Happy Monday, Commanders! You may recall that last week we postponed version 1790 to make sure that the patch met our high standards of quality; on Wednesday, March 22, we will be releasing version 1813, which is an updated and polished version of the 1790 patch notes.

There are some differences from last week's notes (most notably gear changes), so be sure to read through them!

Gameplay Notes
Unranked Draft update
  • The unranked draft sequence now allows players to select any of their three saved squad loadouts to bring into the match. This was one of our most requested additions from players, so let us know what you think of it!
    • Players have up to 1 minute to select and lock in their squads. The timer will end once both players have locked in their squads. (This timer also accounts for time passed while the draft is initiating, and while the dropships are flying into place)
    • After players have locked in their squads, another 60 second countdown timer will start – this countdown timer will update to 10 seconds remaining if all players click ‘Ready Up’
Account Settings / Account Rename
  • All players have been given 1 name token to change their account name if they wish to do so
  • This setting can be found by clicking on the Player Portrait and navigating to ‘Account Settings’. Type in your desired name, (no more than 16 characters allowed), and click ‘SAVE NAME’
Gear Changes
  • Assault Plasma
    • The gunner will now halt orders after using the active ability, instead of resuming movement. Now the gunner will start AA immediately after activation is complete
  • Scatter Laser
    • The gunner will now halt orders after using the active ability, instead of resuming movement. Now the gunner will start AA immediately after activation is complete
  • Scatter Blaster
    • The gunner will now halt orders after using the active ability, instead of resuming movement. Now the gunner will start AA immediately after activation is complete
  • Ground Pounder
    • Ability damage increased from 150 to 250
  • Pulse Cannons
    • Cooldown reduced from 60s to 40s
    • Ability damage increased from 100 to 200
  • Surge Amplifier
    • Cooldown reduced from 35s to 28s
  • Cleansing Cells
    • Debuff immunity increased from 3s to 4.5s
  • Null Field
    • DPS reduced from 50/60/80 to 30
  • Quantum Mire
    • Recovery time reduced from 1000ms to 600ms
  • Inhibitor Field
    • Recovery time reduced from 1000ms to 350ms
  • Nanite Wall
    • Duration reduced from 8s to 6s
    • Cast Range changed from 40m to --/--/23/28/33m
    • Recovery time reduced from 1300ms to 900ms
    • The ammo that spawns the wall now travels at 40m/s rather than taking 0.35s to arrive at the destination
  • Reconstructive Maneuver
    • Cast Range changed from 40m to --/--/20/30/40m
  • Dyno Vortex
    • Pull radius changed 20/25/30 to 25
    • Unlock Level raised from 2 to 3
  • Grav Engine
    • Pull radius change from 35 to 30
    • Unlock level raised from 4 to 5
    • Now applies a 2-second -30% Armor debuff to units that are pulled, applied after the pull is complete
  • One of Us
    • One of Us bonus is conveyed to any summoned Kavash minions, such as ones from Lapse Generator
    • Gear card text updated to mention this new effect
Pilot Changes
  • Plutus’ Special Move: Paradigm Shift
    • Cooldown reduced from 60s to 40s
    • Cast Range increased from 25 to 35m
Miscellaneous Notes
  • Cloning Laser
    • Gear Card text has been updated to mention that destroyed turrets cannot clone themselves
  • Power Shunts
    • Gear Card text has been updated to mention that the ability cooldown cannot be modified
  • Landfall
    • Gear Card text has been updated to mention the windup before the jump
  • Turbine’s Special Move: Stoke the Fire
    • Ability text has been updated to mention HP Drain instead of Self Damage. Text also updated to mention drain cannot be modified by things like armor, etc.
  • Various pieces of gear have had their builder FX and SFX updated
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a crash that would occur when Palm Rocketing a Vision Tower or Uplink while tank was rooted
  • The navmesh on A Surprise Encounter has been updated to fix an issue where units could clip inside of map elements
  • Fixed an issue where the minimap on Mind the Gap did not display cross/health icons in the dropships
  • Fixed an issue where the Kavash Soldier auto attack animation did not transition back to an idle animation immediately after completing
  • Fixed an issue where pressing Tab in the Password Protect field of a Custom Lobby would move the cursor to the Custom Lobby name field and not tab back to the Password Protect text field if pressed again
  • Fixed an issue where Fog of War controls were featured in Infestation Replays. This toggle is now hidden in Infestation replays
  • Fixed an issue where the Searching bar overlapped the ‘Return to Builder’ button in Sandbox Mode
  • Fixed an issue where the Dropship Vision was misplaced on Mind the Gap
  • Fixed an issue where Icebreaker’s map name featured (2v2) in the Draft Sequence
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Current Squad’ button did not play hover or select SFX
  • Fixed an issue where Summoner’s Cocoon was not stacking properly until the original stack was removed
  • Fixed an issue where Transmission SFX for cards was not matching the movement of the tiles
  • Fixed an issue where no SFX played when selecting a Pilot in the Builder
  • Fixed an issue where Transmissions did not play hover SFX
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Close’ button on the Transmission Details panel did not play click SFX
  • Fixed an issue where 16 character names were cut off in the Custom Lobby screen and Friends List
  • Fixed an issue where Daredevil Recon’s Orbital Strike did not play SFX when activated in the Builder
  • Fixed an issue where Quantum Leap would fail to teleport to targets that were off the navmesh. Now it searches for a valid position 30 meters around the target to teleport to
  • Fixed an issue where Landfall would continue its windup after being rooted. Being rooted will now interrupt Landfall but the cooldown for Landfall won’t be consumed since its being interrupted before the cast point
  • Fixed an issue where Scoring Points and Battle Tactics would show match score and timer UI elements during the elevator sequence
  • Fixed an issue where Crazed Banshee’s targeting FX would persist on the target if the projectile expired before impact
  • Fixed an issue where the Transmissions list was partially cut off if the player had more than 4 transmissions
  • Fixed an issue where Crazed Banshee’s projectile would disappear but continue to show propellant flames
  • More minor language localization fixes have been added
  • Fixed a crash that would occur for the sender of a challenge request if the recipient declined
  • Fixed an issue where Recon’s passive was not stacking correctly
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Reset Hotkeys’ option was not correctly resetting changed hotkeys
Known Issues
  • There are known issues with words bleeding outside of their bounding boxes for every language other than English. Fixes are on the way
  • Locking Observer slots in Custom Matches only works when both slots are empty
  • The Private Match setting only works when the game is already created, so someone can join in-between
  • Hive Link does not have a cast ring around hives to show where the ability can be cast
  • The ‘Easy Pickings’ achievement does not count Hives killed by a teammate towards the goal
  • Global Chat does not reflect your changed name until you have restarted the game

