0.1.49E Hot Fixes: Getting back into the swing
This patch is doing some balance rounding and minor updates. We are trying to get back into our normal patch schedule after all the migration.

- Swarm Crabs health reduced damage increased
- Ice Crabs implemented
- Leaper implemented and Area Of Effect on land impact
- New Jelly types introduced and rebalanced
- Exposure math has been updated, as you go deeper the general threat of exposure will get higher. This is not to be confused with the rank, but the penalty for getting exposed lower increases as you go deeper.
- Deployed some of the natural spawning creatures in comet biome
- Willerworm and Vinebeetle have been given unique reactions to situations
- Plasma tree rebalanced. Lowered life, increased damage and speed of plasma balls
- Hunter Decimators now can detect the ceiling and if too close will change to firing from the bottom
- Hunter Seekers and Decimators have had health reduced but damage increased
- Armors have had a full rebalanced pass to make them scale more evenly
- Armor exposure ranks have been adjusted to be more inline with their original intent
- Outlander armor has been given a significant increase in stats and viability
- Sound updates across the board
- Adjusted gun procedural component values to allow more granularity within the craft chance
- Rocket Penguin and Mortar Penguin packs now roam the comet biome
- Rocket and Mortar Penguins also have a chance to drop Nano gear schematics
- Adjusted resource values for biomass to make it disperse more evenly
- Adjusted schematic costs across the board
- Updated how armor positioning works and fixed visual issues with Outlander
- Updating functionality for interfaces
- Updated some depth values to keep the starting pod in a safe area

Fixes:
- Chest duplication bug
- Hunter Seeker no longer only has 1hp
- Warning light schematic now works as intended
- Structure titanium's item name has been corrected
- Updated Accessories to insure syncing of animations
- Laser Shark now only chews through blocks in the world it located in

Good news, everyone!

We are very happy to announce that your voices have been heard, and we have decided that we will begin the process of retiring Arkdrop.com! We are moving over to a full Steam integration, meaning yes, you can all play offline now with Steam offline mode! We felt that it would be a great start to being on early access to show that we do listen to our community, so we went forward with it now.

It has taken quite a bit of effort on the team’s part to bring this to reality, so we hope that everyone will bear with us on the delays where content and features are concerned. There will be some stages to the process. Those who have gotten the game on steam should see almost no change other than not requiring a login.

Now that this project is behind us, we can get back to focusing on the game, adding content and features and making it the experience it should be. Even better, as soon as Steam has integrated all of the keys, our pre-order and Kickstarter customers will be able to claim their Steam keys! If your key does not redeem yet, please wait a bit and try again. It may take some time for the system to update to recognize all of the keys. If you are a pre-order buyer, please follow the steps below to move over to the Steam version:

1. Sign into your arkdrop account
2. Copy the code next to "Edge of Space Download"
3. Sign into the Steam Client and click on the "Games" dropdown menu and choose "Activate a Product on Steam"
4. Follow the instructions and paste the key in the Product Code area

Updated the DLL involved with screen resolution selection. This has been confirmed to fix the issue where upon opening the launcher would crash before being able to start the game.

  • Please delete your game and re-download it from steam to receive this fix.

The next patch will be soon and will be focused on rounding off some steam integration. We will also be focused on solving crash issues and launcher related issues.

With this patch we are cleaning up some loose ends. We are adding some user experience features that should help smooth out the process for new users.


  • Sound boxes have been added
  • Now you can make alarms, special tones on entry of your base, or create a song. We will be expanding on these heavily as we go through so we hope you enjoy
  • Swarm Crab aggro range reduced from 15 to 10
  • Swarm Crab damage decreased from 11 to 5
  • Burst text will now pop up over your head and read out what you have
  • picked up
  • Radium has been added back into resource generation
  • Grass and Trees now drop components
  • Jelly health has been reduced across the board but resistances have not changed
  • Updated Med pack description to make it clear on how it works
  • Reduced pick up range from 3.5 to 2.8
  • Currently you can not pick up Loot chests


Fixes:

  • Cleaned up some resolution display issues
  • Grass and trees now drop components
  • Cleaned up weapon tool tip numbers
  • Moved crab spawning down to ensure the starting pod will spawn outside of their spawn range
  • Treasure chests no longer re-spawn loot on restart or placement

Edge of Space is Now Available for Early Access on Steam.

Players suit up as an Operative of the Ark Corporation (ArkCo), deployed into the deepest, darkest, and most dangerous part of the universe. Fight against an array of creative horrors including cybernetically-enhanced laser space sharks or vicious genetically-evolved polar bears - and those are not even the strangest monstrosities to encounter!

You must terraform the entire world, craft armor, weapons, kits, and vehicles to help you explore and conquer. You start with only a laser pick and the gear from your pod, and immediately get working as every ore you mine is valuable. At the absolute edge of space you must adapt or die! Good luck ArkCo Operative!
