In honor of Lavochkin’s Birthday, the rare La-174 - Soviet jet fighter designed by Lavochkin is available for research and purchase!

On September 11th, 1900 the famous Soviet aircraft designer Semyon Alekseevich Lavochkin was born. Many iconic aircraft, such as the LaGG-3 were designed under his leadership and served with many Soviet pilots during the first half of the World War II. This included the famous La-5 series and up, to some of the first Soviet jets, the advanced La-11 and La-15 fighters. The prototype of those jet aircraft was known under the name "La-174".

Note : In order to obtain and keep the aircraft after the 18th of September, you need not only to research the aircraft, but also to purchase it.

Do you remember how to use towing cable?
You better make sure, it will be useful in this challenge!

The main goal is to recover and evacuate a Gepard SPAA. The vehicle’s engine is out of service, so the only way to deliver it is to use the towing cable to drag it to your team’s zone. The enemy team will do everything to prevent you from doing it and towing is not an easy task on rough surfaces. If you want to be the one who achieves victory, you will need to choose a vehicle with a powerful engine and enough mass.

The main victory condition is that the enemy team should lose all its points. You can do this by delivering the “recovered” tank to the special zone for your team. As soon as the above named vehicle reaches the zone - your enemy will start to lose points.

• Capture and hold the Gepard SPAA at your base.
  
• A destroyed “disputed” SPAAG will reappear in the central zone after 10 seconds.
  
• A team loses 500 points if one of its members is knocked out.
  
• The longer the recovered SPAAG is in the evac zone the faster the enemies lose their points.
  
• The towed Gepard is vulnerable and can be destroyed but for destroying it the team will receive a 2000 point penalty.
  
• You may want to destroy the evacuated Gepard in a no-win situation, or when the “disputed” SPAAG is almost delivered to the enemy zone. By sacrificing some points, you can still create a chance of gaining victory.
  
• Each team consists of 4 players.
  
• You can respawn with all ground vehicles in your lineup.

In update 1.71 New E.R.A. we will introduce a lot of new features and one of them is a long anticipated gunner view for aircraft with one gunner position.

We shall be implementing a new camera view for the defensive turret for more than 50 aircraft with one gunner position. The view has been moved as close to the weapon as possible, thus parallax effect is reduced. This view mode is enabled by default, but you can switch back to classic view in the settings.

We shall be implementing a new camera view for the defensive turret for more than 50 aircraft with one gunner position. The view has been moved as close to the weapon as possible, thus parallax effect is reduced. This view mode is enabled by default, but you can switch back to classic view in the settings.

The War Thunder team is proud to introduce the Ho-Ri, Japan’s first Rank 4 tank destroyer in the Japanese Ground Forces tree.

As the war progressed in the East, it became increasingly evident that Japan’s infantry-support based tank doctrine would not suffice against the growing threat from the United States. Aware of the American M6 Heavy tank, Japan decided to carefully review German tank doctrine. This new policy focused on the development and deployment of a common medium tank with stronger armament, which would in turn be supported by tank-destroyers with high-caliber weaponry.





This machine will surely be a well appreciated addition to the Japanese Ground Forces tech tree, but it doesn’t stop there. Prototype version of the Ho-Ri will be included in Update 1.71 as Rank IV premium vehicle, we also going to add production version of the Ho-Ri as regular vehicle in the Japanese tech tree in our upcoming updates.
