

3. Player can now skip the game's cutscenes by pressing the left mouse button after just one second.

4. The game language and Steam client UI language will be automatically synchronized the first time the game is launched. If players find that the language is not in English after launching the game, they can manually change it in the Config.

Narration Playback Speed
  • Players using ‘Let Games Read to Me’ now have additional control within the Settings Menu to adjust the speed of the narration. This will allow players to set a speed that is the most convenient and comfortable for them.

Twitch Drops
  • Continue to unlock cosmetics throughout Season Nine with Twitch Drops! Stay tuned to Sea of Thieves social channels to find out when Twitch Drops will be active for Partnered streamers, allowing players to earn a selection of items from the Eastern Winds Sapphire set.

Fixed Issues
Gameplay
  • Seagulls now appear over treasure dropped when defeating a Megalodon.
  • Supply barrels jettisoned from a ship will no longer sink while players are nearby.
  • Supply barrels harpooned onto a ship will no longer disappear when sailing away from the area where they were collected.
  • Players are no longer able to bypass the purchase limit at the shipwright and retrieve multiple supplies.
  • Crews are now granted the correct Emissary Grade progression when bringing treasure onto their ship using a harpoon.
  • Players below deck caught by the blast from a Trident of Dark Tides as it hits the outside of the ship’s hull will now take reduced damage as intended.
  • Rowboats containing treasure will no longer leave items floating in the air when undocked from the Sovereigns’ dock.
  • When taking part in a Skeleton Fleet battle, player ships in close proximity to each other will no longer prevent the fleet from appearing from the depths.
  • Players discovering the Chest of Legends at the final dig site during a Search for Cursed Treasure will now find the Voyage completes as intended.
  • Pirates are now prevented from retrieving multiple Voyages from a Mysterious Journal.
  • ‘A Pirate’s Life’ – Crews are now prevented from using the cage key on a nearby door, which would block them from being able to complete the Tall Tale.
  • ‘Revenge of the Morningstar’ – Crews are no longer rewarded when cashing in the Skull of Captain Douglas or Chalice of Resurrection.
Battle for the Sea of Thieves
  • Crewmates who join during a battle and are held on the Ferry of the Damned are no longer awarded Allegiance when the battle ends.
  • Players who lose a battle while on the Ferry of the Damned should no longer encounter the rare scenario where they appear beneath the waves after returning from the Ferry.
Captains of Adventure
  • Further improvements made to saving ship customisations, reducing scenarios where Captains saving a livery, decoration or Trinket would result in their chosen customisations not persisting between sessions.
  • A Captain's Logbook will now maintain a consistent record of events after migrating across servers.
  • Players should no longer find that events recorded in a Logbook found floating at sea suddenly become blank after reading.
  • A Captain's Logbook will now retain its customised appearance after being placed in a Collector’s Chest, or after being dropped and picked up.
  • A Captain's Logbook will now show the correct events pages after being placed in a Collector’s Chest.
  • Players holding a Captain's Logbook will no longer be offered the option to retrieve treasure from a Collector's Chest.
Pirate Emporium
  • Players are now able to preview the King’s Ransom Crown on their pirate while browsing the Emporium.
  • The glowing eyes on the Frostbite Figurehead are now much more visible at a distance.
  • The Sea Serpent Collector’s Sails now use the correct tile art.
  • The Labyrinth Looter Weapon Bundle now displays the correct iconography.
Environment
  • Pirates can no longer intersect with the environment within the basements of Sea Forts.
  • Within the Pirate Legend Hideout, pirates should no longer be able to push through the environment into the sea.
  • Pets can now follow players around the new areas of the Pirate Legend Hideout.
  • ‘Shores of Gold’ – Players are no longer able to bypass the traps and reach the Gold Hoarder’s vault by passing through the environment.
  • ‘A Pirate’s Life’ – Rocks found within the tunnels that lead to Sailor's Grave now appear correctly.
User Interface
  • Players on lower-spec hardware should no longer experience graphical issues or missing UI imagery after leaving a session and quickly joining a new session.
  • After raising and lowering an Emissary Flag, bringing up a radial menu should no longer show an active Emissary.
  • After switching categories within the shipwright’s Voyage shop, players making a purchase will no longer find the category is reset.
  • Storage Crates for single resources such as Cannonball Crates no longer display additional UI elements within the storage limits space.
  • Browsing the Trials section within the Pirate’s Log now correctly displays the selected page.
  • The name of a player's pet is now displayed correctly in the chat notification pane.
Accessibility
  • When enabling the extended audio range of sea rocks to improve sailing audio cues, players using headphones will no longer hear audio effects in both ears at the same time.
  • Players using ‘Let Games Read to Me’ will no longer hear punctuation narrated within the Custom Server menus.
  • Players using ‘Let Games Read to Me’ will no longer hear incorrect or repeated narration while navigating the ‘Info and Tips’ section.
Visual and Audio
  • When boarding a ship from the sea, players are no longer able to muffle the boarding audio effects by grabbing the ladder while aiming down sights, ensuring nearby players will always hear someone boarding from the ocean.
  • Pirates striking another ship with cannon fire will no longer hear other game music quieten for an extended period.
  • Players shooting, sprinting and aiming in quick succession with an Eye of Reach should no longer encounter rare scenarios where the weapon animation becomes stuck and prevents aiming down sights.
  • When a Skeleton Fleet battle is active, players moving around The Reaper's Hideout will no longer hear the audio effects cutting out.
  • After speaking with various characters found across the world, players leaving the conversation will now hear the correct ending phrase.
  • Equipping the Lucky Hand Dress no longer causes a pirate’s tattoos to appear cut off.
  • The Sweet Treat Capstan now blends more seamlessly with the pool of chocolate when being raised and lowered.
  • White corners are no longer visible on the Season Nine title screen.
  • The Mysterious Stranger will now consistently appear at the intended level of detail when visited in the tavern.
  • Players with a buried treasure map will now see the correct iconography on the map after migrating servers.
Text and Localisation
  • All ‘Vote to Scuttle’ options within the Settings Menu no longer display debug text strings and are translated to all non-English languages.
  • The description for the Fortune's Favour Commendation has now been corrected to reflect that handing in the Chest of Fortune at a variety of locations will still count towards progressing the Commendation.
  • Players attempting to equip invalid decorations to a Sloop will now see a translated error message in the player’s preferred language.
  • The Emissary tutorials now mention that Doubloons as well as gold and reputation are increased based on Emissary Grade when selling items as an Emissary.
  • When players speak to Larinna, she will now mention the new features introduced as part of Season Nine.
Performance and Stability
  • Improved server stability to reduce instances where players are disconnected from their session.
Known Issues
Sawbones Clothing Visual Issues
  • Elements of the Sawbones Jacket and Sawbones Belt are not affected by the Blessing of Athena’s Fortune, and will currently remain solid in appearance.
Reduced Server Performance
  • Players may experience scenarios where they encounter ping spikes at random while playing, resulting in rubberbanding or client stutters. While improvements were most recently released in update 2.7.3, the team continue to work on further improvements for future updates.
Ranged and Melee Weapon Hit Detection
  • In areas of intense action, players may find themselves firing shots or landing strikes that do not cause damage to their targets. While small improvements continue to be delivered during our regular updates, we are continuing to investigate and identify further improvements to the player combat experience.