Gameplay Notes

New patch incoming this Wendesday, March 8, Commanders!

Coming soon
  • The CONTRACT system will be online soon and comes via the Transmission UI! Contracts are limited-time PvE (player vs. environment) missions that strive to show you new aspects of Dropzone, while giving you the chance to show off your skills and collect rewards.
    • "Open Season" is a Pandora-focused Contract
    • There is a 7-minute time limit to complete three goals, each with their own reward:
      • Upload 2 Cores (Reward: 500 Jovians)
      • Upload 4 Cores (Reward: 1,000 Jovians)
      • Upload 7 Cores and survive (Reward: 2,500 Jovians)
Feedback on "Open Season" and the Contracts system is welcome and greatly appreciated!

It’s a battle for cores, Commander, and you need to show us how many you can gather in 15 minutes!
At this point, you’re probably already wondering how to get your hands on these goodies. It’s easy! Here’s what you need to do:

  • Get in the game, play a competitive match against another Commander and fight to upload as many cores as you can.
  • Once you’re done, take a screenshot of the victory screen.
  • Send it to coreshunt@playdropzone.com before the 12th of March with the following information:
    • Title: Core Hunt
    • In-game nickname
    • Date of the match
The player with the highest score will win:
  • A Dropzone USB Gunner Rig
  • A Dropzone T-shirt
  • A ROCCAT Kone EMP Mouse
Second place will receive:

Terms and Conditions
The following conditions govern the course of the Dropzone Core Hunt Contest (‘contest’) as organised by Gameforge 4D GmbH, Albert-Nestler-Straße 8, 76131 Karlsruhe, Germany (‘Gameforge’).

1. Participation Period
The contest starts on 03/03/2017. The deadline for entries is 12/03/2017 (‘participation period’).

2. No Entry Fees
Participation in the contest is free and is not bound to the purchase of any goods or the subscription to a fee-based service.

3. Participants and Eligibility
(1) All users (‘user’) with an active, personal account (‘account’) for Dropzone are eligible to enter.
(2) Gameforge employees and employees of Gameforge-associated companies, members of the Dropzone Tech Team as well as their relatives are allowed to participate yet are excluded from receipt of any prizes.
(3) A ‘participant’ is every eligible user who makes a submission during the participation period according to no. 4 paragraph 2 of these conditions.


