X3: Terran Conflict - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

Spaceship explore-o-trade-a-shoot-y-sandbox series X will return revamped and expanded with X4: Foundations [official site], developers Egosoft announced over the weekend. They’ve muttered for years about what they’d fix and changed after 2013’s disappointing X: Rebirth and lawks, it looks like they’ve learned a lot. Spacemen will once again be able to fly every ship in the game rather than being locked to one, for starters. Transporters will let us teleport around between ships, the economy is more complex, factions are more alive, and… ah here, watch the announcement video introducing all this and more: (more…)

Since their last update, we've taken the opportunity to do a couple of things with these games. Most of these are fixes, and have been applied to both games (X3: TC + X3: AP); those of you with many playing hours will be pleased to note that one of these addresses the performance and memory issues that can occur with certain missions.

Modders will find a few small improvements in X3: AP, and players who use the Russian and Chinese localisations will hopefully be pleased to see text improvements that had been made in X3: AP have now been back-ported to X3: TC. Also back-ported to X3: TC, though currently only in the Windows version, is the controller support from X3: AP.

X3:AP 3.2 Changelog:
  • Added new script commands and improved modder support.
  • Fixed mission-related memory leaks and performance issues.
  • Fixed savegame patching incompatibility issue (failing to load savegames if using custom hotkeys with mod scripts that contain delays).
  • Fixed exploit in return ship mission where boarded ships remained player owned.
  • Fixed dual convoy mission stalling if last ship is killed after one has previously docked.
  • Fixed various minor user interface issues.
  • Fixed missions in Pirate or Yaki space not selecting correct enemies
  • Fixed universe trader not buying any upgrades for their ship
  • Removed escort fighters which were left over by convoy missions in earlier versions

  • X3: Albion Prelude 3.2
  • X3: Terran Conflict 3.3
All three of these updates improve the games, and include a number of fixes and performance improvements that have come to our attention over the past months. These updates will, of course, be made available to everybody once the testing has ended.

We are pleased to announce that Steam Cloud support is now enabled for all games in the X series, to bring the older games in line with X Rebirth.

Your savegames will now be synchronised across different PCs using the same Steam account by default.

If you do not wish to use Steam Cloud to synchronise your games, then right-click on the game in question in the Steam library, choose Properties, go to the Updates tab and uncheck the "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization" checkbox setting.

You can, of course, re-enable it at any time if you change your mind.

Regards,

Egosoft