Operation Cockpit has arrived! With an additional change to the Anschluss focus in Germany and a message from our Game Designer C0rax explaining the intent behind recent balancing! Below that, as usual, you will find a set of patch notes that is now live. Feel free to give us feedback on these planned changes in this thread, or in our Discord!


The Intent Behind it
The initial intent of hitprofile changes in the naval rebalance started with 1.12.0 was to reduce the effect of speed, this is now complete with the halving of the effect of speed on the calculation.

- decreased HIT_PROFILE_SPEED_FACTOR from 2 to 0.5 this will make ships speed affect hit profiles less

The final calculation is (visibility*100) / (speed*0.5 +20) with this final piece in place destroyers are roughly being hit at the same rate as pre 1.12.0 but the effect of slower speed ships such as capital ships is much lower resulting in greatly reduced hit rates.

For a long time air accidents have been of minimal consequence thus reliability of planes was less valuable than wanted and air accident advisors were of low value. Accidents have now been doubled in occurrence and the amount of aircraft lost per incident is also doubled. This means that reliability modifiers for planes are even more useful and taking that air accident reduction spirit or advisors might be a good idea if you need to conserve your aircraft stocks. Additionally when training as before you get a 1.5x multiplier to accident occurrence when training so keep an eye when training airwings you may have to lose a few aircraft to keep those wings ready for war. Obviously losing more aircraft to accidents reduces your wings experience so we have also increased this so that you can still train your wings in good time despite the increased losses.

- Added Black Sea cores missing from the Polish Fascist branch after selecting the national focus "Decide Post-War Borders".
- Added checks to Hungarian focus "Renew the Rome Protocols" to make sure Austria and Italy exist and are independent.
- Made it harder to do the Anschluss swap exploit.
- Anschluss fix v2. You now need >40k inf eq in the standing army to do it
- Fixed localization for poland.26 event.
- Series of bug fixes focused on Interface and Localization.
