Sega and Relic Entertainment are ready to bring Company of Heroes 2 back to the series' roots with The Western Front Armies standalone multiplayer expansion. Sega has revealed a June 24 release date for the new CoH2 content and has accompanied the announcement with a new trailer.
Sega and Relic Entertainment have announced Company of Heroes 2: The Western Front Armies, a standalone multiplayer game that takes players back to the setting of the original Company of Heroes. Launching in June, the game will be available for as low as $13, giving players a cheap way of entering the COH multiplayer community.
Over the long holiday weekend, two of Sega's major franchises went head-to-head in the Steam arena. The results are in and Company of Heroes 2 has emerged victorious over Total War: Rome II, by virtue of its community racking up more in-game victories. CoH2 fans will now reap the rewards of a pair of DLC packs, available for free through February 22, just in time for tonight's Aftermath update.
Not everyone has taken up arms for Relic's latest World War II RTS, Company of Heroes 2. With recruitment for the war effort down and the Nazis banging on Moscow's front door, Sega and Relic are offering a free weekend on Steam to bring fresh pain to Hitler's armies and help bring glory to Mother Russia, comrade.
World War 2 never ends, fought across new virtual battlefields update after update, game after game, year after year. It's raging afresh in Company of Heroes 2 thanks to a new update, which adds two new maps and Steam Workshop support for player-made maps, and another DLC map pack.
Next week is turning out to be a pretty eventful one for Company of Heroes 2. Not only is it getting a map editor alongside the Turning Point update, but it will also add the "Victory at Stalingrad" downloadable content. It's set to go up right alongside Turning Point, for $9.99.
A steady supply of new maps can help keep a multiplayer community alive, so Relic is delivering two to Company of Heroes 2 next week. Even better than more official maps is a map editor so players can make their own, and oooh, one of those is coming too in the 'Turning Point' update.
Company of Heroes 2 is getting two free multiplayer maps today, titled Rostov and Khakov. Rostov is a six-player map based on the World War 2 battle that took place there, and Khakov is a four-player map set in the Ukrainian city that fielded many battles of its own.