4. Submission
(1) The aim of the contest is to produce a screenshot in accordance with the conditions stated in the following paragraph.
(2) The screenshot must be taken at the end of a Dropzone match where the participant shows the result of it (victory screen). sent to coreshunt@playdropzone.com (‘submission’):
a) The submission must be sent by the person who wants to participate in the contest and not by a third party. It must be in .jpg, .png or .gif format with a maximum file size of five MB.
b) The submission must be free from the rights of third parties and must comply with current laws. The participant shall indemnify Gameforge against all third party claims in connection with the submission.

5. Winners and Prizes
(1) Gameforge will select the submissions from amongst all eligible submissions containing the highest amount of collected cores in a match by 13/03/2017. The ‘winner’ is the participant who sent the submissions and had the highest cores value collected in his match.
(2) Gameforge will announce the winners by 15/03/2017 stating their nicknames and prize via its own forums and on pages maintained by Gameforge on social networks (together the ‘Gameforge pages’) and will notify the winners vie e-mail requesting their addresses to send them the prizes (‘notification’).
(3) The winner in first place will each receive a Dropzone USB Gunner Rig, a Dropzone T-shirt and a Roccat Kone EMP.The winner in second place will a Dropzone USB Gunner Rig, a Dropzone t-shirt and a Roccat Isku + Force FX. The winner in third place will receive a Dropzone t-shirt, a Dropzone poster and a Roccat Taito Control.
(4) The prizes will be sent latest on 17/03/2017 via a service provider commissioned by Gameforge (‘service provider’) for which a valid address (‘address’) and a real name must be provided.
(5) Once the prizes have been handed over to the service provider, Gameforge considers the prizes as having been awarded.
(6) A cash disbursement and/or payment of the prize in goods, or the exchange and/or transfer of the prize to third parties is excluded in each case.

6. Rights of Use
(1) The participant grants Gameforge the free, non-exclusive right to use the submission at any time and in any place for the purpose of presenting the submission on the Gameforge pages ('use'). This includes the right to edit and copy the submission, as well as the right to make the submission publicly accessible and to grant the rights of use to third parties as far as is necessary.
(2) The participant agrees that the nickname provided in the submission is sufficient for denoting authorship within the scope of use.

7. Declaration of Consent
In the event of a win, the participant consents to receive a notification and permits Gameforge to pass on their address to the service provider for the purpose of sending the star prize.

8. Data Privacy
(1) Gameforge will collect, use and process the personal data of the participants solely for the purposes detailed in these Terms and Conditions and in accordance with data protection regulations.
(2) Further information regarding Gameforge’s handling of personal data can be found in the Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimer
(1) Gameforge, its bodies, employees, and subcontractors are liable exclusively for wilful intent and gross negligence, regardless of legal basis, and in cases of ordinary negligence, only for the violation of essential contractual obligations and limited to foreseeable damages, as far as not precluded by other compulsory statutory provisions.
(2) These limitations do not apply for the loss of life, personal injury or damage to health.

10. Other
(1) In sending a submission the participant agrees to these Terms and Conditions. In addition to these Terms and Conditions, the General Terms & Conditions also apply (together the ‘rules‘). Should a participant infringe upon the rules during the contest, their eligibility may be revoked.
(2) Gameforge reserves the right to end the contest at any time, if for technical or legal reasons its proper execution cannot be guaranteed.
(3) In the event that any individual provisions of these Terms and Conditions become ineffective, the remaining provisions shall remain effective and binding. Statutory rules shall take the place of the ineffective provision.

Gameplay Changes
  • Jump pads no longer disjoint ammo
Gear Changes
  • Scatter Laser
    • Damage debuff is now 20% at all levels
    • Ability damage from 50x4 (total) to 28.5 / 37.5 / 50 (x4)
  • Flamethrower
    • Auto-attack damage reduced from 80/90/100/110/110 to 80/80/80/80/80
    • Bonus Damage per Slag Stack increased from 0/2.5/2.7/2.9/3.0 to 0/2.8/3.0/3.3/3.5
    • Auto-attack range reduced from 14m to 13m
    • Auto-attack splash range reduced from 17m to 16.5m
    • Release count per auto-attack cycle reduced from 2 to 1. Auto-attack cycle length unchanged. This now applies damage less frequently, but more damage per damage instance
    • Overall max-stacks amplified DPS changed from: -/173/189/206.5/209.8 to -/173/179.8/189.8/196
  • Null Field
    • Now has a 1 second delay before it starts silencing and damaging enemies inside the field
    • Overall duration has increased from 5 seconds to 6 seconds to accommodate the delay
  • Inhibitor Field
    • The field now lasts for 1 second and no longer disarms enemies inside the field
    • Instead, enemies inside the field when it ends are disarmed
    • The disarm lasts for 2.5 seconds
  • Dyno Vortex
    • Splash size rescaled from --/25/30/35/35 to --/20/25/30/30
  • Shock Prod
    • Will no longer seek attackers at infinite distances
    • Seek logic from both the attacker (if present) and fallback nearest enemy logic has been unified to use the displayed search range value
    • Search range value increased from 20m to 28m
  • Zealot Drive
    • Reactive HP Regen is added on all enemy damage, instead of just auto-attack damage
  • Combat Rush
    • Now activates when the gunner auto-attacks while at low HP
    • The effect lasts for 3 seconds. Attacking will refresh the effect
    • The potency of the effect is still based on how hurt the gunner is
  • Obscure Vitality
    • Now works in Infestation Mode

