As we showed on Kickstarter, we’re delighted to consider, react and adapt to reasonable, constructive, comments and want your feedback. Unlike that forum anyone on Steam has the opportunity to have their say.
So don’t miss out on the chance to get involved in the development process and tell us what you’d like to see in a sequel to The Ship.
Now's your chance to take part; view our entertaining and distinctive Kickstarter video and see the rewards you can reap for supporting the game. Any great ship needs a successful launch and your help to fund this project, however big or small, is invaluable. Become a member of The Royal Society for the Proliferation of Steam, support the project, tell all your friends, and join us to complete with the finished game.
The Griffin is in a business-like mood today - the sun is shining, the birds are tweeting, and a small (but no doubt vital) power transformer is being built outside the office to the sound of jack hammers and bucket lifts. Why, with the window open it almost feels like we’re building it, too. :)
Overcome with such auditory delights, awash in stack-overflows, excess coffee, and the turn-of-the century, post-expressionistic poetry that is indie game development, our thoughts have once again turned to discount wares and unashamed self-promotion. How might we find more players, more funds and more hugs?
(Ahem) But wait, is this a crassly edited pastiche of Pulp Fiction I can hear in the background? Why, yes…yes it is…
JULES: Mm-mm-mm. You know what they call indie games bundled with The Ship in France? BRETT: No. JULES: Tell ‘em, Vincent. VINCENT: Indie Royale.
Yes, dear reader. THE SHIP is to appear ON INDIE ROYALE, and not just in France.
Woo-hoo! And we even decided to hold the cheese.
The funds we hope to raise are vital to our company growth and continued endeavours, so if you have yet to cross polo mallets in 1920s ocean going luxury, or even if you have, and want a whole load of other, awesome, indie games for a few, shiny shillings, then this is the bundle for you!
So go, fly, sneak or otherwise locomote towards the link below and get yourselves a wodge of warm, indie goodness with that fresh, new-baked smell of home-cooked bundling. Mm-mm-mm.
And if you don’t believe this anthropomorphic carnivore - claw on heart, no wing-pinions crossed - when it hints that (1+LOTS)/LOW PRICE = GOOD, then here’s what Indie Royale have to say:
“Indie Royale is an indie game bundle website that offers up multiple top-quality indie titles every two weeks for you to purchase at seriously silly prices. All you need to do is pay the price stated - or pay more - and the games currently featured will be yours to keep forever.”
If, like us, you're looking forward to a visit from a figure in red(1) then we have good news: it's that time of year, again, where an anthropomorphic expression of great jollity and insane generosity can be seen flying high above the streets and houses, delivering presents to all good game players everywhere.
I am, of course, talking about the CHRISTMAS GRIFFIN.
Hush, listen... Is that a flutter of snowy wings? The scratch of claw on tile? The merry jingle of free gift keys? It is, indeed! Casting around the office for a suitable gift this year, we came up with chairs, an anglepoise lamp, and carpet tiles - all good, until we tried to wrap the darned lamp...
So we've decided to gift digital.
In an effort to thank some of those who've bought the ship over the years (as well as a transparent attempt at some shameless marketing) we're giving two free game keys to any person who has bought a copy of The Ship on Steam, EVER, EVER.(2)
So at some point today, if you've been a Ship customer, have a look in Steam under Games/Manage Gifts and Guest Passes. In there, you'll find TWO FREE COPIES of the game you can send to friends and, if they activate their free copy, they get ANOTHER free copy.
Now my brain hurts with all this 'recursive freeness', but in short, we're giving you a gift to give away, while trying to spread The Ship like a 1920s flu virus or an Art Deco snowball.
So there you go.
And should you wish to thank the Christmas Griffin, just leave a small sherry and a pound of rump steak by the tree.
Happy Christmas, one and all!
The Blazing Griffin Team.
(1) No, not Julia Roberts
(2) Up to and including the end of the Steam Winter Sale 2011
Welcome to Hollywood! The home of fame and fortune!
That's what the flyer said anyway. The reality hasn't proven quite so fruitful. All you need is one shot, and you'll do whatever it takes to get it.
Fortunately for you, the notorious Director X has arrived in town! This well known Horror movie producer always manages to astonish his audience with the realism of his scenes.
But 7 other hopefuls are also in the running, so you're going to need to prove your worth if you're to hit the leading credits. What they and you don't know is that Director X finds his realism in true actions films with real blood and real manhunt.
Be prepared to run for fame and succeed at any cost. or die trying!
Today, on the 24th of October 2008, The Ship has been updated with a patch containing new content, code and gameplay updates! The is is the first patch we've done for a while but we think you're going to like it!
We have created a new set of characters: the World leaders, including some of the most well known political figures who have or still do strut their stuff on the world stage... To play using these new characters you'll need to download the World Leader patch first. This is free of charge to everyone who already owns the game and will happen automatically when you try to launch the game from Steam. If you're new to The Ship, there's a special offer purchase price for the weekend, ending on Sunday. Look on Steam to find out more. If you don't already have Steam installed, visit www.steampowered.com to find out more about Steam.
Once you've launched the game, select one of the World Leader game modes to play with the new character set. We've also created a brand new Ship: Krassin, the icebreaker. It's a luxurious but frosty place to play at murder...
All new players of the Ship: if you purchase this weekend and experience any problems, please visit our forum where we have an excellent troubleshooting FAQ which should solve any issues, should you experience any! You can also find the game manual and other tips on gameplay on this site.
