This weekend new troops are being sent to the Eastern Front as Company of Heroes 2 is having its first ever Steam Free Weekend.

Starting today and running until Sunday January 19th all Steam members will be able to play Company of Heroes 2 for free. No conditions, no catches, it’s the full Company of Heroes 2 experience and it’s a click away for all Steam members. Players will be able to experience the full single-player campaign, the single player and co-op Theater of War experience in Operation Barbarossa and of course the CoH2 multiplayer.

Veterans of CoH2 will not only have new allies and enemies to faceoff with in multiplayer this weekend, but as an additional bonus we are unlocking all of the game’s paid DLC commanders for four days of play. So if there’s been a Commander you’ve wanted to try on the battlefield then this is your chance.

As an additional bonus multiplayer automatch games will be awarding ten times the experience all weekend. Yup, that’s right 10x XP all weekend long for any automatch game.

Have a friend who you think would love Company of Heroes 2? This is the weekend to get them playing the game. And as an added bonus the game will be 66% off on Steam, allowing everyone who loves playing it for free to keep it for a very low price.

Welcome to Company of Heroes 2, we’ll see you on the front lines.

Men of War: Assault Squad 2 may be the sixth in the real-time strategy series in five years but gosh, that just means more jolly war fun for everyone. Publisher 1C company today announced that this latest one from Digitalmindsoft, the folks behind the first Assault Squad (and not some of the wonkier standalone expansions), will launch for PC on February 20.

title="Permanent Link to Space Marine creator: Captain Titus would have “gone rogue” if the series had continued">Space Marine

Space Marine, the ultra-violent close-combat exploration of the grisly Warhammer 40K universe, was a good game that didn't get enough attention. Still, had THQ not completely imploded at the end of 2012, Space Marine’s protagonist Captain Titus was planned to have been at the center of two more games. The game’s director, Raphael van Lierop, is now part of the team that successfully Kickstarted The Long Dark, and he claims to have had big plans for Titus.

“The second part of his story was to focus on a ‘Titus Unleashed’ plot—basically there were forces arrayed against him that would see his loyalty to the Adeptus Astartes pushed to its limit, and his reaction would be to kind of ‘go rogue,’ and we'd see a different Titus, not quite as in control as we saw him in Space Marine,” van Lierop told The PA Report. “He would survive, and come back even stronger in the third game, where other Space Marines still loyal to him would rally around him and he'd return to ‘clean house,’ but as the head of a brand new Chapter that we would build around him.”

I found Space Marine to be a well-made ballet of death and carnage, which is my favorite kind of ballet. For more details on Titus’s cancelled storylines, check out the full interview with van Lierop at PAR.

title="Permanent Link to Amazon’s Tantalizing THQ Medley heavily discounts Metro 2033, STALKER, and others">STALKER

If you missed out on last year's Humble THQ Bundle or followup Nvidia giveaway, it's time for a threepeat. Amazon saw how all the cool kids were discounting THQ games with great results, and it has followed suit with the Tantalizing THQ Medley, which slices off 91 percent in savings across six games, including Metro 2033, STALKER, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine.

Plunking down just $12 also nets you Homefront, Red Faction: Armageddon and Red Faction: Guerrilla. And though this particular bundle's offerings aren't as strong as some in the past (Homefront fared only somewhat average critically), the price is one of the best for what you get.