Pilot Changes
  • Fury
    • Base speed reduced from 8.5 to 8.25 (Base gunner speed is still 8.0)
  • Recon’s Trait
    • Now stacks up to 3 times
    • Duration does not refresh when stacked
  • Plutus’ Trait
    • Ally armor bonus reduced from +5 to +3
    • Enemy armor debuff unchanged (-5)
Miscellaneous Notes
  • Two new user preferences have been added to the Gameplay tab of the Options menu
  • The Match Seeking panel has been moved to the bottom replay HUD to prevent UI overlap
  • The outdated version error text has been updated to make it more clear that the player is on an old version and needs to update
  • Custom Lobby chat is now automatically opened in mini-state when starting a Custom Lobby
  • Basic Functionality stats have been moved to the bottom of gear cards
  • In-game chat for Infestation now reflects each participants’ player color
  • Friend chat now remembers the history of the chat. Currently, chat notifications are not set up if messages are received while the friend is offline or in the middle of a match - that fix will be added soon
  • The ‘Continue’ button on the rewards screens now has click SFX
  • The hologram that displays crafted gear and gear opened in crates has been updated
  • Streamer safety guides have been added to the installation directory in the community folder. These files point out ‘safe zones’ for players to put their stream information so that it doesn’t overlap with Dropzone’s UI
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed an issue where the Player Overview Tab was counting Test Loadout runs in the ‘Matches Played’ category.
  • Fixed an issue where the camera could become locked in the 3[sup]rd[/sup] Tutorial – Scoring Points
  • Fixed an issue where the flashing UI box was not properly centered on ‘Return to Builder’ button during the Builder Tutorial
  • Fixed an issue where ‘Double Kill’ and ‘Team Wipe’ banners were always displaying as blue
  • Fixed an issue where the Watch Mode HUD toggle was not hiding Infestation UI elements
  • Fixed an issue where Custom Tower equipped text was displaying as string text
  • Fixed an issue where Custom Lobby chat was named ‘Dropzone Chat’ – Custom Lobby chat is now named ‘Lobby Chat’
  • Fixed an issue where double digit pilot levels overlapped with the level progress bar on the match results screen
  • Fixed an issue where collapsing the chat into a smaller window did not show the most recent messages sent
  • Fixed an issue where Credits were not accessible after completely playing once
  • Fixed an issue where the Continue button on the Introduction pop up was not translated for German
  • Fixed an issue where the Daily Bounty rewards were not listed in the Transmissions Detail panel after skipping the Tutorial
  • Fixed an issue where chat text was too small in lower resolutions
  • Added a temp fix to regenerate the default.json file if it ever got into a bad ‘null’ state
  • Fixed an issue where certain Infestation VO lines only played out of the left speaker
  • Fixed an issue where Nanite Wall did not block rigs that used Thrusters or Boosters toward it
  • Fixed a memory crash on Windows 7 and 8 machines
  • Fixed the vision controls for red/blue team in the bottom left corner of the replay UI. You no longer have to CTRL-CLICK to turn them both on. Both eyes now toggle on and off
  • Fixed backwards compatibility issue with replays from builds 1635, 1640 and 1661
  • Fixed Summoner's Cocoon not stacking until the original stack is removed by an attack
Known Issues
  • There are known issues with words bleeding outside of their bounding boxes for every language other than English. Fixes are on the way
  • Locking Observer slots in Custom Matches only works when both slots are empty
  • The Private Match setting only works when the game is already created, so someone can join in-between
  • Hive Link does not have a cast ring around hives to show where the ability can be cast
  • The ‘Easy Pickings’ achievement does not count Hives killed by a teammate towards the goal
  • Global Chat does not reflect your changed name until you have restarted the game
