Oddly the Valkyries are a whole lot less soft-porny in the game itself - it's just the title screen that gets over-excited about them

The fourth game in Katauri Interactive’s reboot of olden strategy/RPG hybrid King’s Bounty is out now. Warriors Of The North requires no knowledge of the earlier games, involving a new storyline and a new hero, and a whole lot of Norse mythology-inspired beasts and magic. More of the cheerful same or a new take on what’s become somewhat routine? Here’s what I think. (more…)

King's Bounty: Warriors of the North is Now Available on Steam!

King’s Bounty: Warriors of the North is the next chapter in the cult RPG/adventure saga. The new tale takes place in the familiar world of Endoria featured in the previous games, but begins in the Viking lands, which the celebrated hero Bill Gilbert never visited during his famous quest in King’s Bounty: The Legend.

The Mighty Olaf, son of the Konung of Northlings, has dedicated his life to battling the undead who have infested the northern lands of Endoria. He seeks to liberate the snowy wastes, dwarven dungeons, and the very heart of Endoria, the kingdom of Darion itself, from the dark grip of necromancy. On his quest towards immortal glory he will encounter cunning foes and new friends, hard battles and amazing adventures.

I don’t think I said ‘bundle’ more than once a year before Humble got fused to the front of the word and started the never before known phenomenon of selling similar things in conjunction with one another. Indie Gala 7 contains Rig’n'Roll, Space Rangers and Reign: Conflict of Nations, with a fourth game added next week, but paying over the average also adds Death to Spies, Death to Spies: Moment of Truth, King’s Bounty: Armored Princess and UFO: Afterlight. Given that the average is currently $6.92, that seems worthwhile for anyone interested in Armored Princess. Consider the rest bonuses perhaps? I don’t get on with those UFO games and I haven’t actually played the first Space Rangers so all I know is that it’s not the second, which is one of the best things money can buy.

Another set of cheap indie games has been bundled up to help you through the summer slump. The seventh Indie Gala bundle is offering three games with a fourth to be unveiled later, along with even more bonus games for paying more than the rolling target average.

The three games in the bundle include Rig'n'Roll, Space Rangers, and Reign: Conflict of Nations. The fourth game is still under wraps, and will be announced in the second week of the sale. If you pay more than the average (currently around $6.90), you also snag Death to Spies, Death to Spies: Moment of Truth, King's Bounty: Armored Princess, and UFO: Afterlight, plus another game to be announced. All in all you could score nine games out of this deal.

Your funds can go towards the disabilities organization AbleGamers and the Italian Red Cross to assist with earthquake relief.

King's Bounty: The Legend and King's Bounty: Armored Princess are Now Available on Mac and 10% off*!

King's Bounty: The Legend is an adventure game with tactical turn-based battles and role-playing elements. In a fairy tale fantasy world of fearless knights, evil mages, wise kings and beautiful princesses the player controls a hero. Leading their character through the game world, exploring it, commanding armies in battle and accomplishing various quests can mean great reward or huge defeats.

King's Bounty: Armored Princess is a sequel to the critically acclaimed King’s Bounty: The Legend. Players will take on the role of Princess Amelie who travels around the world of Teana and searches for the renowned knight, and her mentor, Bill Gilbert. This new world of King’s Bounty: Armored Princess is full of mysteries and dangers. The new character, the Princess, will encounter horrible creatures, huge monstrous bosses and a new race, the bloodthirsty Lizards. As in the multi-award winning game on which this sequel is based, the player has many options to resist these new enemies. Various new skills and characteristics of Amelie as well as her chance to fly will help her overcome the hordes attacking the kingdom.

Now arriving at Apple Airport, flight KB1999.

For non-Mac folk who care not about this news, the first footage from Warriors of the North, next in the King’s Bounty series, is below. As for me, I had no idea the Macficionados among our readership had been deprived of the strategic silliness that is the rebooted King’s Bounty series for so long. Back in 1990, when the original game graced the never-bettered DOS, it was also available on the Apple II, although the history of our hobby being so inexact at time, I can’t be sure that release was simultaneous. A bit of research might help but that’s not what I’m here for. My task at present is to inform you that King’s Bounty: The Legend and King’s Bounty: Armored Princess are now available on Mac.
