Get Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion on Steam for 75% off!*
Sins: Rebellion celebrates its 5-year anniversary with an update that brings significant changes to the game's engine, AI, graphics systems, and more! Modern gamers will enjoy an incredible remastered 4K experience, optimizations to late-game play, and improved memory capabilities.
Graphics Optimizations Sins: Rebellion gets a face lift in v1.9! The improvements to the memory system have allowed for a new "Extreme" texture setting that makes the game look better than ever. The difference is noticeable in everything from the ships and the planets all the way to shadow rendering. The UI will look incredible on 4K monitors now thanks to user interface scaling.
Memory Optimizations Concern yourself with space battles instead of space restrictions! Previously, Sins: Rebellion's 32-bit process was unable to exceed 2 GB of RAM usage. New adjustments in v1.9 allows the game to use up to 4 GB of RAM, which reduces crashes and lets modders focus on their creations instead of worrying about hitting the 32-bit limit. Any mods that already exist will benefit from the engine improvements with an overall better look and performance.
Late Game Optimizations Reduced stuttering and lag during late game battles let you focus on the fight! The game's AI has also received some updates, making for more interesting challenges and gameplay.
v1.9 is available and ready for you in the Steam Client!

Ironclad Games and Stardock Entertainment are pleased to announce the release of version 1.86 of Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion today. Today's update further optimizes the CPU and AI systems, while including several fixes for the Outlaw Sectors DLC.
Advent Reanimation and any other form of cloning will no longer clone Militia units.
Truce Amongst Rogues is now with just the pirates - not rebels, neutrals or militia.
Modders can now make use of the new ResearchModifierTypes "FriendlyWithPirates" and "FriendlyWithRebelNeutrals" in addition to the original "FriendlyWithPiratesRebelNeutrals".
Fixed smuggling data showing up when looking at crystal or metal tooltips. Smuggling only affects credits.
NPC and Militia carriers now build their strikecraft squadrons.
Militia will now spawn carriers.
Militia no longer receive research benefits that are tied to weaponclass. This solves the problem of races who don't use the militia ship classes being at a research disadvantage.
Mod users no longer need to move their mods to a new mod folder if the executable version changed unless the new game version breaks the previous version's mods. (e.g. 1.85 mods can stay in the Mods-Rebellion v1.85 folder even though this is game version 1.86).
CPU optimizations in large battle situations, late game situations and mass militia situations.
Reduced memory usage (particularly during large battles).
Reduced memory fragmentation (particularly during large battles).
Outlaw Sectors DLC is here with a new gameplay option and lots of new maps
Challenge yourself with new strategies and unique setups with the new “Outlaw Sectors” gameplay option and brand new maps for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. The variety of map sizes and designs will let you enjoy any kind of match you want, from intimate 1v1 duels all the way to epic 10-player brawls.
The lawless fringe is increasingly hostile, but for those with a criminal mind it's also rich with new opportunities.
Smuggling Specialization: Choose this planetary development to grab a cut of everyone's trade income - but at a cost. The increased corruption from this black market activity will reduce that planet's tax income.
Rampant Militias: Autonomous planetary militias will grow, raid nearby systems, and repopulate over time. Use them to help defend your worlds, or coordinate your attacks with their strikes for maximum impact.
Pirate Turf: Vicious when in their home sector, pirates can now raid multiple players simultaneously, drastically changing the art of the bidding war. And, just to make sure they are fully motivated to do what they do best, all credits spent on bounties will receive an automatic bonus.
Power Struggle - Contest the distant resource fields and nearby planets before striking at the enemy’s homeworld. Slim Pickings - Claim what remains among the war-torn stars and seize what you can from the other empires. Crossfire - Take your enemy’s homeworlds and coordinate your assault with your ally in order to win. High Stakes - Build a powerful fleet and seize the resource rich planets from enemy militia. Ironheart - Flanked by an enemy on each side, you must prioritize your resources carefully to achieve victory. Titans of Cimtar - Secure your planet from among the 8 gas giants dominating the map, then make war upon your neighbors. Death Spiral - The system is falling into a black hole and your enemies aren’t about to let you leave without a fight. Dogfight - Lead your allies into glorious battle amongst the stars in this huge map. Buzzsaw - Make one mistake and you may lose more than you bargained for in this spiral galaxy that leaves no room for error. Rising Empires - Secure your star system amidst the crushed local resistance and set your sights on your rivals’ territories. Desolation - Claim what little the Vasari have left behind and forge what remains of the worlds in the massive cluster of stars into a force capable of conquest.
Ironclad Games and Stardock Entertainment are pleased to announce the release of version 1.84 for hit strategy game today. This latest update adds more options for modders, bug fixes, better multiplayer stability and more.
The crew here at Stardock cares a lot about our community and the games that we produce for you.
That's why we're pleased to announce that version 2.20 for Galactic Civilizations II is available for you today!
Even when a title is "finished" and put out to market, there are always little things we find that could use a tweak or a change here and there. We also know what it's like to enjoy an old game so much that you keep going back to it, even when there are newer and "better" versions of it out there.
With help of some awesome community members, the Dev Team has taken all of the suggestions and implemented them into this update. You can find he entire change log (spoiler alert: it's long!) at the bottom of this post.
A few words from our CEO and President, Brad Wardell:"It was awesome being able to work with the fans to integrate years of their own mods and tweaks into the base game. They also gave me a long list of areas where they thought I could improve the AI, which I used to dig into the now 10 year old AI source code base to implement."
We hope you enjoy the update. We have an awesome community here at Stardock and are so very happy that you're a part of it. Have a great holiday season!
Special Thanks To Antonio "Mabus" Invernizzi, Gaunathor, SilasOfBorg, Kamil "OShee" Bober, DARCA1213, Sam "MarvinKosh" Edwards. Steffem "Maiden666" Jenter, MarvinKosh, Leiavoia, Frogboy and everyone else who helped out!
Ironclad Games and Stardock are pleased to present an opt-in for Sins of a Solar Empire version 1.83 today. Since there are many code changes in this build, it will be opt-in only until sometime in January.
