What is an Advisor?

Advisors are dedicated player volunteers who help promote, support, and preserve a positive community on Stash.

They have multiple roles:
  • Moderators: They have various moderation tools available to them to moderate chat and help make sure channels and the community stay positive and non-toxic.

  • Community Organizers: They organize and run events that engage the the community in creative and fun ways. They also participate in chat to keep things active so players feel comfortable jumping in.

  • New Player Helpers: They help new players get acclimated to the game and figure things out.

While all Advisors do a bit of all 3 of the above things, individual Advisors may specialize in certain aspects more than others depending on their personal skill sets and level of comfort.

Rivalry - Kew
This week I worked primarily on strengthening the startup process of the Peer to Peer network connection method. Initially during the startup process if any of the ping messages sent failed to be received, especially if due to latency and a race condition I started listening after the message was sent, then the Peer to Peer connection would also fail as a result. However, now the machine that is sending the ping messages will not only retry sending, but will also retry the connection negotiation process as well. From what I have seen so far the machine sending the ping messages hasn't failed since the change. There was, however, an exception to this when the machine receiving the messages loses all communication from the machine attempting to send them. This only happened twice but that is still enough to warrant an investigation. I will likely need to add a timeout that re-attempts the connection end to end.

Another problem I found was that when I tested peer to peer games with more than 2 players joining at once the whole Unity engine would crash. The obvious conclusion would be that the two people joining at once would be too much traffic for the NAT traversal plugin I am using to handle but even when I changed it so connections would be made synchronously, one after the other, the issue persisted.

The final change made was refactoring the server from a massive block of Javascript into many smaller Typescript classes. This ensures that the server can be both easily understood and modified. It was getting a bit out of hand :)

  • Finish and Test Peer to Peer
  • Complete network game lobby UI (make pretty and complete all network game modes).
  • Complete network game restart UI (make pretty).
  • Research player skins.
  • Research different arenas and backgrounds.
  • General tidy up and enhancement of look and feel..

A new update for your enjoyment. Hopefully the next one is a major update.

New Stuff
  • You can now proclaim your hate for someone which will drop relationship to 5.
  • If your spouse hates you enough they will move out and essentially divorce from you (the church is pretty chill about it). They will still be part of your family and parent to your children, but they will no longer be your spouse.
  • New option in in-game settings that allows you to change autosave to be daily, twice daily, or never.
  • New option in in-game settings allows you to turn off camera edge panning.
  • New buildings for the farms. These new buildings are some of the ones that are going to start replacing all the buildings.
  • All farm animals have been replaced with better models.
  • When listing your building as For Sale you can now opt to sell it directly back to the town for half the value. Less money but instant sale.
  • If someone really likes you (80+) they will appear in the Employ Workers list even if they already have a job. Basically, they will quit their current job to come work for you.


Bug Fixes
  • Spelling corrections.
  • Fixed selection points on lootable objects.
  • Fixed bug where you would move very slowly after being cured.
  • Fixed a bug that will make you stay cold once winter had ended.
  • Fixed a bug that would show a purple LOS type thing for monks.
  • Fixed a bug where people wouldn't die correctly.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause slow-down after loading a game and then there being a storm.
  • Fixed a bug where after losing your house in a fire and then repairing it your spouse and children would not re-home properly.
  • Possible fix for crashing when trying to exit the game.


Changes
  • A lot of texture optimisation.
  • Production events are now scaled properly based on day length.
  • Changed it so that when you hit 0 money your workers do not quit until you miss their wage payment.
  • Tweaks to production times.
  • Bakehouse can now employ an additional worker.
  • You should now earn more from sending a caravan.

Heaven And Earth - Magetastic
Hey everyone, how are you doing this fine weekend?

We've been hard at work, and unless there was some janky bug in the uploading process we have a stable version of the game with the entire Xing storyline up until the Finale!

The update is live for both Mac and PC. And it is still Early Access, so expect everything to be polished further before full release, but hopefully you enjoy!

...yeah, that's it. Go forth and experience the ups and downs of the Xing siblings!
