Rolling off the Killing Floor 2 announcement and Killing Floor End Of The Line event, we at Tripwire have some good news for Red Orchestra 2 fans! New hardware is being shipped to the front! What hardware? Glad you asked!
Maschinengewehr 1942 (MG-42) - A squad and mounted machine gun of the German armies, designed and intended to replace the MG-34. Firing at 1,200 rpm, the MG-42 not only put bullets down range but fear as well. One of its only drawbacks was its inability to have successful sustained fire due to the amount of ammunition it could consume as well as easily over heating its barrel.
T-70 - Designed to replace previous light tanks in use by the Russian army and one of the last light tanks to be made before their fall out of favor for more armored and up-gunned medium and heavy tanks. Featuring a small crew (consisting of the driver and the commander/gunner), it boasted a 45-mm cannon and a coaxial mounted DT machine gun.
Panzerkampfwagen III (Panzer III) - Intended as the main battle tank of the German armies going into WWII it went through several modifications and role changes as the Germany army encountered heavier armored and armed tanks on the eastern front. It also introduced the standard 3 man turret that became the standard for both the Germany army and that of the Allied powers it was fighting.
We will be bringing you screenshots as development of these items continues. I will also be going into (in my continuing series of What We Are Up To Posts) some of the new features and community requests that we are tackling for our next set of updates. Also I am pleased to announce that we've been working on the SDKfz 251 and in a future build it will sit 6 passengers in the back. We'll see you on the front!
A small 6.6 MB update is going out for all RO 2 clients (sever update not required) at this time. This update addresses a recent crash that many users have experienced on first server load or map change.
The Tripwire Ladder ladder-season has now kicked off, with Territory and Countdown ladders launched and teams starting to compete against each other for a total prize-pool of $6000, divided into two 10-week seasons. You can sign up your team even during the season, so if you missed the launch, no worries! You can still join up. In addition to the ladders, there will be tournaments during the season, so stay tuned!

When players are vote kicked from a server they are now session banned and cannot return immediately
Added a new setting to allow server admins to tune the minimum kick votes required to kick a player from the server. This can be found here in ROGame.ini:
Added a setting in ROGame.ini to allow server admins to prevent users that have a VAC ban in any game from being able to join their server. This is defaulted to off. The settings can be found here: [ROGame.ROSteamUserBanned] KickForVACBan=false KickForVACBanNum=0 To enable this setting set KickForVACBan=false. If KickForVACBanNum=0 then players with any VAC bans at all will be kicked from the server. If KickForVACBanNum is set to 2 or greater than that will be the number of VAC bans the user can have in any game before being kicked. The recommended setting to ensure no VAC banned users can join your server is:
There is additional unlisted hack/exploit prevention in this update, but due to the nature of hacking we will not be going into detail on those items. If you encounter any unusual issues with this update please report it on the RO2 support forums here:
For those of you who have joined us via the RO 2 (Free forever promotion from last Wednesday, the 23rd) or just from the Rising Storm free weekend (which ended last night), thanks!
A few notes (as we have noticed confusion on the subject):
1) If you got Red Orchestra 2 for Free, you still have full access to it (keep it forever). However the Rising Storm content (Pacific theater, Japanese vs United States) you will only have limited access to until you purchase Rising Storm (it is still on sale for another hour). http://store.steampowered.com/app/234510/
2) For those who picked up Rising Storm for the free weekend, you missed the promotion period for RO 2 for Free, and you will need to pick up Rising Storm to continue playing the game (once again still on sale for another hour). Rising Storm comes with the full RS and RO 2 multiplayer environment. http://store.steampowered.com/app/234510/
And a general note:
The game you want to install is the "Rising Storm/Red Orchestra 2 Multiplayer" application. The two beta applications are used to test future updates with the community.
We hope everybody had a great weekend! (And don't forget to grab an extra copy or 2 of RS to give to your friends!)
